The Betrayed Heiress's Second Comeback-Chapter 72: Ch : Crossing a Line- Part 1
"Hmmm~"
I could not help but hum in happiness as I watched the situation unfold online. Slowly but surely, the public sentiment that was with Miss Iris until now was beginning to shift.
It was subtle at first, like a crack in glass, but once it started, there was no stopping it.
The more her team and fans tried to defend her, the more evidence against her popped up. By now, it would be clear to anyone that it was all happening because she had angered someone she should not have.
In response to everything, Iris had let out another post.
A predictable move, but one that only added fuel to the fire.
[Iris
I would like to thank my team and my fans for all the unconditional support. I have always tried my best to maintain a professional conduct. I do not know who is spreading all these rumors about me and staging this false evidence. But I will find them, and I will make them pay.]
Those words caused people to get excited and heated even more. Her defenders came to her defense even faster compared to before.
It was...just unfortunate for her at this point because she had to go up against me. Her career was as good as over.
"Her career is as good as over now. I should ask the news reporters to stop holding back now. I should also get ready to head to the set now. Today is the last day of shooting."
There was no reason to stall when the end was already in sight. I quickly pushed myself back on my feet and left my room.
As soon as I reached the living room, Damian looked at me and stood up as well. He extended his hand toward me silently, but his eyes told me that he was not going to take no for an answer.
There was something firm and possessive in that look.
"Are you going to accompany me to the shooting set? I thought you had important things to do today."
I asked him, and Damian replied without missing a beat.
"I did have important things to do. But I figured that Jason can do them for me, and Emma can also handle my tasks. For now, I should focus on expanding our business in the industry."
That sounded like an excuse from Damian’s side. But who was I to look a gifted horse in the mouth? If he wanted to come with me, then it was better for me.
Having him beside me always shifted the atmosphere.
"Alright. I won’t ask any more questions. We should head out now, or we will be late."
We both left the house, and the driver quickly drove us over to the set. The mood on the set was tense, but the people around us relaxed as soon as they saw us.
Our presence alone seemed to reassure them.
"Mister Black and Miss Jenna, it is nice to have you both on set for the last day. I have a feeling that things will go much more smoothly with you both by our side."
The director told us as he walked over to us. Noah also let out a relief-filled sigh after seeing familiar faces.
"Hmm, it is our pleasure to be here, director. I hope our presence does not distract you from your work."
I told him quickly, and the director let out a startled laugh.
"Oh no—! Of course not, miss. You being here is an encouragement for us all. Now, we shall head back to work."

Rose’s POV
"T-This...what is this nonsense? Why is Iris being attacked like this? And this evidence? What is this?"
My head throbbed as I scrolled, unable to process the speed of it all.
I could not help but throw my phone away as soon as the report of what was happening came in.
The screen felt like it was mocking me.
According to witnesses and the news, Iris’s reputation had gone down the drain, and she was taking Harvour Industries with her.
Every headline felt like another slap to my face.
The longer we defended her honor and allowed her to do as she pleased, the more we were being criticized by the public. It was getting to the point where people wanted us to fire her.
"Tsk, if I could fire Iris, I would have done that by now. She has too much dirt on us all to let her go calmly. She can ruin a lot of people..."
Including me.
I wanted to bite my nail, but I knew that would not resolve anything. In the end, I decided to call Iris over and have a talk with her.
The female looked half-drunk when she entered my office, and her eyes were still glazed over because of alcohol.
She took a seat in front of me but immediately went for the bottle in front of her, not bothering to even look at me.
"So, missy, what did you ask me to come here for? I don’t think it was just to have a chat?"
Iris asked, her usual refined self nowhere to be seen. She had never bothered to hide herself in my presence before.
Now, that lack of restraint felt dangerous.
I had liked this about Iris before, but now it was the source of my headache.
"Iris, I have called you here to talk about your contract and all that is going on. Do you have anything to say to me?"
I was giving Iris a chance to confess and apologize to me. If she was willing to admit her faults, then I could help her out.
Unfortunately for Iris, she was too dense to take my hint.
"Tsk, I don’t know what you want from me, Rose. I did as I was asked to and nothing more. If anything, isn’t it your fault you are not able to control this situation? Jenna would have been able to control it without any problems."
The name alone felt like a knife twisting deeper.
