The Broken Angel & Her Overprotective Brothers-Chapter 310: Emily’s New Mentor
Emily stared wide-eyed at Shadow who was busy drinking his coffee after dropping the bomb in the dining hall of the Alessandro mansion.
"I have to go where and do what?" She asked as if she didn’t already hear him loud and clear when he just informed her and her brothers only a couple of moments ago.
"From what I can recall, you have to go to the Fae Kingdom and learn to control and use your powers." The one who provided teg answer wasn’t Shadow but Leo who seemed just as much in shock as she was and probably the rest of her brothers too.
The only person who looked calm and collected, as usual, was Domenic and of course... Shadow himself.
"Shadow, did you only return to once again take her away from us all over again?" Crist didn’t try to sound any sweeter as he accusingly questioned the Vampire Lord.
Shadow took another sip of his coffee before he placed the cup on the table and turned his attention to those who were sitting around him. "Don’t worry guys, she won’t be leaving as she did for the Academy. She will leave in the morning and return before the evening. You all will get to see her every day. Besides, she needs to learn how to properly use her powers." 𝓯𝓻𝒆𝙚𝒘𝓮𝙗𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝒍.𝙘𝓸𝙢
He then turned his attention to her as he spoke. "You always wanted to use your powers. I promise that once your training will end, I’ll never stop you from using your powers."
The deal sounded way more tempting than Emily wanted to admit, after all, she ahd been wanting to be able to use her powers ever since she graduated from the Academy and returned to City A. Not being able to use her powers was as suffocating as if she was cut off from her life source.
"Why can’t we ask her teacher/teachers to come and stay here at our mansion? We will pay them double if that’s what they want." Mark suggested as according to him, money was able to sort out everything ha and anything, not like he was actually wrong.
Everyone turned their attention to Shadow as they allow waited for his response and the disappointment was clear on everyone’s face when he finally shook his head at Mark’s suggestion.
"We can’t and we’re are several reasons for that. First, her major powers are elemental magic and Faes are the ones with the most powerful holds on the elemental magic which mean that the Fae Kingdom is filled with elemental magic which will be of great help in her training."
Everyone listened silently as Shadow counted down the reasons one by one.
"Second, the person who will be responsible for teaching her... was not someone simple." Shadow informed them but didn’t immediately disclose the identity of that person which only made all the siblings more curious.
"Then who is he?" Daniel asked as he and the others looked at Shadow while waiting for him to reveal the identity of Emily’s soon-to-be teacher/mentor.
Shadow looked at all of them, his gaze passing over each of them, and finally stopped at Domenic for a second before it landed on Emily as he replied, "He’s none other than the newly crowned Fae King himself."
Talk about dropping the real bomb.
Emily stared at Shadow with her mouth hanging open and she didn’t need to look at her brothers to know that they had similar expressions on their faces as her.
"Are you kidding me?" She asked even when she knew that he was not. But the fact that she was supposed to study under the mentorship of none other than the Fae King himself, scared her way more than it excited her.
Shadow gave her the look that clearly shouted ’Of course not’.
There was a collective sound of long sighs as everyone let out the breaths that they ahd been holding.
"Good luck, sis," Leo muttered as he gave her a sympathetic look. The looks that she received from some of her other brothers were no different from that of Leo.
She too let out a sigh before she turned her attention back to Shadow. "How did you even manage to make him agree to become my mentor?" She asked curiously.
"He’s my old friend," Shadow replied simply with a little shrug as he picked up his cup of coffee and once again started sipping it.
The silence that followed was nothing matched to the expression of pure surprise looks on everyone’s faces and some were even impressed. Over the long time that Shadow had spent with them as a regular person in their lives, most of them had already forgotten that his identity was even more intense and powerful than the Fae King.
But since he was now family and everyone was used to him being around them all the time with a poker face, his identity as the most powerful immortal of the supernatural world no longer impressed anyone in the Alessandro family. Instead, they were more impressed by the Fae King.
"When am I going to start my classes?" Emily asked as she finally gave in to the temptation. She would be a fool to not use this once in a several-lifetime chance to learn from the Fae King himself and get the chance to finally use her powers that she had spent years learning and growing. Now, it was time for her to shape and give forms to her powers.
"How about today?" Shadow suggested and almost made Emily choke on the orange juice that she was drinking.
Daniel was immediately there to rub her back as he tried to calm her down while he turned his attention to Shadow and complained, "Can you not be so sharp?"
Shadow moved to take Daniel’s place beside Emily’s chair as he patted her back and she felt his powers allowing her to calm down and stop coughing. "Thanks." She whispered as she pushed away the juice glass and found that she no longer had any appetite left even though she hadn’t eaten anything yet.
"Fine. I’ll give you one day to process everything and prepare but we will leave tomorrow morning right after breakfast." Shadow informed her before he tapped on the table beside her plate of sandwiches as he silently signaled her to finish the breakfast.
Emily nodded her head as she agreed with his idea and watched as the man left the dining room and headed toward the living room. It took only a night before he was back with his strict and unmoving persona. His soft and friendly side was lost once again.
No one talked much about the topic after Shadow left and mostly paid attention to their breakfast. Emily also had to finish her breakfast as Domenic and Daniel’s attention was on her.
Within an hour, all seven of the siblings were ready to depart for their respective offices to start with their busy work day.
As for Emily, since she was once again returning to student life, she had even more things to take care of at her company. Shadow followed her to her car and immediately took the driver’s seat once he was done helping her with the passenger side door.
The first thing Emily did was to call her secretary and ask her to inform the directors about an emergency meeting. After that, she called her Personal Assistant to prepare all the files and data needed for the meeting.
She also had another meeting scheduled at noon where she was going to sign a contract with a new partner of the company. So she also discussed some details about that with her assistant.
Once she ended the call, a sigh escaped her lips as she closed her eyes and settled in her seat. "Today is going to be a long day." She whispered mostly to herself but felt Shadow’s hand coming to rest over hers as he gave her fingers a light squeeze.
"Am I rushing you too much?" He sounded genuinely worried as his soft side returned for the time being as he spared a quick look in her direction.
Emily smiled softly as she returned his squeeze and smiled softly while shaking her head. "It’s alright. If not for the pressure, I’m not sure if I’ll ever be able to wrap up everything smoothly even if you will give me an entire week. Let’s see how the day goes first. If everything went as planned, then I’ll start my classes from tomorrow but if not, I’ll ask for another day and will involve the superior management that I have as my hidden winning card."
She didn’t need to specify what exactly her superior management was and exactly who were tge members of this management, the smile on Shadow’s face told her that he already got the meaning behind her words.
The man nodded his head in approval of her plan. "Alright. Let’s go with your idea. I’ll be there for you."
