The Celibate Tycoon Has Fallen-Chapter 80: How About You Come With Me?
Anne’s eyes were filled with despair as she clung tightly to Lindsay Walsh’s arm.
"Mom. I’m scared."
Lindsay Walsh pressed her head into her chest, also too frightened to speak.
The flashlight’s beam crisscrossed the walls, casting Yelena Hughes’s shadow long. She looked at them, her eyes full of pain.
"It’s okay, Mom. Anne, don’t be afraid."
Yelena moved to return to her room to get her phone, but the group came in quickly. The door wasn’t kicked open; instead, it was expertly unlocked with a magnetic card.
Tonight, Jasper Yale was invited as a guest, and the chain lock behind the door wasn’t fastened, so the three men came in effortlessly.
Yelena instinctively stepped in front of Anne.
The leading man glanced at the dishes on the table. "Not bad, such a lavish spread!"
He reached out his dirty hand, picked up a chicken leg, and stuffed it into his mouth, speaking with a muffled voice, "Living quite the good life, huh?"
"What do you want now?"
Yelena nudged Lindsay Walsh’s shoulder, "Take Anne back to the room first."
Anne wasn’t in good health and couldn’t take the fright. Lindsay held her, lifting her from the chair.
They had just taken a step when a man suddenly rushed in front of them.
He spoke loudly, his appearance naturally fierce, "Young girl, what are you hiding from? Your family’s dead dog tasted pretty good..."
Anne’s face turned pale, and Yelena reached out and pushed the man away. She guarded the people behind her fiercely, like a mother wolf protecting her cubs.
Her eyes were filled with anger and a desire to tear the man to pieces. "Get lost!"
The man, strong though he was, took only two steps back.
He continued to taunt Anne with glee. "Add a bit of cumin, and it’ll taste even better."
Anne lowered her gaze, not wanting her family to worry. She held back her emotions, but the dog had been with her for a long time, and her breathing became rapid.
The thing Yelena couldn’t stand the most was others targeting her family.
She wanted to take her sister back to the room, but the man wouldn’t allow it and grabbed her shoulder.
Yelena forcefully shook him off, "What do you still want? I’ve already called the police. You’re trespassing on private property; that’s illegal."
"But I haven’t done anything to you."
Did I hit anyone? No. 𝘧𝓇𝑒𝑒𝑤ℯ𝑏𝓃𝘰𝑣ℯ𝘭.𝘤ℴ𝘮
Did I take a single cent from your home? Also no. "Just joking with your sister. She’s the one who scares easily."
Mr. Hughes was missing, and as a mother, Lindsay Walsh should have stepped up.
But she was also timid, living every day in fear like a mouse scurrying across the street.
The only one who could stand in front of the family was Yelena.
The man tried to pull Yelena aside, but she refused to move, her eyes clear and resolute, ready to fight if they dared to step closer.
Everyone seemed to have forgotten about Jasper Yale.
He stood in the semi-darkness, watching coldly.
"Who are you people?"
The man beside looked over, oh, there’s someone else here.
"I wondered why the atmosphere was so good today. So the boyfriend’s visiting for the first time, huh? Is he your man or the short-lived sister’s lover?"
Yelena gritted her teeth, "You’re the short-lived one."
The man stepped in front of Jasper Yale and scrutinized him closely.
These ruffians, struggling at the bottom of society, were naturally shameless and truly naive.
For instance, when they saw Jasper Yale, they... didn’t recognize him.
"Pretty boy, looks good, dressed nice, skin looks pretty tender."
Slowly, Yelena shifted her attention to Jasper Yale’s face. This man, sitting there, anyone could tell he was nothing ordinary.
Being at the top of the food chain, his aura was unmatched.
But who could blame them for not understanding?
"Talking to you, what’s your relationship with this family?"
"No real relationship, just here for a meal." Jasper Yale didn’t like the focus on him.
He stood up, towering over the man, his imposing aura nearly crushing the man’s shoulders.
"You must be that short-lived girl’s lover. Why don’t you tell me... what’s it like to fool around with a terminally ill woman?"
The man said this while mimicking Anne’s breathless state, "Huff, huff... is it... very, very, exciting? Aren’t you afraid you’ll mess around a bit and accidentally kill her?"
Jasper Yale stared at the man’s face, truly deserving a beating.
Hearing these words made him uncomfortable, let alone Yelena.
Yelena told Lindsay Walsh to cover Anne’s ears, ready to endure anything aimed at her.
But the two people behind her couldn’t.
"Yes, my sister isn’t in good health. If anything happens to her, you’ll be facing prison time."
"Who are you trying to scare? We haven’t laid a finger on her."
The dim flashlight cast Yelena’s face in shadows. A man standing by the dining table pulled flowers from a vase, snapping the buds and tossing them to the floor.
He stepped on them mockingly, "Your dad must have secretly contacted you all, right? Tell him to come out, and I won’t make things difficult for you."
"No." No one hoped more for news of their father than Yelena.
These men assumed Jasper Yale was the new son-in-law visiting, interested in Yelena rather than Anne.
Alright, then let’s create some trouble tonight and see if this man still wants you.
The man patted Jasper Yale’s shoulder, "Pretty boy, you’re suffering a loss with this family. With your looks and figure, you could easily find a rich woman. Want me to introduce you?"
Jasper Yale lowered his shoulder, shaking off the man’s hand.
He didn’t even bother dusting himself off, finding it filthy.
The man recklessly added, "Or maybe you should come with me?"
The shadow by Jasper Yale’s feet twisted, his lips pressed tight, his brow hardened, and his eyes grew increasingly sharp.
Hailey Jenkins entered with some people, glanced around, and then walked to Jasper Yale’s side, "Young master."
"Close the door."
The bodyguard at the door immediately shut it.
Jasper Yale removed his black overcoat, revealing a suit of the same color underneath, and handed his coat to Hailey Jenkins.
"This guy’s mouth is filthy. Needs a good cleaning."
"Understood."
Jasper Yale looked at the trembling mother and daughter, "Let them stay in the room for now."
Yelena quickly pushed Anne and Lindsay Walsh into the room.
The men still hadn’t grasped the situation, "Who are you people? Stay out of this."
Behind the door, Anne heard wails from outside, causing her heart to throb with fear. "Sis..."
Yelena smiled at her reassuringly, "It’s alright, we have help. If you’re scared, just cover your ears."
"Okay."
Yelena closed the door and returned to the living room. The house was small, crowded with so many people.
Jasper Yale glanced at her, "Should we settle it here, or take it elsewhere?"
Yelena knew this situation wouldn’t end peacefully after Jasper was taunted like that, "Take them away."
This was her home, and she didn’t want to dirty it.
Hailey Jenkins instructed the men to take them out, footsteps echoing as they left.
Yelena thought Jasper Yale had left too. She looked down at the trampled flowers on the ground.
Jasper Yale watched her squatting down to try and pick them up.
Flowers that hardly appeared in their home all year round, now crushed like this.
Light enveloped her figure, and in that beam of light, Yelena shed tears.
