Chapter 486: Chapter 487: Capturing a Psychiatrist

Adrian Desmond pushed the door open and immediately noticed the woman with a deeply furrowed brow among the few people present. These past few days, she hasn’t relaxed at all because of Sabrina Johnson’s case. She’s so strong-willed, but in the end, he’s the one who worries about her.

Adrian walked over to Sienna Johnson, who looked up at him and asked, "Where have you been? Why did it take you so long?"

"I went to find someone." As he spoke, Adrian snapped his fingers. The door opened, and the tall Brett Jacobs walked in, dragging a man.

Brett pushed him, and the man staggered, nearly falling to the ground.

"Who are you people, and what do you want with me?" These people abducted me without a word.

The man was bald, with a chubby face, and wore large glasses. Sienna Johnson felt he looked familiar, as if she had seen him somewhere before.

Sienna suddenly remembered—this was the man she had just searched for on her phone: Xenon Lewis!

Xenon Lewis, a psychiatrist, was the doctor who had performed the mental assessment for Sabrina Johnson.

"Are you Xenon Lewis?"

Xenon Lewis saw everyone in the room looking at him, and a realization struck him: his actions must have been exposed.

"Yes, I am. What can I do for you? Is one of you suffering from a mental illness and in need of my help?"

Xenon put on a pretentious act. "You are all so impolite. Even if you wanted me to treat you, you shouldn’t have resorted to such extreme measures. Do you have no regard for the law? Don’t you know that kidnapping me like this is illegal!"

"You’re the one with the mental illness!" Brett grabbed his hand and, with a swift move, twisted Xenon’s arm out of its socket.

Xenon looked at his own limp arm, which dangled as if boneless. He was stunned. Just as he processed what happened and was about to scream, Brett pressed the muzzle of his handgun to his neck and said,

"Go ahead and scream. Let’s see if your voice is faster or my gun!" Brett threatened.

Beads of sweat broke out on Xenon’s forehead. He said fearfully, "Friend, let’s talk this over calmly. Please, don’t shoot! Don’t shoot!"

Adrian sat down next to Sienna. Dressed in all black, his dark eyes were as sharp as a blade. His cold voice broke the silence,

"Did you write the mental assessment report for Sabrina Johnson?"

"Yes..." A bead of sweat slid down Xenon’s forehead and dripped onto the ground.

Adrian stared at him like a fierce wolf. Xenon cowered, shrinking his neck, daring not to move. Adrian exuded a dangerous aura. It felt as if the slightest movement would make him pounce like a savage wolf, tear out his carotid artery, and leave him to bleed to death.

"Are you a psychiatrist?"

"Yes."

"Does Sabrina Johnson really have a mental illness?"

Xenon fell silent.

Adrian checked his Calibre Multizone Watch. Sabrina Johnson’s court hearing was due to start in just 15 minutes. His time was short.

"Speak!" Adrian uttered the single word in a low voice. If Brett’s gun hadn’t been pressed to his neck, Xenon would have collapsed to his knees before Adrian.

Brett’s Colt Revolver was ready; the click as he prepared it was piercingly clear in the quiet room. So close to Xenon’s ear, the sound was amplified countless times—the summons of death itself.

Whether it was the man holding a gun to him from behind or the suffocating presence of the man seated before him, Xenon had no doubt about how dangerous these people were.

If he didn’t give them the answers they wanted, Xenon suspected he wouldn’t live to see tomorrow. Even being in a supposedly sacred place like the Court gave him no sense of security.

"I don’t have much time. If you don’t want to talk..." Adrian purposely left his sentence unfinished, letting Xenon’s imagination run wild.

Imagination was far more terrifying than reality. Xenon’s mental defenses collapsed. To save his own life, he confessed everything.

"I’ll talk! I’ll talk!" He was, after all, just an ordinary man, greedy and with a host of minor flaws; how could he withstand such high-pressure interrogation?

"...Although I issued the mental assessment report for Sabrina Johnson, I don’t actually know if she truly has a mental illness because I never conducted any such tests on her."

The answer was as expected. Sienna still asked Xenon for confirmation, "Who told you to issue the mental assessment report for Sabrina Johnson?"

"I don’t know."

"You don’t know?" Adrian asked dangerously.

Xenon was terrified of Adrian; before him, he was like a mouse facing a cat. He lowered his head, cold sweat continuously beading on his brow.

"I really don’t know... I have a mistress, and she had her eye on a diamond necklace, constantly pestering me to buy it. My wife controls my money very tightly. So, when a man approached me and offered 75 thousand if I would issue a mental assessment report for him, I was tempted..."

"..."

"What did the man look like?"

"I forgot!"

Adrian said, "Think harder!" Adrian saw the evasion in his eyes. He knew Xenon remembered what the man looked like.

Brett pressed the gun to the back of Xenon’s head and threatened, "Hurry up and remember! If you can’t, I’ll put a hole in your brain!"

"Long face, thick eyebrows, big eyes... Oh, right, he had a mole on his chin." Xenon didn’t dare to hide anything anymore.

Anyone who had attended that day’s trial would know who that man was. Wasn’t he the one in a police uniform who had interrupted the proceedings and submitted Sabrina Johnson’s mental assessment report to the judge?

Adrian and Sienna exchanged glances without saying a word.

Sienna asked, "Later, are you willing to testify in the courtroom and state that someone forced you to write this mental assessment report?"

"This..." Xenon stood there with a troubled expression.

Doctors feared professional scandals above all else. Once a scandal broke, his reputation in the medical field would be ruined.

Today’s case was huge. Although he had entered through a back door, he had seen several news vans and many reporters outside the Court when he arrived. If he were to testify as a witness in the courtroom today...

Sienna narrowed her eyes at Xenon and said only one sentence, "Does your wife know about your mistress?"

As soon as she mentioned his wife, Xenon immediately gave in. "Miss, I will testify! I will testify! Please, this must never reach my wife. My wife is a fierce shrew! If she finds out, I’m dead..."

Sienna frowned. She couldn’t understand this man. He was clearly terrified of his wife, yet he still dared to keep a mistress behind her back. Was he just bold, or was his audacity fueled by lust?
