The Comeback of the Cannon-Fodder Supporting Actress-Chapter 865 - 844: Interstellar Superstar 14
S Company
A few planners, a group of tech personnel, and the show’s director were all gathered together.
The director watched as Anning made the antidote in no time, restoring everyone’s superpowers, and was worried to the point of losing his hair.
"What should we do? What do we do?"
The director kept asking himself and the planners: "We set it so they’d face many challenges getting out of the lab, then go through hardships to get to J Town, where they have to complete tasks to find the antidote. But now they haven’t even done much and they’ve already found the antidote. What’s the storyline now?"
The planners were scratching their heads.
"Cui Anning is too good; how did she know J Town was the final destination, and what’s she going to do next?"
The main issue is, where do we go from here?
The antidote’s been found, everyone has their superpowers back, so what’s next for the story?
It’s really troubling.
The director asked the tech personnel: "Can we have them injected with the suppressant again and increase the difficulty?"
Tech personnel shook his head: "Impossible."
"Then what do we do?"
It seemed that the director only knew how to say that.
The tech personnel had an idea: "The world we built is very realistic and vast; the original eight stars only entered a small part of it, essentially a small side-quest. They’ve completed that, but there’s an entire world out there."
"So we create another quest?"
The director’s eyes lit up, as if he thought of something.
Tech personnel shook his head: "We don’t need to set things up. Why not just let them play? Although reality shows have elements of showmanship, we strive for authenticity. Let them handle situations according to their abilities; we don’t have to set traps or outcomes. Isn’t that more interesting?"
No doubt, the tech personnel’s idea was more appealing.
The director slapped the table: "Alright, let’s do that. Let them play and see what they come up with."
Meanwhile, in the J Town research lab, several people were surrounding Anning, asking questions.
After spending more than two days together, they had developed some tacit understanding and friendship. They wanted to ask Anning what to do next.
Chu Ming looked expectantly at Anning: "Sister, what should we do next? Should we go back to A City, or..."
Ning Kexin was also watching Anning, wanting to know her thoughts.
Anning stroked her chin, smiling sweetly: "Do you know what things were like before the apocalypse?"
Before the apocalypse?
He Gang, the oldest, began to recall life before the apocalypse: "Before the apocalypse, people lived on the ground, could see blue skies and white clouds, feel the sun, without the trouble of zombies; most led peaceful, quiet, and prosperous lives, not lacking food or clothing, free to bathe, eat whatever they wanted..."
His memories brought an indescribable peace and contentment to everyone.
The group began to imagine how good life must have been then.
Anning asked He Gang: "Brother He, if--I’m just asking if there’s a chance--would you dare to do something big?"
"Big?"
He Gang looked puzzled: "What do you mean?"
Anning didn’t say everything: "How about we build a base first?"
"Our own base?"
Chu Ming became very excited: "Sister, tell us. What are we going to do?"
Fang Xiaolian found it somewhat unbelievable: "Are you crazy? You want to build a base? Is it that easy to build a base? There are only six of us and nothing but medicine. What are you going to use to build a base?"
"Who said we have nothing? As long as we have the medicine, people out there will bring us everything we need."
Anning laughed: "Now, I need to concoct a drug that can treat zombie virus infections."
She didn’t pay attention to Fang Xiaolian but focused on concocting medicine again.
Anning spent a day and successfully made the medicine.
She told Ma Fendou: "Brother Ma, take the others to the surface to collect usable steel materials and components, anything you find useful. Can you do that?"
"Yes."
With their superpowers restored, the team’s confidence in completing tasks was naturally high.
Anning started tweaking the computer, while Ma Fendou and others went to the surface to gather machines.
Over the next few days, they slowly transported some almost junked machines back.
With the computer adjusted, Anning began dismantling the machines brought back, piece by piece, starting to assemble.
Soon, a robot was born from Anning’s hands.
More than ten days later, various defense weapons were installed on the outskirts of J Town by Anning.
Besides various weapons, Anning set up a protective array around J Town and implemented several security measures inside.
"What’s she trying to do?"
S Company’s executives watched Anning’s antics and were momentarily unsure of her intentions.
However, they were all quite interested.
Now, whenever it’s not mealtime or sleeping, S Company’s executives and tech personnel generally gathered in Anning’s livestream room, eager to see just how far she could go.
After completing various defenses, Anning started linking several computers together.
Chu Ming leaned over to ask: "Sister, what are you going to do?"
Anning smiled: "Connect to the satellite."
Chu Ming was startled: "Sister, what did you used to do? Why do I feel like you’re omnipotent?"
Anning continued typing on the keyboard: "I used to be God."
Ma Fendou brought over some soup: "Have some."
Anning gestured for it to be set aside: "I’ll finish this soon."
She typed the last character: "Done, I’ve connected to the satellite and sent an announcement to the leaders of various bases, informing them that J Town is now our territory and we have developed a drug that can treat virus infections. If they’re interested, they can bring resources for exchange."
"What?"
The group felt that everything they’d seen recently was more shocking than what they’d seen in years past and incredible; following Anning, they realized how shallow their past experiences were and what true excitement meant.
Anning patted Chu Ming: "I mean, we’ll soon have enough food and drinks."
Chu Ming stammered: "Sister, can we get some clothes? Ones that look nice."
"Sure."
Anning agreed.
She picked up the soup and drank it in one gulp: "From now on, follow me for the good life."
Anning set the measuring cup down on the table and pulled up a chair to sit: "Alright, let’s start assigning tasks."
The group gathered around.
Anning continued: "Sister Xin, you, Brother He, and Xiao Lian get ready to exchange resources, while Brother Ma and Chu Ming handle defense at the rear. I’ll take a nap, and then we’ll figure out the next move."
After delegating the tasks, Anning found a place to lie down, still dressed.
These days she had tirelessly researched and prepared medicines, utterly exhausted and sleepy, and soon fell asleep.
Ning Kexin fetched a blanket to cover Anning and called the others to gather. They carefully packed the medicines Anning had prepared into especially small glass bottles.
These bottles were found in the upper floors of the hospital, initially containing various medicines. They poured out the useless medicines, cleaned up the bottles, and now filled them with their own concoctions.
Once packed, the five gathered to discuss how to exchange resources and determine the right amount in exchange for one bottle.
At this time, Fang Xiaolian was particularly dedicated.
After all, this concerned survival.
Although she knew this was a reality show, she didn’t know how long until liberation. She didn’t want to keep eating bland food; she wanted to eat well, dress well, and live well.
Moreover, at this point, Fang Xiaolian was resigned.
She dared not go against Anning anymore, not even to speak a harsh word.
Seeing Anning made her fearful.
After all, Anning was a genius capable of creating robots from nearly useless parts—a powerhouse. Going against such a figure would certainly be asking for trouble.
