Chapter 330: Annika and Clairy with Alessandro Siblings

"This is driving me crazy. For real!" Emily muttered as she drank the coffee that no longer tasted sweet to her because of the anxiety that was taking control of her.

"I can kind of understand your brothers’ reactions but what’s suddenly up with you? Weren’t you all excited about meeting Annika and Clairy till early this morning? Why the sudden change of thoughts?" Shadow questioned as he watched her from his seat on the other side of the table.

The two of them were sitting in the front garden under the oak tree as they waited for Daniel to finally arrive with their special guests but the man seemed to be taking forever for that simple job.

Emily let out a deep sigh before she relaxed in her seat and started taking in some deep breaths to calm herself down. After a couple of seconds, she finally answered, "I think it’s their anxiety that took over me too for a while because you are right, I was so thrilled about finally meeting Annika and Clairy."

It seemed like Shadow did a nice job of pointing out the fact because it indeed helped her getting calm down and change the direction of her thoughts from negative to positive.

Another couple of long minutes passed by and with each passing moment, Emily returned a little bit to her usual calm and cheerful self. By the time they finally heard the sound of a car entering the driveway, she was once again filled with excitement to meet the guests.

"Do you think we should head downstairs and welcome them?" Emily asked as she stood up from her seat in pure excitement.

"Princess, relax." Shadow reminded as he signaled her to return to her seat which she reluctantly did. "Remember what we just discussed inside? We have to think about our guests’ comfort more than the proper ways of welcoming them. Let’s allow the two of them to get adjust to this place on their way here. You have to keep in mind that Annika is from a middle-class family and this place and the identity of you all can really be overwhelming for her."

Emily nodded her head in understanding as she did agree with everything that Shadow had just said. They not only needed to make their guests feel welcomed in the family by every member but they also needed to make sure that Annika won’t feel inferior or anything of that sort because of their actions or words.

It took around five more minutes before Shadow suddenly announced their arrival, pulling her out of her thoughts.

Emily once again stood up from her seat but this time she succeeded in maintaining her calm and placed a huge smile on her face as she slowly walked in the direction of the trio ascending the stairs with Shadow following right behind her.

"You are finally here." Her words were directed at Daniel as she spared him a quick glance before turning her attention to the little doll he was carrying in his arms.

Daniel smiled warmly as he bent down to allow Clairy out of his arms and the girl quickly moved to her mother’s side. "Sorellina." The man greeted his sister with a warm smile and nodded at Shadow before turning his attention to Annika.

"Annika, this is my..."

"Sister." Annika quickly spoke with a charming smile as she looked at Emily. "You must be Emily, right?"

Daniel let out a small chuckle before he moved aside to allow the two women to talk.

"It’s indeed me. It’s so nice to finally meet you... and Clairy." Emily was trying her very best to not look overjoyed but considering how her cheeks were almost hurting from smiling, she was definitely failing poorly in the job.

"I knew it. He keeps talking about you all the time and even though I don’t usually listen to the news, I still have caught some glimpses of you here and there. I must say, you are even more prettier in real life." Annika confessed and almost made Emily melt who finally couldn’t take it anymore and just moved forward to hug the woman.

Annika was definitely taken by complete surprise because of tge sudden and unexpected hug but it didn’t take her more than a couple of seconds before she returned the hug. "I’m seriously very happy to finally be able to meet you. I kept hearing about you and Clairy, and you have no idea how hard it was for me to not just drop by your bakery and meet you."

The older woman chuckled as they both finally pulled away from the hug and stepped away from each other, and Emily noticed the slight change in Annika’s sparkling eyes, they seemed more comfortable and relaxed.

"And this gentleman here, he’s Shadow, Emily’s very close friend and someone who’s a family to us all." Daniel introduced Shadow and while Emily didn’t know about the Vampire Lord, her brother’s chosen words did fill her heart with warmth.

Shadow shook Annika’s hand and gave another slight nod to Daniel before they all turned their attention to Clairy who had been silently watching the exchange between the adults.

"You guys already know that this is Annika, my girlfriend..." Daniel said while introducing Annika, his chosen words bringing smiles to almost everyone’s faces, and then he too turned his attention to the young girl, "... and this one here, she’s Clairy, my little girl and Annika’s daughter."

Emily waved at the little girl which the latter didn’t return, not only that but the girl even turned her face away to avoid looking at them which left Emily in shock.

"I’m sorry, Emily. Though she usually befriends people easily, I think she’s currently a little bit overwhelmed because of the new place. Just give her a while to settle down and then you will find her jumping all over your place." Annika stepped in when the moment became a little awkward.
