The Bigshot Married Himself to the Heiress-Chapter 483 - 484: Discussing Strategies
Just as I thought! Sienna Johnson was surprisingly furious. "Damn it! I knew that woman wouldn’t give up so easily!"
Herbert Young seized the opportunity to seek some benefits for himself. "President Johnson, I’ve helped you immensely. You have to put in a good word for me with Princess."
Sienna Johnson narrowed her eyes, finding the man before her increasingly peculiar. "I’ve noticed that whenever Princess is around, you’re sure to be nearby... What are you up to?"
Herbert Young made no secret of his intentions, saying with a smile, "I’m pursuing Princess. But she’s very difficult to woo, and she doesn’t give me any opportunities at all." 𝒻𝘳𝘦𝘦𝘸ℯ𝒷𝘯𝘰𝑣ℯ𝑙.𝘤𝑜𝘮
Sienna Johnson was momentarily speechless.
"President Johnson, I don’t drink, gamble, or frequent prostitutes. I work hard to earn money, all of which I’d hand over to my wife. I’m still a virgin, I can cook, do laundry, and I’m gentle and considerate... A model man for the new century. Please, put in a good word for me with Princess, heh heh..."
Sienna Johnson said dismissively, "Oh, so you’re another one of Princess’s suitors? Well, let me tell you, don’t waste your breath."
"Why not?"
"Princess will never marry again!"
"Why won’t she marry? Did she tell you that?" Herbert Young asked seriously.
"Have you ever heard the saying, ’Once bitten, twice shy’? A woman with severe emotional trauma is already wary of men. How can you expect her to move on from the past and accept a new relationship?"
Herbert Young wasn’t deterred by Sienna Johnson’s words. It seems my path to winning her over will be long and arduous.
"You’ll never win her over!" Sienna Johnson retorted.
"President Johnson, you seem to hold a strong bias against me. I’m not sure how I might have offended you to deserve such treatment."
Herbert Young knew about Sienna Johnson’s relationship with Sue White. Sue White trusted Sienna deeply, so getting Sienna on his side would be a shortcut to reaching Sue White.
"Anyone who helps my enemy is my enemy!"
"I must explain. When I defended Sabrina Johnson, I genuinely didn’t know about the history between you two. I’m a lawyer; it’s how I make my living. I hope President Johnson can understand," Herbert Young said.
"Lawyer Young, you said it yourself. You’re just doing your job. I have no reason not to understand."
Just as they were speaking, Sue White returned. She was dressed in a dark business suit, evidently just back from the courtroom. She changed into slippers and walked in, not even sparing Herbert Young a glance.
"You’re here," Sue White greeted Sienna Johnson.
"Mhm."
"Mom, you’re back! Look, Auntie Sienna gave me this toy airplane!" Robin proudly showed off his new toy, his face beaming with a happiness that made Sue White’s heart ache. She earned a decent amount each month, but she was burdened by a massive debt. Her salary was almost entirely consumed by repayments as soon as it arrived, leaving nothing for non-essentials like toys for her son.
"Did you thank Auntie Sienna?" Sue White asked, gently stroking her son’s head.
Robin nodded vigorously. "Yes, I did! Thank you, Auntie Sienna!"
Sue White and Sienna Johnson were close, so Sue didn’t mind her friend giving her son gifts. She teased Sienna Johnson, "You’re so stingy, just one toy airplane? You should have given him a toy car, a toy train, and a toy speedboat too..."
Sienna Johnson replied, "How about I give my daughter, Curly, to your son in marriage?"
"We could never afford to raise your little princess."
Sienna Johnson was about to say she would provide a generous dowry for her daughter when Robin shyly interjected, "We can afford it! We can! When I grow up, I’ll work hard to earn money and take care of Curly!"
Sue White was speechless. "Are you two planning to get engaged behind our backs?"
Robin’s face turned as red as a boiled shrimp; you could almost see steam rising if cold water were splashed on him. "I... I’m going to do the laundry!" Robin clutched his toy airplane and darted into the bathroom.
"Ha ha, my little son-in-law is shy," Sienna Johnson laughed.
"He’s my son, not your son-in-law!" Sue White retorted.
"But your son is willing! Surely you’re not planning to be like those wicked mothers-in-law in Leanne Andrews’s soap operas and tear a loving couple apart, are you?" Sienna Johnson teased.
Adrian Desmond, who had been listening, couldn’t bear it any longer. His daughter was still so young; he wasn’t ready to see her promised to another family. "The children are still young. Who knows what will happen when they grow up? Don’t talk such nonsense."
Sienna Johnson shot him a glare. "Children in kindergarten have boyfriends and girlfriends these days! Your daughter has been receiving love letters every day. I bet you didn’t know that, did you?"
"They’re just kids playing around. They don’t understand what love is," Adrian Desmond said dismissively.
"Alright, alright, can we please discuss serious matters?" Sue White said, sounding weary.
"You don’t look well. Have you been very busy lately?" Sienna Johnson asked.
"I’ve had a lot of cases recently."
Sabrina Johnson’s case was a criminal matter, with the procuratorate acting as the public prosecutor. Otherwise, Sienna Johnson would have very much liked Sue White to represent her in suing Sabrina.
Herbert Young chimed in with concern, "Your health is important. You’re taking on too many cases. If your health collapses from overwork, it won’t be worth it... You never listen to what I say. Just you wait, there’ll come a day when you’ll regret it and cry..."
"Lawyer Young, are you very idle these days?" Sue White cut him off. "You keep showing up at my house every other day. What exactly are you trying to do?"
"I’m pursuing you!"
Sue White’s expression was serious, her tone unamused. "Lawyer Young, I believe I made myself perfectly clear last time. Please don’t waste your time on me."
"I’ve already wasted fifteen years on you. Life is short; one doesn’t get many fifteen-year periods. I’m like an investor whose stock has plummeted – my only choice is to keep investing, hoping for the day it rebounds and appreciates."
Sue White retorted, "Then you can just wait until you’ve lost everything."
"I’m willing to!"
Sue White ignored the madman and sat down opposite Sienna Johnson, ready to discuss serious matters. "Are you here because of Sabrina Johnson?"
Sienna Johnson’s expression also turned grave. "Yes. After Sabrina Johnson caused that scene in the courtroom today, forcing the trial to be adjourned, I’ve had a bad feeling. It’s like she’s planning to stir up more trouble. You handle so many cases; can you help me analyze what she might be planning?"
Sabrina Johnson’s case had caused a huge stir and was receiving a lot of public attention. Sue White had also watched the online broadcast of the court proceedings earlier that day.
"...I suspect she might be planning to feign mental illness to evade legal punishment," Sue White mused.
Sienna Johnson looked at Herbert Young. Since both experienced lawyers shared this opinion, Sienna Johnson found it even more credible. "If Sabrina Johnson really intends to feign mental illness to escape punishment, what should I do?"
