Chapter 41: Chapter 041: No Betrayal Allowed

Xavier Young stood up and clapped his hands, his eyes flashing with a triumphant gleam that made Maxwell Young worry. It wasn’t that he looked down on his brother; rather, his brother’s intelligence was no match for Sienna Johnson’s. Sienna could sell that fool, and he’d still be counting the money for her. Maxwell Young was anxious, but there was nothing he could do.

Sienna Johnson wasn’t as calm as she’d appeared in front of Xavier Young. She had only cut herself because the situation demanded it. Of all the people here, anyone could be offended, except for Adrian Desmond.

"Huh? Why are you back?" Kiki asked when she saw Sienna Johnson return, her gaze drawn to Sienna’s injured arm. "Mai, how did your arm get hurt?"

Sienna covered her wounded arm with her hand. The wound was still bleeding, dyeing her sleeve red. It looked horrific, but it wasn’t actually that serious.

"Don’t be afraid. It just looks bad, but it’s nothing serious." She was a doctor; she knew exactly how deep to cut.

Kiki got out of bed. Seeing Sienna’s arm, half-stained red, tears began to stream down her face. "How did you hurt yourself? Weren’t you fine just a moment ago?"

"This is a knife wound... Mai, did Sixth Master find out and use a knife on you?" Kiki asked, her voice trembling.

Ever since Sienna had told Kiki about her fake pregnancy, Kiki had been worried sick, terrified that Adrian Desmond would find out.

"Kiki, calm down and listen to me!" Sienna said. "My wound needs to be treated. Go to Little Ninth’s room and get his medical kit!"

Kiki nodded meekly and scrambled to get the medical kit for Sienna. Little Ninth wasn’t on the ship; Adrian Desmond had sent him back to Abyanabad. Sienna was incredibly relieved Little Ninth wasn’t there. With him gone, it would be impossible to tell whether she’d had a miscarriage or was just having her period.

Sienna was sitting on the bed, waiting for Kiki to bring the medical kit, when the cabin door suddenly BANGED open. It wasn’t Kiki who entered, but Adrian Desmond.

"Adrian Desmond?" Sienna hadn’t expected him to arrive so quickly.

"What are you—?" Sienna began, but then she saw Xavier Young behind Adrian Desmond, and everything instantly became clear. So, her self-inflicted wound hadn’t been enough to keep Xavier quiet after all.

"Mai, I brought it..." Kiki said, holding the medical kit. She flinched upon seeing Adrian Desmond standing like a forbidding sentinel at the door. Kiki was terrified of Adrian, the way a mouse fears a cat.

Sienna deliberately avoided looking at Adrian Desmond and said to Kiki, who was still near the door, "Kiki, bring the medical kit to me, quickly. Do you want me to bleed to death?"

"Oh..." Forgetting her fear of Adrian Desmond for a moment, Kiki carefully entered the room with the medical kit. She knelt at Sienna’s feet, helped her open it, and asked, "How can I help you?"

"First, disinfect it, then stop the bleeding, and finally, bandage it for me. It’s just a knife wound; it’s not fatal," Sienna calmly instructed.

"A girl’s body is precious," Kiki fretted. "Even if it’s not fatal, if it leaves a scar, you might be looked down upon when you marry."

"Who would dare look down on me?!" Sienna laughed.

Kiki skillfully treated the wound according to Sienna’s instructions. She hurt Sienna a few times accidentally and apologized profusely, but Sienna merely smiled.

"Sixth Master, what are you waiting for? This woman deceived you! You must teach her a lesson!" Seeing Adrian Desmond make no move for a while, Xavier Young couldn’t help but urge him on. He couldn’t wait to see Sienna Johnson meet a miserable end.

He had told Adrian Desmond everything. The one thing Adrian despised most in his life was betrayal. Sienna Johnson had dared to deceive Adrian about being pregnant. He was eager to see what fate awaited this woman.

HUMPH!

Perhaps because she had learned to be observant from a young age, Sienna Johnson had always been adept at reading people. Although Adrian Desmond hadn’t said a word, she could feel his simmering rage.

Her escape had already angered him. The only reason he hadn’t punished her yet was because of the "son" in her belly. Now that the "son" was gone, Adrian Desmond would naturally have no more reservations about punishing her.

"Mai, it’s bandaged," Kiki said after she finished, still squatting and not daring to lift her head. Sienna knew Kiki was afraid of Adrian Desmond, so she told her, "You can go out first. It seems Sixth Master has something to say to me."

Kiki shook her head. "I won’t leave... What if..." She glanced up at Adrian Desmond, whose expression was as still as deep water, and lost the courage to say more.

"I’ll be fine. You go out. I’ll call you if I need anything."

"But..."

"Get out!" Adrian Desmond roared. "All of you, get out!"

Kiki trembled and stumbled, plopping onto the floor. Sienna helped her up with her uninjured arm and said softly, "Go on out first. I’ll be fine."

Kiki knew she couldn’t be of any help there. She sidled past Adrian Desmond, trying to make herself as small as possible. At the doorway, she glanced back at Sienna Johnson. Sienna was sitting there, hand on her injured arm, her expression surprisingly composed.

Adrian Desmond saw that Xavier Young hadn’t moved and said to him, "Xavier, you get out too!"

"Yes, Sixth Master!"

As much as Xavier Young wanted to stay and watch the show, he didn’t dare disobey Adrian Desmond’s command. He shot a hostile glance at the woman who appeared so unruffled, smirking inwardly. She’s still putting on an act even when disaster is imminent. Let’s see how long she can keep it up.

Once the others had left, only Adrian Desmond and Sienna Johnson remained in the room. The air in the room seemed to grow heavy. Sienna Johnson looked up at Adrian Desmond, her gaze gentle. "Xavier must have been saying bad things about me."

Adrian Desmond took two steps forward, standing over Sienna Johnson, and said bluntly, "He told me you were never pregnant at all!"

Sienna Johnson’s eyes flickered. She gave a slight smile and asked, "And you believed him?"

"I want you to tell me yourself. Were you pregnant or not?" He squatted down. Adrian Desmond was very tall, so squatting brought him to eye level with Sienna Johnson. He seemed to revert to the man she had first met: cold, ruthless, and hard-hearted.

How could Sienna Johnson possibly admit it? She continued to lie, "I was pregnant, but... I had a miscarriage." She paused, touching her injured arm as if wanting to say more, but ultimately said nothing.

"Mai, I despise deceit above all else! Especially being deceived by my own woman! I’ll ask you one last time: were you truly pregnant, or was it faked?"

Knowing Little Ninth wasn’t there, Sienna Johnson said with feigned confidence, "Adrian, I really was pregnant. It’s just that... I had a miscarriage."

"Fine! I’ll believe you this one time!" Adrian Desmond’s gaze was frigid, like two blades of black ice; all warmth had vanished from his eyes. It was as if he had transformed into a different person, no longer the man who had accompanied her on deck to watch the sea and the stars just a short while ago.
