The Bigshot Married Himself to the Heiress-Chapter 472 - 473: Encountering Injustice, Sixth Master Takes Action
「Leland Family,」
When Cynthia Leland returned to visit her father, she found him talking to Morris about how to save Sabrina Johnson. Hearing their conversation immediately triggered her anger.
That old fox, Yvette Harris, must have visited Father and changed his mind. It had to be that scheming woman’s doing.
Cynthia, known for her fiery temper, kicked the door open, interrupting their conversation. Master Leland looked at his daughter and asked, "Who has upset you now?"
"Who else? You, of course!"
Cynthia stormed in and unleashed a tirade, "What’s wrong with you? Do you have a death wish? You’re in this state yourself, and you still want to meddle in that mother and daughter’s affairs."
"Milo has become a complete lunatic, and you’re a daughter who will marry out sooner or later. Am I not just trying to secure an heir for the Leland family?" Master Leland explained.
"An heir? An heir, you say? Don’t die before the child is even born! Who’ll raise him then? Besides, we don’t even know if she can carry the child to term yet."
Master Leland was so angered by his daughter’s words he could barely speak. "You... How could you curse your own brother like that?"
"I’m more concerned about you than some hypothetical brother who may or may not even exist! If that mother-daughter duo from the Johnson family weren’t such troublemakers, I wouldn’t care if you married both of them. But those two women, one more drama-prone than the other, are going to bring endless misfortune upon our Leland family."
"Sabrina is just an innocent girl," Master Leland defended.
Cynthia laughed unkindly. "She’s innocent? Father, you’re a man of experience; how can you be so muddled in your old age? If she were truly innocent, she wouldn’t have fought her sister for a man. If she were truly innocent, she wouldn’t have killed her adoptive father!"
"..."
"You should stay far away from an ungrateful woman like her, one who’s capable of killing her own adoptive father. Otherwise, you won’t even know what hit you when you die," Cynthia warned.
Morris, listening nearby, held his breath. This Cynthia Leland truly dared to say anything that came to her mind!
"You unfilial daughter! You’ll curse me to death one day! When you’re the only one left in the Leland family, then you’ll be satisfied, won’t you?" Master Leland fumed, his mouth twisting further.
Morris had to intervene. "Miss, Master Leland is ill and shouldn’t be agitated. Please, say a little less."
Cynthia rounded on Morris. "Morris, whose side are you on anyway? That old man is senile and confused! Instead of trying to talk some sense into him, you’re actually encouraging his foolishness! What exactly did that Yvette Harris and her daughter give you? Don’t tell me you slept with both of them?"
Morris’s face flushed crimson with rage, and his fists clenched. He said, restraining himself, "Miss, please watch what you say! There’s no such thing!"
"Hmph! That remains to be seen!"
"Miss!"
Master Leland interrupted their argument. "Enough. Don’t meddle in my affairs. Go do whatever you need to do. If you’re short on money, I’ll give you more."
"Are you really going to keep helping Sabrina Johnson?" Cynthia asked icily.
"Yes!"
"Fine! I’d like to see if that mother-daughter duo even appreciates your kindness!"
Cynthia stormed out, slamming the door behind her. This left Master Leland, whose mouth twisted further in anger, fuming, "Unfilial daughter, unfilial daughter! She’ll be the death of me one of these days!"
Watching Master Leland’s state, Morris couldn’t help but say, "Master Leland, Miss Cynthia is just concerned about you. Besides, I think she’s right about some things... Given your current physical condition, you really shouldn’t overexert yourself."
"That’s enough! I know what I’m doing!" Master Leland said stubbornly.
Master Leland had one deep-seated obsession: he wanted a son.
As his health worsened, this obsession only grew stronger. Even if he died, he had to leave an heir for the Leland family!
Seeing that he couldn’t change Master Leland’s mind, Morris fell silent.
"How many days until the court hearing?"
"Three days!"
"Go find that Sissi! Whether by threats or bribes, use any means necessary to make her keep her mouth shut! I don’t want her saying anything she shouldn’t in the courtroom!" A vicious glint flashed in Master Leland’s eyes.
"Yes!" Morris replied.
「...」
Sienna Johnson went to the hospital for her regular prenatal checkup; the baby was healthy.
Although the beginning of the pregnancy had been perilous, the baby, like a seed sown in fertile soil, had since begun to thrive. As parents, Sienna and Adrian Desmond were overjoyed to watch their child grow healthier day by day.
"Haha! I told you my kid wouldn’t be that fragile, but you didn’t believe me. Feeling reassured now, huh?" Adrian bragged.
Sienna really wanted to slap this man. She ordered imperiously, "I’m hungry! Go buy me something to eat!"
"There’s fruit in the car. Have some of that first, and I’ll cook for you when we get home!" He didn’t trust food from outside.
"Okay! I want roast duck, fried chicken, stir-fried pork, spicy fish, spicy hot pot..." Sienna reeled off a string of dishes as if reading from a menu, many of which Adrian had never even heard of.
"Are you messing with me? Can you even eat that much?"
"I have serious cravings! Can’t I just have a bite of each? I’m a pregnant woman now!"
"Alright, alright! The pregnant lady calls the shots!"
The couple left the hospital, Adrian holding Sienna’s hand as they got into the car. Sienna leaned against his leg and fell asleep, and Adrian carefully cradled her to prevent her from falling.
As their car passed down Grandview Road, Adrian spotted Sissi. She looked panicked and, surprisingly, wasn’t even wearing shoes, running barefoot ahead. Adrian narrowed his eyes; as the car sped past, he glimpsed two men chasing her.
"Stop the car!" Adrian ordered.
The car screeched to a halt. If Adrian hadn’t been holding her tightly, Sienna would have fallen to the floor.
Awakened from her light sleep, Sienna asked, "What’s wrong?" 𝗳𝗿𝐞𝕖𝘄𝗲𝕓𝗻𝚘𝚟𝕖𝐥.𝚌𝕠𝕞
"I saw Sissi!"
"Frederick Stewart’s mistress?"
"Yes!"
Adrian instructed, "Take the car back to the entrance of that alley we just passed."
"Yes, sir!"
As the car reversed, Adrian spotted Sissi’s figure again. He ordered Brett Jacobs, "She couldn’t have gone far; she must be nearby. Go find her and bring her to me."
"Yes, Sixth Master."
Brett Jacobs got out of the car and entered a secluded alley nearby. This area was close to the Slum Area and known for its complex mix of people, making it chaotic.
"What’s going on?" Sienna asked, puzzled.
"I just saw two men chasing her... and Sissi wasn’t wearing any shoes."
That is odd... Sienna thought. Sissi might be in trouble. However, Adrian wasn’t exactly a good Samaritan; he’d never do something as foolish as playing the hero out of a sense of justice. For him to take the initiative like this, it meant...
Her sharp mind quickly pieced it together. "Are you suspecting someone is targeting Sissi because of Sabrina Johnson?"
"Mhm."
"Who could it be?"
