Vera Xavier said quickly, "I was just about to explain things to them when you arrived!"

They weren’t worthy of an explanation from her, and she had no need to justify herself to them.

She said softly, "Mr. Nathan, you have a weak heart. Please don’t get worked up over something like this."

"How can I not be angry?" Master Nathan shot her a glare. "These bastards are bullying the person who saved my life! If I don’t show some emotion now, then I’ve lived this whole life for nothing."

He then turned and boomed to the crowd, "As for Vera Xavier supposedly ’running away from home’ for those two days, what really happened is she stumbled upon me having a heart attack! She saved my life, and seeing that I had no one with me, she stayed and cared for me for two days until my family arrived. Every doctor and nurse at City First Hospital can testify to this!"

The moment he finished speaking, Daisy Archer and Wesley Kane both started to tremble. They never imagined that Vera Xavier had spent those two days with the Nathan Family!

The Nathan Family was a power they could never hope to offend in their entire lives!

Master Nathan’s imposing gaze fell upon Daisy Archer and Wesley Kane. He asked, "You just said Vera was at your house those few days. Is that really true?"

Daisy Archer scrambled to say, "We were just spouting nonsense! It was all nonsense! Vera Xavier has never once been to our house!"

Overcome with shame and indignation, Daisy Archer and Wesley Kane tried to flee, but Vera Xavier blocked their path. "Archer, since things have gotten to this point, I feel it’s necessary to set the record straight about Wesley Kane and me."

Daisy Archer opened her mouth to curse, but a piercing glare from Master Nathan shot over, making her swallow a bellyful of curses. He said, "Speak."

Vera Xavier said slowly, "I admit, my family did once arrange for me to be engaged to Wesley Kane. But we were never truly married—we never signed a marriage certificate. The reason I refused to marry him is because he sleeps with prostitutes!"

With that, she pulled a stack of photos from her backpack and threw them into the crowd. "Here’s the proof!"

When Daisy Archer saw the pictures, she was completely stunned. She never dreamed that Vera Xavier had so many of *those* photos!

She lunged to snatch the photos. "Don’t look! Stop looking!"

But it was too late. Everyone had already seen them.

Vera Xavier said coldly, "So, this whole incident today was just your retaliation for me breaking off the engagement!"

She then turned to Wesley Kane and said, "You’re a piece of scum. Even if you manage to ruin my reputation today, I’d rather marry a pig or a dog than ever marry you!"
