The Broken Halo-Chapter 217: The Three Hundred Feet Section
Simon glanced at the falling pieces of the arrow while hanging mid air with one hand.
His eyes were narrowed, then a second later, his ears twitched as he heard another sound of the wind being split apart.
He tilted his body slightly, and another arrow struck the wall, shattering into pieces.
If he had not been dodged, the arrow would have pierced his waist.
"Hmm."
Simon looked down, then he saw that some of his other classmates also had arrows fired at them.
A few were not able to react and were struck.
Some fell due to the shock of being struck.
Some did not let go despite an arrow sticking out of their body.
Some dodged the arrow, but as a result, their fingers or toes slipped, forcing them to let go and fall.
Some dodged the arrow, and like Simon, they did not fall.
The screams of those who fell echoed in the surroundings, and Simon glanced at them with an indifferent expression before continuing his climb.
His demonic energy enhanced claws pierced into the spaces and holes where his fingers were meant to be, and because of the rough edges of his demonic energy, he was even able to create more space for his claws to hold on to.
And just like Sunless guessed, his claws were not strong enough to pierce through the wall of the cliff.
The wall was very thick and strong, and even after enhancing his demonic energy, it would take a lot of effort, time, and energy to pierce through it.
Approximately twenty minutes later, Simon reached the end of the two hundred feet mark and he climbed his floating platform to rest.
He was not the first to reach the end of the two hundred feet mark because there were other Initiates whose race were more suited to climbing walls and mountains.
And there were some who had experience climbing mountains, walls, and cliffs.
However, Simon knew that he was definitely amongst the top ten, and even the cheetah-masked classmate of his was still struggling to climb the wall.
’I’ll rest for two minutes, then I’ll continue.’
The moment he had this thought, he felt a cold gaze land on him.
He frowned, then he turned to his right, and he was not surprised when he saw that it was Instructor Sormon that was giving him such a gaze.
’An instructor giving their student such a cold look. What a good instructor.’
Simon inwardly shook his head, then he indifferently turned and closed his eyes as he meditated and rested.
He knew why Instructor Sormon was giving him such a cold gaze, and the reason is because despite his attempts to push him down and make him fail, he succeeded and was amongst the best in the class.
Simon noticed that during his climb, the number of arrows that were fired at him were a lot more than the arrows fired at the others.
If not for his sensitivity toward the wind element, his rich experience, and his absurd reflexes, he would have been struck and maybe forced to fall from the cliff wall.
There was no proof that it was Instructor Sormon that caused the hidden Shadow Blades to fire more arrows at him, but Simon knew that the chances of it being the Instructor was very high.
However, despite the actions of the Instructor, Simon was indifferent toward him and would just keep on moving forward.
Two minutes later, Simon exhaled deeply as he felt slightly refreshed after circulating his demonic energy.
The burning he felt in his arms and several parts of his body were a lot better.
"Let’s see what the three hundred feet to four hundred feet looks like. I’ve been hearing the sound of wind above."
He finally decided to look up at the wall, and for the first ten feet, he was slightly surprised when he saw that there were no changes.
The wall was smooth like below, but when he looked beyond ten feet, his eyes widened slightly in disbelief.
"Are you kidding me?"
The first ten feet of the three hundred feet section was smooth like the two hundred feet section, but there was a huge difference between both sections.
The three hundred feet section has holes that were the size of the fists of three adult men, and these holes were countless and all over the cliff wall.
One might think that these holes were meant to be used as footholds or hand holds to climb the cliff wall, but such thoughts would only lead one to failure, injuries, and most likely death.
These ’large’ holes had winds blowing through them, and they were called wind tunnels.
Sometimes, the wind blown would be light.
And sometimes, it would be heavy and powerful.
It was completely random, and each wind tunnel could blow a powerful wind then a light wind in the next moment.
It was completely and utterly random.
The wall was also not as smooth as the two hundred feet section. There were narrow ledges and angled rock surfaces the Initiates could hold on to, but this only made it slightly easier.
’What sort of madness is this? Why is this academy so brutal and difficult?’
Simon could not help but compare everything he knew about the Shadowgrave Academy to the academy he created with his past friends on earth.
His academy could not be compared to the Shadowgrave Academy in terms of brutality and difficulty at all.
Meanwhile, Instructor Sormon’s cold eyes stared at Simon with a light of utter disdain and disgust.
’To pass this section, one has to press their bodies against the cliff wall to avoid being blown off, but I would never tell you that. It’s only if you’re smart enough would you realize the solution to this third section.’
’You might have been creative when using your claws to climb the second section, but it won’t help you here.’
’The third section is meant to test and train your body control, stability, and most importantly, how to be calm under pressure.’
’I can’t wait to see you be blown off. I’ll make sure to tell the Shadow Blades to take their time before saving you. It would be nice if you got crippled as a result, slave.’
