The CEO's Substitute Ex-Wife-Chapter 143: Unwelcome Advances
Chapter 143: Unwelcome Advances
"You must be Anning’s new protégé. You have quite the look," a middle-aged man approached. Wen Nuan didn’t recognize him. He extended his hand. "I’m Yu Peng."
"Mr. Yu, hello," Wen Nuan extended her hand as well.
Yu Peng said, "I’ve seen your music videos, Miss Wen. You have a nice figure. Let me think, how can I get you into bed? How about this, what’s your price for a night?"
Wen Nuan’s face changed slightly, alternating between anger and embarrassment. When did soliciting become so blatant?
"Mr. Yu, what are you saying? I don’t understand," Wen Nuan said.
"Don’t pretend to be so noble. You know what I’m talking about. You came with Lin Ning just now; everyone’s saying you slept your way into this role. What difference does one more person make? I’ll specifically invest in a movie to make you the lead actress and propel you to fame," Yu Peng said proudly, with an air of condescension and disdain, as if granting a favor.
Wen Nuan let out a cold laugh. Men nowadays were truly becoming more despicable. They clearly thought female artists were like prostitutes, to be toyed with casually. They openly looked down on female artists, yet still came to solicit them, as if sleeping with a female artist proved something, or perhaps it satisfied their pathetic sense of superiority and self-esteem.
Having a beautiful woman by their side to show off was a vile mentality that Yu Peng displayed shamelessly.
Wen Nuan felt disgusted looking at his face.
"I’m sorry, you pick people, and I pick people too. I’m not interested in your kind," Wen Nuan said blandly, glancing away, wanting to leave, but Yu Peng blocked her.
He let out a few sarcastic laughs. "An actress, putting on such airs. What right do you have to pick and choose? Tell me, how much do you want?"
Wen Nuan bristled slightly. "Sir, have you never been rebuffed before? Consider this your first time. There’s always a first for everything. In public, you’re a man of status. Don’t lose your dignity along with your pride."
Yu Peng was enraged. As Wen Nuan walked away, he narrowed his eyes coldly. *Shameless hussy, she prefers punishment to a polite offer.*
Wen Nuan was alone for a moment when Zhou Chengge approached, asking with a smile, "Are you bored?"
"A little."
He smiled and said, "Come on, I’ll introduce you to some people."
He was a good senior colleague, and he didn’t mind helping out newcomers. *Beauty of the City* was originally meant to promote its female lead, and Zhou Chengge didn’t mind at all. Wen Nuan walked around with him, meeting many artists, directors, and investors. Being in the same circle, they had all heard of each other. Wen Nuan’s humble attitude made her quite likable.
"Chengge, long time no see! You’re looking even more handsome," Han Bi said, approaching with Ye Feimo, greeting Zhou Chengge.
"Indeed, long time no see," Zhou Chengge replied gently. His acquaintance with Han Bi wasn’t deep; they had only acted together in one play, with few scenes opposite each other. It was a casual acquaintance, so Zhou Chengge was rather surprised that Han Bi greeted him.
"Your starring movie is about to be released. I have high hopes for it. This time, you’ll definitely reach new heights," Han Bi said with a smile.
Wen Nuan muttered inwardly, *She’s speaking nonsense. She clearly has no hope for this film and even ridiculed Lin Ning, yet now she’s saying she has high hopes. She speaks differently to different people.*
Ye Feimo stood by her side, expressionless, as if he were merely an adornment for Han Bi, his gaze entirely fixed on Wen Nuan.
Wen Nuan didn’t look at him, as if she couldn’t see him, completely ignoring Ye Feimo’s presence.
"Miss Wen, we meet again. Has your last injury healed?" Han Bi asked, referring to the time Wen Nuan was accidentally injured on set.
"Thank you for your concern, it healed long ago," Wen Nuan replied coolly.
Han Bi smiled meaningfully, somewhat boastfully, clinging to Ye Feimo and saying intimately, "Feimo, why aren’t you greeting Miss Wen?"
Ye Feimo didn’t even look at her, his expression cold.
Wen Nuan smiled faintly. "How would President Ye remember a small fry like me? We won’t disturb you two. Please excuse us."
With that, she turned to leave. Zhou Chengge gave a friendly smile and followed her.
"Wen Nuan, do you know President Ye?"
"No," Wen Nuan’s voice was a little cold. Ye Feimo’s eyes darkened, and his fists clenched abruptly. "Don’t know her?" What a definitive "don’t know," spoken so resolutely, so certainly, allowing no room for doubt.
She said she didn’t know him.
Ye Feimo’s face was as grim as an old coffin lid, utterly unsightly.
Han Bi softly said, "Feimo, you finally agreed to come to a film festival with me. Try to be happy, okay? Don’t be so sullen."
Her tone had a touch of playful coquetry.
Ye Feimo looked at Wen Nuan’s retreating back and said coldly, "Do you think I wanted to come with you?"
He missed Wen Nuan.
But he didn’t want Wen Nuan to know he missed her. He really wanted to see her but couldn’t find a reason. It just so happened that Han Bi invited him to the film festival, and Lin Ning mentioned that Zhou Chengge and Wen Nuan would be attending.
That’s why he agreed to come with Han Bi. If it weren’t for that, he feared he wouldn’t even have an excuse.
Was she still angry?
This time, she seemed truly furious, treating him like air. Ye Feimo let out a cold snort in his heart.
Han Bi’s expression darkened. Looking in Wen Nuan’s direction, she said, "She’s never short of admirers, Feimo. Why bother worrying about her?"
"If not her, then you?"
Han Bi was speechless.
Wen Nuan and Zhou Chengge accepted interviews from local reporters, discussing topics related to the film. Both were dutifully promoting the movie. The cool and beautiful director was having a blast with old friends on the set, completely ignoring them.
Finally, the film festival ended, and Lin Ning, Zhou Chengge, and a few others left. They were staying at the Marriott Hotel.
Zhou Chengge asked Wen Nuan if she was hungry and suggested they go to the coffee shop upstairs for coffee. Lin Ning also happened to want coffee and some snacks. So, the few of them went to the coffee shop and called over many of the crew members for a lively late-night meal.
"Everyone, eat to your heart’s content! Director Lin is treating!" Wen Nuan clapped her hands and laughed, inviting Cheng Ying to sit next to her, playfully teasing.
Director Lin said, "Treating whom? This is expense-reimbursed by the company. Eat as much as you want; you won’t break Young Master Ye’s bank."
Everyone laughed, except Wen Nuan.
Bringing up Ye Feimo, she consciously tried to ignore the discomfort in her heart, then remembered the image of him and Han Bi together. They truly did look like a perfect match, a couple made in heaven.
She wondered if she stood beside Ye Feimo, she probably wouldn’t look as dazzling.
Just now, it seemed as if they were truly born for each other.
Although her good feelings for Han Bi had dwindled, Han Bi, after all, had come this far. She possessed her own charm and grace, and it was not surprising that men liked women like her.
Yet, she still felt a little uneasy.
Thinking of Ye Feimo and the nickname "Little Han Bi," Wen Nuan felt as if she had swallowed a fly.
"Wen Nuan, why do you look unhappy? Are you tired?" Cheng Ying asked with concern. Wen Nuan and Zhou Chengge had participated in more promotions, and her dark circles were quite pronounced. Cheng Ying thought she must be exhausted.
"I’m fine, just a little sleepy," Wen Nuan said with a smile, taking a sip of coffee. It was bitter, and incredibly refreshing.
Wen Nuan smiled faintly. No wonder Ye Feimo used to like this kind of coffee; it was very comforting to drink when tired or fatigued.
"She’s not tired or sleepy; she’s just jealous," Lin Ning said grumpily.
Wen Nuan gave a guilty smile. Everyone else was oblivious, and Lin Ning naturally wouldn’t spell it out. He simply said, "Wen Nuan, if you’re tired, finish your drink quickly and go upstairs to sleep. Tomorrow you have to fly to the next city for promotions."
*Drink coffee and then sleep? What an unusual habit.*
"It must be raining red. Director Lin, when did you become so considerate?" Zhou Chengge teased.
Lin Ning bristled. "Are you implying I’m not considerate?"
Wen Nuan gave two forced laughs, disingenuously saying, "Very considerate, very considerate, haha."
Lin Ning hummed a few times. Wen Nuan finished her coffee and returned to her room, leaving them to drink slowly. Just as she swiped her card and entered the room, a dark figure lunged at her. Wen Nuan shrieked in fright, frantically yelling for help, but her mouth was covered.
"Mmmph... let me go..." Wen Nuan was startled and struggled desperately, punching the man in the stomach and stomping hard on his foot with her high heel. The man grunted, cursing under his breath.
Wen Nuan froze, stopped struggling, and reached for the light switch.
It was Ye Feimo, of course.
Wen Nuan was furious, her eyes wide. How dare he scare her like that?
She had thought a thief had entered the hotel and was panicking, only to find it was a false alarm.
Wen Nuan was enraged. Ye Feimo had intended to play a prank and scare her, but he unexpectedly took a few punches and a stomp from her high heel. He also glared back at her. Wen Nuan’s gaze turned cold. "Why are you here?"
No wonder Lin Ning, for once, had told her to go back to her room. He knew Ye Feimo was upstairs. No wonder, they were birds of a feather, truly close friends, clearly conspiring.
It was too much.
Wen Nuan was indignant, cursing Lin Ning repeatedly.
"Why can’t I be here?" Ye Feimo retorted, confidently walking further into the hotel room and lying down on the bed to rest.
"Ye Feimo, can you stop being so unreasonable? Get out, this is my room!" Wen Nuan said sternly. Why could he do whatever he wanted to her? She was truly fed up with his strange temper.
