The Broken Halo-Chapter 108: Terrible Experience
Varreth had created a wall of branches, vines, roots, and even trees in front of him the moment Simon drew out his black wrapped sword.
But even all of that was nearly not enough to protect his life.
The sword light that was released from Simon’s sword nearly cut apart every single defense he placed in front of him.
And just as Varreth relaxed, Simon suddenly appeared in front of him with the black wrapped sword, and the next thing Varreth saw was his vision spinning in so many ways.
Thud
Thud
Thud
Thud
Varreth’s head with three faces came to a stop after rolling on the ground for a few seconds.
The disbelief, shock, and unwillingness in the eyes of his three faces could still be seen, and such emotions was something Simon was used to seeing.
The trees which Varreth had created began crumbling and turning to ash, and Simon jumped to the ground with Varreth’s body also falling to the ground.
As he fell, he stored the Chaos Sword in his spatial ring while calmly observing the surroundings.
All the transformed candidates fell to the ground, and some died, while some went unconscious.
Those that died were the candidates who either fully transformed or had reached a point of no return in their transformation.
As for those that went unconscious with their lives still intact, they were those who could still be saved.
’However, it would not be easy for them because they’d still be craving the Longevity Fruit. Though, it would be easier to resist, and with time, they would get over it completely.’
Simon calmly and softly landed on the ground, and he saw Thorgan approach him.
"Third brother. You did it." Thorgan said with relief, excitement, and awe as he stared at Simon with stars in his eyes.
He then looked at Varreth’s headless corpse, then he looked at the crumbling trees to their right.
"But... How did you cut off his head, third brother? I was so engrossed in my battle, so I couldn’t even look at your battle at all. What weapon did you use?"
Because the trees were crumbling and turning to ash, there was no sign of the cut Simon gave it.
And because he had slashed the air and not the ground, there was no sword cut on the ground.
The only cut Thorgan could see was Varreth’s severed neck.
And this was surprising to Thorgan because the last time Simon tried using a sword, the sword turned to ashes.
So, how did Simon cut off the neck of Varreth?
’It’s a clean cut, so he didn’t use his claws to slice off his head. Strange. Third brother is so strange.’
Simon did not give an answer to Thorgan’s question, though he was slightly relieved that Thorgan had not seen the Chaos Blade.
If he had has, he would have been forced to answer lots of questions.
And the most important would have been how he was able to use an artifact in the Blackwind Valley.
No
Not the Blackwind Valley, but in the trial of the Shadowgrave Clan.
The Shadowgrave Clan had forbidden the use of artifacts in the trials, but this was not just a rule.
No
They had enforced it.
Around the Blackwind Valley was an array of chaos runes that prevented the use of artifacts.
Many of the candidates had artifacts in their storage ring, but if they tried to use the artifacts, the artifacts would be unresponsive.
They would be like normal weapons, and even an artifact possessed an unnatural sharpness and durability, it would be reduced to that of a normal weapon.
This was all to ensure that no candidate had an unfair advantage over others in terms of weapons.
But Simon had used the Chaos Blade to unleash an energy sword cut with just a swing.
And this was even when the Chaos Blade was sheathed.
If Thorgan saw what Simon did with the Chaos Blade, he would be in so much shock to the point that even words might struggle to escape his lips.
Even Simon was stunned when he saw the power of the Chaos Blade in his sheathed form, and what was even more shocking was that he had used approximately forty percent (40%) of his demonic energy reserves to perform such an attack.
However, the Miser’s Ring reduced the usage of his demonic energy to 20%, and because of the ability of the Chaos Blade which reduces his demonic energy by half when he uses the Chaos Blade, he only used ten percent (10%) of his total demonic energy reserves.
The combination of the Miser’s Ring and the Chaos Blade was an absolute cheat code.
’I used forty percent of my total demonic energy reserves because I was worried about the defensive capabilities of Varreth in an environment with so many trees.’
’Even though I knew that the quantity of demonic energy I used would drastically reduce, it’s still shocking even to me.’
’Using only 10% of my demonic energy reserves to unleash an attack comparable to when I use 40% of my demonic.’
’Whenever I use my demonic energy with the Chaos Blade, my demonic energy consumption rate decreases by 75%.’
Simon said a silent thanks to Zaglur for giving him such a precious artifact.
He looked at the unconscious and dead candidates, then he looked at the unlucky candidates who were used as nutrients by Varreth.
Thorgan saw that Simon was refusing to answer his question about how he had cut off Varreth’s head, but he didn’t mind.
He decided to ignore it since it was not important to him. However, he was now more certain that Simon had even more secrets... just like him.
’He truly is my third brother. I’m so happy I met him. All my brothers and sisters are fun.’
"They’re all dead."
Simon’s words drifted into his ears, then he looked at Simon.
He saw where Simon was looking, and his expression became slightly solemn.
The unfortunate candidates who had been defiled in an horrifying manner were all dead.
But when Simon and Thorgan thought about it... Was it truly a bad thing they were dead?
At least, they would not have to live with this terrible experience.
