Chapter 481: Little Darling, Big Hearts

Zhōu Mùhán said Kaka was in the garden. Chǔchǔ pulled him along to the garden. They met Fāng Jiāqí head-on. Chǔchǔ sweetly called out, "Sister Jiāqí," then ran toward Kaka. "Brother..."

The little girl pounced on Kaka from behind, wrapping her arms around his neck and kissing his cheek several times. "Poor brother, you’re in a wheelchair! But you look super handsome even in a wheelchair."

Kaka was quite surprised. Chǔchǔ pouted and tried to kiss his lips, but Zhōu Mùhán, coming up behind, pulled her away by her collar. Chǔchǔ glared at him with an aggrieved look. Kaka didn’t know whether to laugh or cry. "My little darling, why are you here? Do Daddy and Mommy know I’m injured?"

"They don’t know," Chǔchǔ said with a smile. "Since you didn’t tell them, of course, I didn’t either. Brother Mùhán accidentally let it slip when I was chatting with him."

Zhōu Mùhán glared at her. The girl had sold him out again. However, he was also surprised that Chǔchǔ had rushed back without telling him in advance. Chǔchǔ continued, "I told Daddy I missed you, so he let me come back."

"Did you really miss your brother?" Kaka asked with a smile. The bad mood of the past few days was chased away by Chǔchǔ’s smile. He affectionately pulled his sister to sit down, looking at Zhōu Mùhán sideways with a half-smile. "You only came to see me by the way, didn’t you?"

Chǔchǔ’s eyes widened. They were already big, and when she widened them, they looked like two black grapes. "Brother, I care about you so much! I rushed to see you as soon as I heard you were hurt, and you say that? You’ve broken your sister’s heart."

Chǔchǔ dramatically clutched her chest. Kaka laughed even harder. Zhōu Mùhán on the side muttered, "Your expression is too cheerful. It doesn’t look like you’re worried about your brother at all."

"Hmph!" she said playfully, then asked, "Where is Sister Wushuang? Has she woken up?"

Kaka’s mood clouded over again. Fāng Jiāqí had been standing with the cup of water for a while. Only after the siblings had their fill of each other did she hand the cup to Kaka. Chǔchǔ smiled at her, and Fāng Jiāqí returned the smile.

"Your Sister Wushuang hasn’t woken up yet."

Chǔchǔ said, "If Uncle Mò Jué knew Sister Wushuang was hurt, Brother, I think your leg would be... *snip*..."

She made a cutting gesture.

"So I must thank you for saving my leg?" Kaka asked with a helpless laugh.

"Absolutely!" Chǔchǔ said without modesty. "Remember you owe me a favor."

After spending some time together, Chǔchǔ went to see Wushuang. Mò Yáo and Mò Xiǎobái were also surprised to see her there. "Little Darling, why are you here?"

The question was exactly the same as Kaka’s.

Chǔchǔ sat down on his lap easily. Mò Xiǎobái held her. "I came to see Sister Wushuang and my brother. Brother Xiǎobái, Big Brother Mò, you should go get some sleep. You have such dark circles."

Mò Yáo stroked her head and didn’t speak. Mò Xiǎobái said, "How are my Daddy and Mommy?"

"They’re great, don’t worry. I’ve been a good girl; I didn’t tell them," Chǔchǔ said. She then got up and walked to the glass window to look at Wushuang. The Intensive Care Unit was quiet, with no sound except for the instruments, a very unsettling noise.

Chǔchǔ frowned. She didn’t like that sound either.

Mò Yáo and Mò Xiǎobái had been outside the hospital room for days and were very tired. Both of them adored Chǔchǔ. At the moment, they weren’t in the mood for much conversation with her. After a few brief words, Chǔchǔ sat down nearby. Mò Yáo said, "You must be tired from the flight. Why don’t you go rest?"

"I’m not tired. I’m full of energy," Chǔchǔ said with a smile. "I’ll keep you company here! Look at you two, so bored, not talking. You won’t mind me being a third wheel, will you? I’d be sad if you did."

"You talk too much!" Mò Xiǎobái tapped her head with a smile, extending his arm for her to sit down. Chǔchǔ shyly sat on Mò Xiǎobái’s lap. Mò Xiǎobái held her, resting his head on her shoulder to sleep. "It’s been a while since I’ve hugged a beauty."

Mò Yáo looked at him coldly, utterly disdainful.

Chǔchǔ giggled and asked, "How many points out of ten would you give this beauty?"

"Ten!"

"Wow, then you can hug me," Chǔchǔ said with a laugh. Mò Xiǎobái fell asleep almost immediately after resting his head on her shoulder. Seeing him asleep, Chǔchǔ asked Mò Yáo curiously, "Big Brother Mò, why did he fall asleep as soon as I came?"

"He has company," Mò Yáo said faintly. Chǔchǔ made a sound of understanding. Mò Yáo knew she had misunderstood, but didn’t explain. He did indeed have company. For days, it had been the few of them outside with Wushuang. Kaka had just woken up and couldn’t sit for too long with his injuries. Zhōu Mùhán was busy and only came occasionally. Ghost Face wasn’t close to the brothers, was taciturn, and would only sit for a while before leaving.

With the two brothers keeping vigil for Wushuang, everyone was exhausted. If Xiǎobái slept, Mò Yáo would have no one to talk to.

People got bored easily. With Chǔchǔ here, Xiǎobái felt at ease enough to go to sleep, because Chǔchǔ was one of the few women Mò Yáo would actually pay attention to.

"Brother Xiǎobái is silly. It’s more comfortable to lean on you than on me," Chǔchǔ pouted. Mò Yáo hummed. "He doesn’t appreciate quality."

"Exactly."

Wushuang remained in a coma for over ten days, but finally moved out of the critical period. Her life was completely saved, and she was transferred to a regular ward. She briefly woke up, then fell asleep again. Her condition had become critical several times, hanging by a thread, but ultimately she recovered.

When she woke up, the first thing she saw was Kaka sitting by her bedside.

It was still early dawn, and her vision wasn’t very clear. He sat by the bed, smiling as he looked at her. Wushuang tried to return the smile, but couldn’t. Her body felt uncomfortable, and she groggily closed her eyes again.

"Wushuang..." Kaka held her hand. "Don’t sleep anymore. You’ve slept for over twenty days. It’s time to wake up and talk to me."

Wushuang frowned. Had she really been asleep for over twenty days?

How lucky. She thought she was dead for sure this time. She didn’t expect to have only been in a coma for over twenty days. It felt good to see him first when she woke up. Daddy and Mommy must be very worried. She wondered if Daddy would hit Kaka.

"Do you want water?"

Wushuang nodded. Kaka went to the side to pour water for her. His walking was still unnatural; his bones hadn’t healed very well. Wushuang almost wanted to laugh seeing him walk. Kaka poured the water and carefully helped Wushuang drink.

"It’s not even light out yet. Why are you here?"

"You were going to wake up today. I wanted you to see me early," Kaka said, holding her hand and kissing it by his lips. "Wushuang, I almost lost you."

His voice carried sadness. She rarely saw him like this and was momentarily speechless.

Wushuang tried to prop herself up to sit. Kaka adjusted the bed, letting her lean slightly. Just as she was about to speak, he embraced her. His warm lips brushed hers. "Don’t talk. Let me hold you for a moment."
