The CEO's Wife Is a Medical Master-Chapter 117: You’re the Best
Vera Xavier felt that Nathaniel Nathan was being far too conspicuous. ’He just visited my house once,’ she thought. ’Does that count as making things official? Is he planning on escorting me to and from school from now on?’
She turned to glance at Shirley Forrest. Shirley was usually such a cool and aloof girl, but right now, she was just standing there like an idiot. She hadn’t even noticed the lollipop falling out of her mouth.
’It’s true,’ Vera mused. ’No matter how normal a person is, they become abnormal the moment they encounter Nathaniel Nathan.’
Carrying Vera Xavier’s schoolbag for her, Nathaniel Nathan walked at a blistering pace. She practically had to jog to keep up with him. As they neared his car, he finally seemed to realize, rather belatedly, that she was struggling.
He slowed his pace a little, and she could finally catch her breath.
He gave her a disdainful look. "Your physical stamina is terrible."
Vera retorted irritably, "You’re a top-tier expert at a security company. How could I possibly compare to you!"
"How did you know I’m a top-tier expert at a security company?" Nathaniel Nathan asked, looking at her.
Vera froze on the spot. The public rumors only said that Nathaniel Nathan had joined a security company after returning to the country; no one knew what he actually did there. The only reason she knew was because of her memories from her past life.
And with that one careless comment, she had let it slip.
’What do I do? What do I do? Nathaniel Nathan isn’t that easy to fool!’
Vera’s mind raced, and she finally came up with an excuse. "I guessed!"
Nathaniel Nathan frowned slightly, so Vera decided to lay the flattery on thick. "You managed to silently scale the wall of my house all the way to the third floor. An ordinary security company employee definitely couldn’t do that. Plus, you’ve always been an incredibly fast learner. I figured only a title like ’top-tier expert’ could possibly match your abilities. And with your skills, if you joined a security company, you’d obviously be the best one there—a bona fide top-tier expert."
These words were very pleasing to Nathaniel Nathan’s ears. Every man wants to be seen as the most capable in the eyes of the woman he likes.
So, he offered her a bit of praise, "You have good judgment."
Vera’s mouth twitched. ’Young Master Nathan, you just accept a compliment like that? Could you be any more shameless?’
Nathaniel Nathan added, "Having such good judgment proves you have the potential to join a security company, too. After your exams are over, I’ll have someone train you for three months."
Vera was a bit dazed. "Train me?"
"That’s right." Nathaniel Nathan squeezed her arm. "You’re too skinny, and your constitution is too weak. I’m afraid you won’t be able to keep up with my pace, so you must undergo very strict training."
She hadn’t known much about him in her past life, but based on her few interactions with him in this one, she was discovering that he was actually a stoic with a hidden mischievous side. Because of this, she was highly suspicious that he had just used that as an excuse to touch her.
Nathaniel Nathan found her guarded expression amusing, but his face remained completely blank. "Why are you hugging yourself so tightly? This sort of thing is perfectly normal in a training camp."
Vera scoffed at his explanation. ’Does he really think I’m some naive girl who doesn’t know anything? Trying to fool me like that!’
