The Broken Halo-Chapter 144: Shut The Door
After refining a portion of Thorgan’s demonic energy, Simon chose to focus on his new skill before doing anything.
Shadow Sense
Shadow Sense was a passive skill and also an active skill at the same time.
If he focused and used more of his demonic energy, he would be able to sense a larger radius of shadows around him.
But in its passive state, Simon was able to sense the shadows that were in a ten meter radius around him.
The higher his proficiency, the further he’d be able to see.
"Hmm... Seems my proficiency is still too low to get what I want.’
Shadow Sense allowed him to know the locations of shadows in a certain radius without looking at the shadow.
Pairing this with a skill like Shadow Step or Shadow Teleportation meant that he’d be able to teleport to any shadow he could sense.
Unfortunately, he couldn’t Devour Shadow Teleportation, and even if he could, he would not use one of the remaining four slots for a skill like Shadow Teleportation.
He had a rare spatial affinity, and though it would only spread its wings when he became an Archfiend, having a spatial affinity meant he could teleport without needing to waste a slot of his Seven Stars Blessing.
’Maybe I’ll be able to combine my spatial affinity and shadow affinity so that I can teleport into shadows and even perform normal teleportations.’
’The clan definitely has knowledge on how to teleport using shadows, and once I become an Archfiend, it might actually be easy for me to teleport into shadows without wasting a slot of my blessing.’
Simon’s eyes shined brightly as he thought of this, then he looked at his shadow.
"Unlike other people’s shadow, I can sense if something is inside my shadow. I can’t see into my shadow like how Thorgan definitely could, but once my proficiency is high enough, I’d be able to do such a thing."
"I would be able to not only see what’s in my shadow but if another person’s shadow has something hiding in it... And who knows, I might be able to see and maybe hear through the ’eyes’ of a shadow."
"If I can achieve that, then... that would truly be terrifying. Shadow Sense can lead to me being Omnipresent. Anywhere there’s a shadow, I’d be able to know what’s happening."
Although this thought was very appealing to Simon, he knew that attaining such a level and evolving Shadow Sense into something like that would not be easy in the slightest.
He might even need to be a Demon King or a Demon Lord at the very least before he could accomplish such a thing.
But what he knew through his Blessing was that it was possible.
’Four more slots left... I need to make sure I get a healing skill and a defensive skill if possible.’
’My natural regenerative abilities is okay for now, and it’s an advantage demons have over humans at the lower realms, but I still need a healing skill.’
’However, the problem is getting a top tier healing skill. Healing skills are already very rare, especially top tier healing skills. I know how I struggled to improve my healing skill back then, and it was not even the best healing skill after advancing it beyond its limits.’
’... And demons who have a bloodline that’s solely focused on healing and regeneration are rare, extremely powerful, or extremely difficult to locate... I don’t even know if those demons exist anymore.’
’Sigh... At least, compared to getting a healing skill, getting a defensive skill is a lot easier. But I have to be... picky in what I choose. I don’t want to waste my time practicing and trying to evolve a low level defensive skill.’
’I have a few demons in mind that have excellent bloodlines whose sole focus is defense. When I have the opportunity, I’ll look for one to devour and get the skill.’
’... But it’ll be great if I could find a Dragon’s blood. Dragons are ancient and extinct demons. I only heard stories of their legends and myths, but I never encountered one.’
’Though, I can remember how a particular demon prince who was said to have awakened a portion of an ancient dragon’s blood in him and he got true dragon’s scales. I struggled to break through those scales. It was one of my toughest battles just because of his scales.’
’It’d be nice if I could get a defensive skill of the dragons.’
Simon let out a sigh, then he stood.
He had used Shadow Sense to the best he could to know if there was any clan member who was suspicious or was observing Pellin’s home, but he found nothing.
It was why he was so calm sitting and going through several thoughts in his mind.
"Time to clean this mess."
He went into Pellin’s house, found cleaning utensils just as he expected, and he used them to clean the blood stains on the ground.
For somebody like Pellin who loved torturing people, it was certain that he’d have tools and items that were used in cleaning blood and so many disgusting things.
After cleaning Pellin’s home with a calm expression and calm thoughts, he wore the Hell Daemon’s mask, transformed his face into a prison guard Pellin trusted- Turo.
He changed his blood stained clothes into a similar set of clothes. The clothes were the same, only difference was that his current clothes were clean.
After transforming into Turo, he stepped out of the house and bowed, acting like he was greeting Pellin in the house.
A few passing demons glanced at him, but none gave him another look because they knew about the weird tendencies of Pellin, and many wanted nothing to do with him.
Simon walked away from the house and walked back to the upper tier of the clan.
But at some point, he entered a hidden and dark location, swapped masks, then changed his clothes into his normal Initiates robes.
Some minutes later, he entered his room, ignoring the glances of his neighbours, then he shut the door.
