The Bigshot Married Himself to the Heiress-Chapter 490 - 491: Psychiatric Evaluation in Court
Iris Lewis continued passionately, "...But I am a Party member. I obey the organization’s assignments, and in the end, I went to work at a psychiatric hospital in Sileria City. I have been a psychiatric nurse for twenty years... Although it was difficult to find a partner back then because I was a psychiatric nurse, I don’t regret my choice."
The audience was silent.
"I made my choice, and I am proud!" Iris Lewis puffed out her chest and declared proudly.
Sienna Johnson raised her eyebrows, looking at the woman on the stage. Though her features were plain and her figure was severely out of shape, Xenon Lewis’s wife is certainly an interesting character.
Sienna Johnson said to Adrian Desmond, "Quite an interesting woman, wouldn’t you say? Why would he need a mistress?"
Adrian Desmond frowned, looking at the heavyset woman on the stage. If my wife looked like that, I’d probably want an affair too, he thought. She looks... more masculine than I do!
"But let me tell you all, psychiatric patients are human too. They are just sick, much like some people catch a cold, some run a fever, and some develop tumors...
"They are simply ill.
"Psychiatric patients generally don’t harm others. They often feel that many people are strangers, aside from their own family. So, to the families of psychiatric patients, I want to say: please be more patient and caring towards them. They need you.
"Your patience and love are more effective than any specialized medication!
"Psychiatric patients are very sensitive and fragile. They only exhibit aggressive behavior when they feel threatened.
"When they have an episode, they may talk nonsense, their actions might be beyond their control, and they might see strange things. Once they recover, they often don’t remember any of it..."
The courtroom remained silent.
"The way Sabrina Johnson behaved was not at all like someone having a psychiatric episode!"
Another moment of silence.
"If she were a psychiatric patient, it would be an insult to actual psychiatric patients!
"If she’s a psychiatric patient, I’ll take off my head and let her kick it around like a ball!"
After saying that, Iris Lewis walked up to her husband, snatched the diamond necklace from his hand, and stuffed it into the Prosecutor’s hand. "Here! We don’t want this worthless necklace!"
"Honey, that’s a real diamond necklace, not glass!" Xenon Lewis exclaimed, his voice tinged with heartache.
"One last question," the Prosecutor asked. "Do you still remember the person who gave you 75 thousand and asked you to produce a fake psychiatric assessment report?"
"I remember. In fact, I just saw him...
"There, that’s him! The man sitting in the first row of the audience, wearing a plaid shirt, with a mole on his chin..." Iris Lewis said.
Xenon Lewis then pointed to the man with a mole on his chin sitting in the first row. The man was restrained by Brett Jacobs and couldn’t escape.
Following Xenon Lewis’s finger, the media swarmed, cameras flashing, instantly making the man "famous."
With their part in the proceedings over, Xenon Lewis and his wife walked off the stage hand in hand.
"Honey, don’t you feel bad about just handing over the diamond necklace like that?"
"Look at how pathetic you are!"
Iris Lewis slapped Xenon Lewis on the back with such force that Adrian Desmond winced sympathetically. That slap must have caused some internal injuries, he thought. 𝐟𝕣𝗲𝕖𝕨𝗲𝐛𝗻𝗼𝐯𝗲𝚕.𝗰𝚘𝐦
He’d always thought Sienna Johnson wasn’t particularly gentle, but compared to that termagant, his Sienna was an absolute sweetheart!
The sight made Adrian Desmond’s eyes ache, so he quickly shifted his gaze to his wife’s beautiful face. No wonder they say marrying a beautiful wife leads to a long life. Looking at a beautiful woman puts you in a good mood; a good mood leads to good health, and good health, naturally, leads to a long life.
"I think he genuinely likes diamond necklaces. I should send him a few more," Adrian Desmond said, feeling sorry for Xenon Lewis and sympathizing with his plight.
"You’d better ask your daughter if she agrees first," Sienna Johnson retorted.
In Sileria City, all the shiny ’George’ Adrian Desmond possessed had been commandeered by Curly.
"He’s finally getting what he deserves!" Herbert Young remarked, looking at Phillip Faber’s face with immense satisfaction.
Truth be told, he and Phillip Faber had some history. When Herbert Young graduated, he had wanted to join Phillip Faber’s law firm, but Phillip Faber hadn’t taken a liking to him and had rejected his application. A simple rejection would have been one thing, but Phillip Faber had been particularly nasty, saying many hurtful things. Compounding this, Herbert Young was the type to hold grudges. That’s how their feud began. However, a man of Phillip Faber’s stature, often forgetful of minor details, had likely long forgotten a minor figure like Herbert Young. But Herbert Young remembered Phillip Faber; he had remembered for many years.
"Phillip Faber is finished today!" Herbert Young gloated.
"Our opponent is too strong; we have no chance of winning!" Sue White observed, watching the completely one-sided trial. For once, she and Herbert Young were in agreement.
Unless Sabrina Johnson has some trick up her sleeve, she’s done for today!
Throughout the entire court hearing, Phillip Faber had barely managed to get a word in.
"Your Honor," the Prosecutor addressed the judge, "just moments ago, the defense counsel insisted that Sabrina Johnson suffers from a mental illness. Therefore, I request your permission to call Dr. Alexandria to the stand to conduct an on-site psychiatric assessment of Sabrina Johnson, here before the media and everyone present!"
Sabrina Johnson was utterly stunned.
She was terrified; her hands trembled, the handcuffs jingling and betraying her inner turmoil.
The Prosecutor continued, "First, allow me to introduce Dr. Alexandria’s credentials.
"Dr. Alexandria is a world-renowned psychiatrist and the President of the World Psychiatric Association. He currently serves as the director of Graveham State Psychiatric Hospital in Terreliers State, Westoria—the largest psychiatric hospital in the nation.
"He has published hundreds of research papers internationally on the subject of mental illness. Furthermore, Dr. Alexandria’s work focuses not only on the development of specialized medications for psychiatric conditions but also extensively on psychotherapy..."
Sienna Johnson looked in surprise at the foreign man with white hair on the stage.
He wore a dark suit, his silver hair was combed impeccably, and he wore glasses. He had a square face and a solid, dignified build.
"You invited him?" Sienna Johnson asked.
"Yes," Adrian Desmond replied. "He happened to be giving a lecture in Province A, so I had someone bring him over."
"Province A is an hour away from here. How did you know you’d need to invite him? Did you anticipate that Sabrina Johnson would feign mental illness today?"
Adrian Desmond chuckled. "I’m not Mohammed; I can’t predict the future. As for getting him here, well, I had a plane pick him up, of course!"
Laypeople might not have recognized Dr. Alexandria, but for someone like Xenon Lewis, who was in the psychiatric field, this renowned figure was an idol, someone he knew everything about.
Xenon Lewis couldn’t believe his idol was actually there. He said excitedly to his wife, "Honey, that’s Dr. Alexandria! Am I dreaming? Pinch me!"
Iris Lewis, without hesitation, gave her husband a hard pinch, eliciting a scream from him that sounded like a pig being slaughtered.
"Mr. Alexandria, will you require any instruments for the assessment?" the Prosecutor asked.
"No!" Dr. Alexandria replied.
He spoke fluent Mandarin, much to Sienna Johnson’s astonishment.
