Chapter 205: Chapter 117: You Didn’t Come Home for Dinner Tonight, Are You Upset?_2
"I just had a simple meal with another man, nothing more happened," Song Qiao rebutted him with his own words, and continued, "Moreover, it was not just Ji Sifan and I, there was also a colleague of mine and two newcomers I brought along. And you, Lu Jingchen, it was just the two of you... with Zuo Yuqing."
Noticing the dissatisfaction in Song Qiao’s tone, Lu Jingchen remained composed and slightly hooked the corner of his mouth, raising his eyebrows slightly, "Jealous?"
Song Qiao countered, "I don’t have the luxury to be leisurely. If every day I’m not living angrily because of you, I’m feeling jealous, then this marriage is really too exhausting. We might as well get a divorce..."
Hearing Song Qiao’s latter words, Lu Jingchen’s eyes darkened, filled with broken emotions, his handsome face grim as he frowned and said, "Qiaoqiao, don’t let me hear the words ’divorce’ again."
A cool smile played across Song Qiao’s eyes as she touched her cheek, her expression serene and her voice still gentle, "If you say not to mention it, then I won’t. Didn’t you say to get up for a meal? How can I eat like this?"
The man’s dark eyes swirled with emotion as he stared at her face. "Qiaoqiao," he called her name, knelt on one knee amidst the bedsheets, his shirt slightly wrinkled, but he didn’t mind and gently kissed her forehead. His voice was steady as a calm lake but carried a hint of a sigh, "Don’t mention divorce so casually in the future. You are married to me now, I’ll treat you well from now on, okay?"
Will he treat her well?
Song Qiao was not sure if their marriage would truly last forever or if it was just a transient passion that would dissipate after a while.
Actually, from the beginning of their marriage until now, she had always been uncertain.
If it were the beginning, she might have harbored some fantasies, but after Zuo Yuqing appeared, after encountering him with Zuo Yuqing time and again, those fantasies had slowly settled down.
The smile on Song Qiao’s face remained as she slightly lowered her eyes, her gaze falling on the floral-patterned quilt that was neither distinctly feminine nor distinctly masculine. With a calm voice, she finally looked up at the man before her and said, "I understand, go take a shower, you smell like alcohol."
Now... she didn’t need to trouble herself with unnecessary worries.
The man looked at her for a while, trying to discern any hint of difference on her face, only to find the same shallow smile.
After a moment, he responded with an okay, stood up, and said, "I’ll go shower first, okay? Remember to finish the porridge. You didn’t eat much for dinner, and just drinking soup can make you hungry." fгeewёbnoѵel_cσm
Lu Jingchen’s voice carried a bit of tenderness, and as Song Qiao heard it, her heart stirred wildly, taking a while to settle down, "I know, go take a shower. I’ll finish it."
Not until Lu Jingchen entered the bathroom and the sound of rushing water filled the space did Song Qiao glance toward the bathroom, then pursed her lips somewhat reluctantly, uncovered the quilt from the bed, took the porridge to the sofa in the room, and placed it on the coffee table, sitting down to drink slowly.
Fifteen minutes later, Song Qiao was still slowly sipping the porridge, because it was too hot, she couldn’t drink it quickly even if she wanted to.
The sound of running water in the bathroom stopped, and less than a minute later, the bathroom door opened, and a man wrapped in just a towel with wet hair came out.
While drinking porridge, Song Qiao spared him a glance and spoke unhurriedly, "The hairdryer is in the bathroom, why didn’t you blow dry your hair."
Lu Jingchen walked over and sat on the sofa next to Song Qiao, grabbed a towel that was placed there, and said matter-of-factly, "Wait for you to help me dry it."
Song Qiao, "...You dry it yourself. I want to sleep after finishing the porridge."
These past few days she hadn’t rested well, and she was eager to just lie down and sleep for a whole day.
Did this man really think a woman’s physical and mental energy were the same as theirs?
Lowering her head, she continued to drink the porridge obediently, appearing very docile, because Lu Jingchen knew Song Qiao liked to eat small dishes, he had also asked Aunt Chen to prepare a plate.
Lu Jingchen looked at the woman’s face and realized her eyes had unknowingly developed dark circles. He thought about how he had really exhausted her these past few days without letting her rest properly.
Three minutes later, the sound of a hairdryer came from the bathroom. Song Qiao put down the bowl which was now empty, glanced at the bathroom, then began cleaning up the table and took the dishes out of the bedroom intending to bring them to the kitchen.
Just as she opened the bedroom door, she was startled, nearly dropping the items in her hands.
Jian Xia’s hand was still poised to knock when the door suddenly opened, startling her as well. After recognising who was standing at the door, she couldn’t help being slightly amazed.
Two women, one standing inside the door and the other outside, one wearing a bathrobe and the other a nightgown, it looked somewhat eerie however you looked at it."
Song Qiao faced the unexpected woman in front of her, at a loss for words for a moment, unconsciously glancing towards the bathroom before she finally heard her own voice trembling slightly, "Are you the woman Lu Jingchen brought back tonight?"
The woman in front clearly wasn’t a servant, and from both her appearance and demeanor, seemed to be someone with status or background.
Jian Xia lowered her hand, quickly putting on a smile and nodded, "My name is Jian Xia, hello."
Wearing a bathrobe and looking freshly bathed, this woman couldn’t possibly appear here without Lu Jingchen’s agreement.
