Chapter 120: Chapter 120: Want Me to Kiss You?

Nathaniel Nathan saw Vera Xavier staring at him with wide eyes. He asked her softly, "Are you looking at me like that because you want me to kiss you?"

Vera promptly turned her head, refusing to look at him. He whispered in her ear, "You know, when you stare at someone so intently, it’s like an invitation to sin. From now on, you’re forbidden from looking at any other man that way. Only me."

His voice was low and husky. As he spoke so close to her, the warmth of his breath tickled her ear, sending a flutter through her heart.

Vera resisted the urge to turn and look at him. She knew he was just waiting for her to turn back so he could take advantage of the moment.

She took a deep breath, picked up the more challenging test her math teacher had given her the day before, and asked, "How do you solve this problem?"

’He wanted to tutor her, didn’t he? Fine. She’d give him the hardest problem she had and wait to see him eat his own words.’

However, she had ultimately underestimated Young Master Nathan’s abilities. He glanced at her, picked up a pen, and in less than five minutes, had the correct answer for the very problem that had stumped her until midnight the night before.

Vera watched him solve the entire problem, and her reaction could be summed up in a single word: Brilliant!

’Every step was incredibly concise, yet he grasped the most critical logic. It was a truly elegant solution.’

She gulped. ’No wonder he’s so arrogant,’ she thought. ’He actually has the skills to back it up.’

"Did you understand?" Nathaniel Nathan asked.

Vera nodded. Nathaniel Nathan asked again, "Which other ones are you stuck on?"

After seeing how easily he solved that problem, Vera suspected that none of the math problems her teacher gave her would be challenging enough for him.

So she flipped to a physics problem and handed the paper to him. "I can’t get this one." 𝗳𝐫𝚎𝗲𝚠𝚎𝗯𝕟𝐨𝘃𝚎𝗹.𝗰𝗼𝗺

Nathaniel Nathan shot her a scornful look. "You can’t even solve a problem this simple? How did you manage to rank third in the whole school? Or is the standard for your year just that low?"

Before Vera could speak, Cara Preston’s voice drifted in from outside. "Nathan, you might not know this, but there was something questionable about my sister’s score on this last exam. She was just incredibly lucky, which is how she placed third in our grade. If she had to take the test again, I doubt she’d be so fortunate."

When she got home, Rona Langdon told her that Nathaniel Nathan had arrived and was upstairs tutoring Vera. Cara had panicked instantly, muttering, "I can’t believe my sister! How could she be alone in a room with Nathan? If word gets out, she’ll bring shame to our entire family!"

After saying that, she’d grabbed her schoolbag and torn upstairs like a madwoman. But when she arrived, she found Vera’s door wide open. Although Nathaniel Nathan was sitting on the bed, the two of them looked perfectly well-behaved; nothing was going on.

So when she overheard Nathaniel’s comment, she saw the perfect opportunity to jump in, using it as an excuse to put Vera down once more.

Vera said with a smile, "Since you’re so brilliant, why don’t you solve this one?"

"Sure!" Cara Preston declared shamelessly. "My academic foundation is still a little stronger than my sister’s."

Even though Vera had come out of nowhere to rank third in the school this time, in Cara’s eyes, she simply wasn’t capable of it. Cara had always believed that the best Vera could do was scrape by with a passing grade.

Vera was all too familiar with her mindset and couldn’t be bothered to argue, so she simply handed the test paper over.
