Chapter 740: Chapter 781: Let’s Pretend to Get Divorced

In the morning, the sunlight was perfect, casting rays through the glass onto the two of them.

Sienna Johnson cupped her head with one hand. She didn’t understand how she’d only come to find her passport but ended up being thoroughly taken by Adrian Desmond.

Adrian was still asleep, his eyes closed, a contented smile on his lips. The dappled light fell on his face, softening his rugged features.

"Staring at me like that, are you captivated?"

He suddenly spoke, startling Sienna, who was carefully observing him.

"Were you pretending to be asleep?"

He slowly opened his eyes and saw the woman who had brought him such satisfaction. He embraced her, kissing her deeply, his empty heart finally finding solace.

"Answer me. Were you staring at me just now because you think I’m handsome and you’re mesmerized?" he persisted.

"Your eyes were closed. How would you know I was looking at you? I wasn’t looking at you!"

"I know what you’re doing, even with my eyes closed!"

The gloom and rage that had marked his face for the past few days were gone; he now looked radiant and cheerful. "Did I satisfy you last night?"

Sienna turned over, giving him her back. Adrian toyed with her thick, soft hair, unable to resist caressing it.

"...It’s impossible for us to break up, and a temporary separation is out of the question. So, forget about your little tricks and schemes.

"Don’t think that just because you managed to escape from under my nose back then, you can do it again.

"If I let you slip away from me one more time, I, Adrian Desmond, will take your surname."

Sienna said coldly, "Don’t even think about taking my surname. I don’t have a son as old as you!"

"Trying to get one over on me, huh?"

Sienna adopted a stance of non-violent non-cooperation, ignoring whatever he said. If Adrian’s arm weren’t wrapped around her waist, she probably would have "pulled up her pants and pretended she didn’t know him" by now.

"It’s useless arguing with me about this. He’s my uncle; I can’t possibly sever ties with him. I’ll concede on other matters."

"..."

"If I cut off my uncle just because you’re unhappy, what kind of person would that make me? You need to try and see it from my perspective too."

He softened his tone, waiting for her to yield.

Sienna, her back still to him, said coldly, "I made myself very clear that day. Your business with your uncle—one willing to inflict, the other willing to endure—is your own. I won’t interfere anymore."

Although her words still carried a trace of anger, this was the outcome he had hoped for.

"...Sienna, what do you want? I’ll give you anything!" His voice held a tone of wanting to compensate.

"I want to take our child back to Sileria City!"

"No!"

"Adrian, when we came here, we agreed it was just for a vacation. I wasn’t going to stay long-term. We’ve been here so long now. Are you planning on putting me under house arrest again?"

"Sileria City isn’t safe!" He stroked her hair. "Night Owl is watching you covetously. Don’t think you’ll be safe if you go back to Sileria City. It’s even more dangerous there than here."

"Then let’s get a sham divorce! Night Owl only wants to target me because of you! If he finds out we’re no longer connected, he’ll leave me alone."

Adrian’s heart lurched. He forcibly turned her face towards him, scrutinizing every subtle expression, trying to discern what she was truly planning.

What is this woman really up to?

"You want to leave me that badly?"

"I’m about to give birth! I don’t want any accidents!"

"If you just stay by my side obediently, you won’t nearly die like when you had Curly!"

They couldn’t reach an understanding, so Sienna stopped talking. She closed her eyes wearily, clearly refusing any further communication.

Adrian’s demands weren’t high; as long as she stayed obediently by his side, he would indulge her in everything else.

"Get some sleep. I’ll take a shower and then make you breakfast."

Adrian felt sticky all over, especially down there, but he couldn’t bear to let go of her. So, after they had finished the night before, he had simply held her and fallen asleep.

"Don’t fight with me anymore, alright? Be good."

A kiss landed on her temple as Adrian got up to shower.

Adrian took a quick shower and emerged, still damp.

These past few days, he had been living a less-than-human existence. Today, he finally felt alive again.

"What do you want for breakfast?"

As Adrian dried his wet hair, he glanced at the bed. His eyes froze. The woman was gone.

His soaring spirits crashed, and his good mood vanished.

And so, early that morning, the Sixth Master began to throw a tantrum again, plunging the household into chaos.

Sienna left Adrian’s room and returned to Kiki’s.

Kiki was already up, her bedding neatly folded. Seeing Sienna, she didn’t ask many questions, only said, "I’ve run you a bath and put clean clothes in the bathroom. Go take a soak."

Kiki’s words told Sienna that she knew everything.

Without a word, Sienna went to the bathroom to bathe.

Adrian had tried to restrain himself the previous night, but she was still exhausted. Soaking her entire body in the warm water, she almost drifted off to sleep from the sheer comfort.

Relaxing lavender essential oil had been added, its fragrance mingling with the steam, and Sienna felt every pore in her body open and unwind.

"Sienna, don’t soak for too long; it’s not good for the baby."

Nearly asleep, Sienna forced herself out of the comforting water. "Mm, I know."

Sienna hadn’t had enough sleep and planned to get some more, so she merely slipped on a bathrobe before coming out.

The white bathrobe contrasted with her cherry-pink skin, making her look like a fresh, juicy peach. Adrian’s eyes practically popped out of his head.

Sienna was genuinely scared of him now. Seeing Adrian made her feel like a mouse encountering a cat. "Why are you here?"

"I should be asking you that. Why are you always running off to Kiki’s room instead of staying in ours?"

"Kiki’s getting married, and she has a lot to do. I came to keep her company and see if I could help with anything."

Excuses! Adrian thought.

"You must have been exhausted last night. I made you breakfast. Get dressed, and I’ll take you to eat."

Adrian didn’t call out her flimsy excuse. Her willingness to speak to him calmly was better than the icy demeanor she’d maintained for the past few days.

"I’m not hungry!"

"How can you not be hungry after all that... exertion last night?"

Adrian looked like he was going out today. He wore a formal suit, his chin was cleanly shaven, and he appeared refreshed and invigorated—a stark contrast to the disheveled man of the previous days. Sienna, on the other hand, looked as if her vitality had been drained by a male fox spirit; dark circles shadowed her eyes.
