The Cat-Like Miss Preston: Mr. CEO begs for Reconciliation!-Chapter 137: Getting Bold, Daring to Bite Me
Chloe Preston was fuming, unable to hear a word he said. Her mind was consumed by the image of that woman on the floor, her blouse undone. If she had arrived a moment later, who knows what might have happened.
Chloe struggled in his grasp. "Let go! You’re hurting me!"
Genuinely afraid of hurting her, Donovan Xavier loosened his grip slightly but kept her imprisoned in his arms. "Chloe, don’t be upset. Please, listen to me explain, okay?" His voice remained gentle, as if coaxing a child.
"I don’t want to hear it! Let go of me!" Chloe was completely riled up, struggling with all her might to break free.
Donovan felt powerless. Seeing that she refused to listen and was causing a scene, he cupped her chin with one hand and kissed her.

"Let go, Donovan Xavier... Mmph..."
The more she struggled, the more fiercely he kissed her.
"No, Donovan... Mmph..."
Chloe pounded his chest with her fists, each blow a desperate protest. He kissed her so deeply she felt like she was suffocating.
A few employees passed by, and when they saw the provocative scene, they gasped and covered their mouths, their eyes going wide. Not daring to make a sound or stare, they quickly scurried away to give the couple space, terrified the man would fire them on a whim. The rich sure are wild, acting like no one else is around.
Chloe was forced to endure it, her face flushing with shame and anger as she used all her strength to push him away.
How could he do this? Can’t he see there are people around? Besides, I don’t want him to kiss me right now!
Donovan seemed to be challenging her. He refused to budge no matter how hard she pushed. Instead, he gripped the back of her head, his kiss growing even more wild and savage.
He’s so awful.
With no other option, Chloe parted her lips and bit down hard on his, breaking the skin. The metallic taste of blood filled her mouth.
Wincing slightly, Donovan released her. His expression was displeased. "Chloe Preston, you’ve gotten bold. You dare to bite me?"
Chloe said nothing. Tiny tears clung to her thick, curly lashes. Her face was vivid and beautiful, and her soft, red lips—now slightly swollen and glistening—were an unintentionally provocative sight. Her face set, Chloe raised a hand and roughly wiped the traces of his kiss from her lips.
Donovan’s face darkened. He leaned in close, staring directly into her eyes. "Disgusted with me?" he asked in a dangerous tone.
Chloe remained silent, biting her lip. Without giving him so much as a glance, she turned to leave.
Donovan’s anger instantly vanished. He strode forward, pulled her back, and dropped his arrogant facade, coaxing her softly, "Baby, I was wrong. I was wrong, alright?"
Listening to his voice and feeling the scorching heat from his body, Chloe’s eyes involuntarily welled with tears.
Donovan kissed her ear, then her forehead. "Chloe, please listen to my explanation, okay? I didn’t do anything. She tried to seduce me, and I was just about to throw her out."
"Chloe Preston, don’t you know what kind of man I am by now? I only want you. I only love you."
Chloe quieted down.
Two more employees passed by, their heads down. They quickened their pace, not daring to glance in their direction.
Chloe lowered her gaze, gave a couple of soft coughs, and tugged on his sleeve. "Let’s... let’s talk in the office first."
"Okay."
...
In the office, the overhead lights were glaringly bright. The woman had already been taken away by Liam Keane. The office was now cool and spacious, but the cloying sweet scent of perfume still lingered in the air, refusing to dissipate.
The scent made Chloe’s stomach turn.
Donovan quickly said, "I’ll have someone come clean this up. I promise there won’t be a trace of the smell left."
Chloe didn’t say a word. With an impassive expression, she walked over to the sofa and sat down by herself.
Donovan walked over as well, spotting an insulated container on the floor. He picked it up.
"Chloe, what kind of soup did you bring me?" he asked, trying to change the subject with a forced smile.
Chloe turned her body away, pointedly ignoring him.
Donovan sat beside her and gently wrapped an arm around her. "I already explained, didn’t I?" he coaxed. "Do you still not believe me? I’ve already made her disappear from Kryton. Aren’t you satisfied?"
"Baby, please talk to me, okay?"
"When you ignore me and act so cold, it really hurts. I didn’t even do anything wrong."
"Chloe Preston..."
As he spoke, the rims of his eyes reddened. He buried his chin in the crook of her neck, nuzzling her gently like a big, sad puppy.
"Sweetheart, are you really going to make me beg?" His voice grew hoarse.
He had always been so arrogant, ruthless, and brazenly defiant. This was the first time she had ever seen this side of him.
"Baby, Chloe, Sweetheart..." Donovan called her name again and again.
Chloe’s heart melted.
She pursed her lips, then reached out to touch his handsome face. "Alright, alright. I’m not ignoring you anymore, okay?"
"Not enough," Donovan murmured. "I want a kiss."
"Already pushing your luck?" Chloe shot back.
Donovan pressed his lips against her pale neck, trailing downward inch by inch. He licked and nibbled at a sensitive spot. "Yes!"
Chloe almost cried out.
