The City's Strongest Son-in-law-Chapter 280: Set Up
Chapter 280: Chapter 280: Set Up
"Sun Gui, you’ve really got some guts, huh? Beat him up hard," said Brother Baldie.
A few of Brother Baldie’s men proceeded to pummel Sun Gui, and even someone as obnoxious as Zhao Meili couldn’t dare make a peep now. Although she was a shrew, she knew better than to provoke certain people. Stirring up trouble in front of someone like Brother Baldie was tantamount to seeking one’s own demise.
"Brother Baldie, what’s going on? I haven’t provoked you. Why have your people come for me?" Sun Gui said.
"You damn well took 20,000 but only gave me 10,000. Your guts really have grown, huh? You even dared to pocket my money?" Brother Baldie walked up to Sun Gui and landed a punch straight on his face.
Blood rushed out of his nose as Sun Gui covered his face, crying out in pain.
How did he know about the 20,000? Had that bitch Sun Wan betrayed him?
But how did he end up here with Brother Baldie?
"Brother Baldie, I’ll give you all the money. Please spare me this time," Sun Gui pleaded as blood seeped through his fingers, kneeling down.
Zhao Meili was extraordinarily sensitive about money. She had previously given Sun Gui a thousand; why was it being brought up as 20,000 now?
"Brother Baldie, you must have misunderstood. I only gave Sun Gui 10,000 before, so where’s this claim of 20,000 coming from?" Zhao Meili, worried about losing more money, felt this matter needed clarifying.
"Another one? So altogether it’s 30,000?" Brother Baldie sneered.
Sun Gui almost cried; turns out he could’ve gotten another 10,000, but with Zhao Meili’s comment, he wouldn’t see a dime.
"You brat, how did you end up with 30,000? What’s really going on here? Speak up!" She grabbed Sun Gui’s ear and shouted, unconcerned with how severely he was being beaten, since money was more important than her son.
"Mom, it was Sun Wan. Sun Wan gave me 20,000 and told me to find someone to deal with Tang Qiulu," Sun Gui said.
Zhao Meili couldn’t help but apply more pressure in her grip. Sun Gui had never mentioned that 20,000; clearly, he planned to keep it to himself. Zhao Meili couldn’t accept such behavior!
"Hurry up and hand over the money," Zhao Meili demanded.
"The money he hands over belongs to me, and it doesn’t concern you one bit. Now get lost," said Brother Baldie.
Only now did Zhao Meili find herself stunned, regretting her actions to the point of wanting to slap herself. She finally realized the foolishness of what she had done.
"Brother Baldie, 10,000 should be enough to deal with Tang Qiulu, no need for 30,000," Zhao Meili said, feigning a pitiful demeanor.
"30,000 can get you a front-row seat to witness Tang Qiulu’s final fate. That price is just right, come with me," Brother Baldie said with an ostensibly indifferent face, although inside he was freaking out.
He was merely following Su Changfeng’s orders at this point, knowing full well that once Su Changfeng took care of these folks, he wouldn’t be able to escape either.
Being able to see it with her own eyes was precisely what Zhao Meili desired.
Previously, she had lamented over not being able to watch personally, feeling like she had wasted her money, but now, having spent 30,000, there was no way to get it back. She wouldn’t miss this chance.
"Brother Baldie, we don’t mind watching, but can we make sure Tang Qiulu doesn’t see us?" Zhao Meili asked.
Seeing Zhao Meili’s smile, Brother Baldie secretly cursed her for being foolish enough not to know whom she had offended.
"Of course, since you’ve paid, I’ll surely prepare well for you," Brother Baldie replied.
"Then no problem, let’s leave right now," Zhao Meili said with a smile.
Sun Gui felt somewhat enlightened; Brother Baldie wasn’t usually so compliant, why did he suddenly seem like a different person?
Upon arriving at the pool hall, Brother Baldie led Sun Gui’s family to the basement.
Sun Wan and Tang Qiulu were each in a corner, while two other individuals stood in separate corners.
However, Sun Gui’s family didn’t care about these two people, as they were seen as Brother Baldie’s lackeys.
"You can speak freely; Tang Qiulu’s ears are blocked, she won’t hear anything," Brother Baldie told Sun Gui’s family.
Zhao Meili hesitated, fearing Tang Qiulu might discover them, so she tentatively called out, "Tang Qiulu."
Seeing no reaction from Tang Qiulu, Zhao Meili felt fearless and said to Brother Baldie, "Brother Baldie, we’ve paid you the 30,000, you should at least make us feel it’s worth it."
Brother Baldie coldly replied, "Sure, why don’t you come up with a plan?"
Zhao Meili had already conceived a way in her head: making both Su Changfeng and Tang Qiulu suffer. If Brother Baldie slept with Tang Qiulu, she’d become sullied, giving Su Changfeng a ’green hat’. It was a win-win proposition.
"Brother Baldie, what do you think of Tang Qiulu’s appearance?" Zhao Meili asked.
"Zhao Meili, do you know what you’re doing?" Sun Fada scolded.
Despite having discussed it casually at home, he hadn’t thought to argue against Zhao Meili. But now, saying such things in front of Brother Baldie was inappropriate. Could she truly want Tang Qiulu to be slept with by Brother Baldie?
Zhao Meili glared at Sun Fada, "Sun Fada, why are you interrupting now? Don’t you remember I nearly died at the hands of Su Changfeng, that coward? And Tang Qiulu even hit Sun Gui, even if he dies, it won’t satisfy my anger!"
"I really want to see his face when he finds out Tang Qiulu got involved with someone else. I can’t wait!"
"Zhao Meili, Tang Qiulu is your niece; why are you doing this?" Sun Fada asked.
Coldly, Zhao Meili replied, "What niece? Does she ever give me money to spend? Why should I sympathize? When someone was choking me, it was my neck being strangled, so don’t talk big and cozy now."
Sun Fada released his clenched fists, sighed helplessly, "Zhao Meili, Qiulu calls you ’Aunt’."
"I’m ashamed to call myself her aunt," Zhao Meili dismissed Sun Fada and said to Brother Baldie, "Brother Baldie, don’t you want a taste?"
Brother Baldie, already sweating from his body after hearing this, glanced at the two people in the corner and asked, "Are you sure?"
"Definitely, don’t blame me Zhao Meili for being merciless; blame Su Changfeng for being too obnoxious," Zhao Meili grumbled through gritted teeth.
At that moment, the two individuals standing in the corner began to walk towards them, the closer they came, the clearer their features became.
"Su Changfeng!" Zhao Meili exclaimed in shock; why was Su Changfeng here?
"Only now do I realize how deeply you loathe me, Aunt," Tang Qiulu said, rising from her corner and walking towards Zhao Meili.
