Chapter 48 -48: Do You Need Me to Hold You_1
Xia Qingtian had been annoyed by Luo Nainai’s constant nagging. This prompted her to halt in her tracks, knitting her brows.
Seeing this, Luo Nainai thought her words had effectively provoked Xia Qingtian and continued, “A highborn man like Bo Jingyan may have momentarily taken an interest in you, but he’s just playing games with you! Once he grows bored of you, he’ll discard you in an instant!”
“Just how long do you intend to go on about this?” Xia Qingtian asked, her gaze upon Luo Nainai was as cold as her expressionless face.
“What, did I hit a nerve?”
Luo Nainai sneered, casually picking up the necklace around Xia Qingtian’s neck. After a moment of examination, she sardonically said, “You’re just after money. If you apologize to me now and leave Bo Jingyan, whatever amount of money he promised you, I’ll give you ten times more! Isn’t this a profitable deal?”
Xia Qingtian brushed her hand off and laughed, “By that logic, isn’t it even more laughable that Bo Jingyan won’t give consideration to you despite your wealth and influence?”
“You—”
Luo Nainai was stunned, immediately blushing at Xia Qingtian’s words. It was incredibly embarrassing for her.
No one had ever dared to humiliate her like this!
Catching sight of a fish pond right behind Xia Qingtian, without much thought, she shoved Xia Qingtian into it.
Caught off guard, Xia Qingtian fell right into the fish pond.
“Mmm—”
The icy cold pond water quickly enveloped her. Xia Qingtian thrashed about in the water, gulping down mouthfuls of it causing great discomfort.
She can’t swim!
“Help!—”
Blurry vision induced by the water in her eyes, Xia Qingtian could only see the silhouette of Luo Nainai standing ashore.
Water filled her ears and nostrils, leaving her coughing and struggling to breathe. She was frantically flailing her arms and legs, hoping to catch someone’s attention.
A din…she was in crisis…
She was finding it gradually difficult to breathe…
Someone…could anyone save her…
She didn’t wish to die here…
Bo Jingyan, where are you…
Her struggle for life eventually weakened.
On seeing Xia Qingtian on the brink of passing out, Luo Nainai panicky fled the scene, fearing she’d be found guilty of her mischief.
Xia Qingtian’s eyelids slowly dropped. She could feel the increasing pressure on her chest. It felt as if all the air around her was being rapidly sucked away, leaving her breathless.
“Xia Qingtian!”
Everything in front of her was fading to black. Just before she fainted, she heard a frantic roar of anxiety.
Is it Bo Jingyan?

Before she could understand the situation, she lost consciousness. Like a lifeless rock, she sunk straight down into the water.
Just as all this was happening, Bo Jingyan happened to step out of the banquet hall. After discussing important affairs with Henry, he headed towards the garden to look for Xia Qingtian and plan their departure together.
When he arrived at the swing, she was nowhere in sight. Just then, he heard a cry for help from the pond. Without any hesitation, he rushed towards its edge.
Damn it!
She couldn’t have met with an accident!
When he reached the pond, he didn’t find Xia Qingtian. Just as he was about to dismiss his previous apprehension, he saw a splash in the water.
His pupils shrank, and his heart felt as if it were gripped tight. An inexplicable fear coursed through him.
With no second thoughts, he took off his coat and jumped into the icy water. He swam towards Xia Qingtian as fast as he could. After obsessively searching, he found her sinking underwater.
Hurriedly swimming up to her, he grabbed her icy body. On finding her unconscious, he held her tight once again and started swimming towards the shore.
The dramatic event quickly gained everyone’s attention. The banquet guests thronged to see what was happening, quickly filling the surroundings of the pond.
Having brought Xia Qingtian ashore, Bo Jingyan carefully settled her on the ground.
She was soaked to the skin. Her eyes were tightly shut. Her delicate face was as pale as paper, and her thin lips were devoid of any color. She seemed lifeless…
Anxious, Bo Jingyan quickly removed his shirt to cover her body and began performing mouth to mouth resuscitation.
Damn it!
Xia Qingtian, you must pull through!
He firmly pressed his hands down on her abdomen while constantly blowing air into her mouth.
After a few minutes, Xia Qingtian choked and coughed, expelling water forcefully through her mouth.
Seeing this, Bo Jingyan heaved a sigh of relief.
Xia Qingtian coughed out several more mouthfuls of water before gradually opening her moist, blurry eyes.
In front of her was the anxious face of Bo Jingyan.
Bo Jingyan…
Did he save her?
Before she could register what had happened, Bo Jingyan held her close, hugging her tight against his chest.
Xia Qingtian’s body stiffened momentarily. Her brain was a little fogged, and her face was pressed against Bo Jingyan’s wet chest. She could hear his strong, erratic heartbeat quite clearly.
What happened?
Why was he suddenly holding her?
“Don’t be afraid, you are safe now,” Bo Jingyan, while holding her, soothingly stroked the back of her head. He seemed to be consoling her or perhaps himself.
The mansion’s staff soon brought a large bath towel.
Bo Jingyan took it, wrapped Xia Qingtian in it, and scooped her up in his arms.
Her mind was dizzy and her body felt weak. She leaned helplessly against Bo Jingyan’s chest.
Seeing Xia Qingtian in such a state, Luo Nainai felt extremely guilty. She swiftly vanished into the crowd.
Bo Jingyan, holding Xia Qingtian close, quickly walked away. The crowd around them parted ways to make way for them.
The two of them arrived back at the villa as quickly as they could.
The moment they entered, Bo Jingyan summoned their private doctor. He then carried Xia Qiantian upstairs.
In their bedroom.
He set Xia Qingtian down on the sofa while he went to the bathroom to prepare a warm bath for her.
She was freezing; she needed to get warm quickly.
Wrapped in a towel, soaking wet, Xia Qingtian was sitting on the sofa. She glanced around and noticed that she was in Bo Jingyan’s bedroom.
“The bath is ready.”
Just as she was thinking, Bo Jingyan appeared from the bathroom.
He was dressed only in a soaking wet white shirt with a loose tie. His cold expression was switched to a hint of concern which was comforting.
Walking straight towards Xia Qingtian, he looked at her and asked in a low, sexy voice, “Do you think you can stand up, or do you need me to carry you there?”
