The Betrayed Heiress's Second Comeback-Chapter 69: Ch : Heated Discussion
The atmosphere had grown tense due to the power struggle, and everyone was wondering which side they should take now.
People stopped moving around the set, pretending to adjust equipment while secretly listening in.
Before things could get worse, I decided to step in.Letting this drag on any longer would only give Iris more control over the situation.
"Miss Iris, whatever promises you made with the director or anyone else are your own business outside your professional life. If you are going to disturb our business like this, then we will have no choice but to file a complaint against you with the police."
My voice was calm, but I made sure it carried across the set so everyone could hear. My words acted like a cold shower, and Iris immediately stepped back, not wanting to get involved.
For the first time since she arrived, she looked unsure of herself.
After all, she had quite a few police records that she wanted to keep a secret from everyone.
"Fine, you win this time. I will take my leave...for now. But this is not the end, director. You have betrayed me and my trust. I will make sure you have a hard time working in the future. And you as well, kid. You better be prepared to face the consequences of stealing my work."
Her words were sharp, but they lacked the confidence she had earlier.
Iris sounded a little desperate when she spoke. I could sense that her old habits were slipping back in.
Before I had taken Iris in, she had been one of the host girls in a high-class casino, and she did everything one could imagine—drink, drugs, and gambling. But her talent for acting was incredible.
So the talent agents in Harvour Industries had sealed her past behind an iron-clad wall and taken to keeping an eye on her at all times to make sure she was not causing trouble for anyone.
However, the security seemed to have finally become lax enough for Iris to slip back into her old habits.
’Looks like the end for her and Harvour Industries is near. I better start approaching the honest and hard-working talents and bring them to my side.’
This was an opportunity I couldn’t afford to miss.
Iris finally made her way out, but not before she shot me and everyone else an angry glare as a warning not to mess with her. Her heels echoed loudly as she left, as if trying to reclaim some dignity.
The tension around the set immediately dropped, causing everyone to let out a sigh of relief.
The air felt lighter almost instantly.
"A-Are we free? That was such a tense encounter."
"Miss Iris was terrifying. It was...so different from her usual soft impression."
"Did our producer actually make a mistake this big?"
People gossiped as they tried to make sense of what had happened. Before the misunderstanding could get any bigger, the director clapped his hands together to gather everyone’s attention.
"Alright, everyone. Break time is over. It’s time to get back to work."
He told everyone, and my attention immediately snapped toward Noah. He looked pale and worried as he stood near us.
"Don’t worry so much, Noah. Everything will be fine. Miss Iris might seem threatening, but there is no real harm she can do to us. If she tries anything online, we will take care of her."
I assured Noah, and he relaxed a little bit. But the worry did not completely slip from his face.
"Alright, I will trust you. It’s not like I have another choice in this matter...."
His voice was quiet, but sincere. The director quickly called everyone back to work, and things went back to normal...well, as normal as they could be, given the circumstances.
The shoot resumed, though the earlier tension lingered beneath the surface.
I took out my phone to check what the current news was, only to see that Iris was trending everywhere. I immediately opened her post to see what she had said.
My stomach sank the moment I saw her name.
[Iris
I am so heart-broken today. Some people really do not know how to keep their promises.]
Her post had already gotten over 500k likes and just as many shares. She was creating drama that everyone else wanted to participate in as well.
She had not named anyone in her post, but people were already starting to speculate who it was about.
"Is something wrong? You have been checking your phone for some time now. Did something happen?"
Damian asked as he came to stand beside me. His attentiveness was appreciated, and I decided to tell him what was happening.
Having him beside me made things feel more manageable.
"I see...should we retaliate right now?"
Damian asked, and I thought about it for a while before deciding to give it some more time.
"Let Iris speak up a bit more. The more she has people agitated, the harder her fall will be. As for her weakness, I think I heard a few rumors that are worth following. I would like to have those investigated first."
I knew more about Iris than I was letting on. But telling all I knew to Damian would likely raise suspicion.
Some truths were better revealed later.
So I held back my comments...for now, at least. After all timing was everything.
"Alright, if that is what you want me to do, then I will hold myself back."
I gave him an appreciative nod before we went back to the director and the staff. They were still trying to figure things out.
Due to what happened with Iris, Noah had become nervous. But he was slowly recovering and getting back to his normal rhythm.
Nothing out of the ordinary happened the whole day after that, and the shooting came to an end.
The director apologized for the drama, but he looked pleased with the shots he got today. I told him not to worry before I left for home as well.
And just as I was about to fall asleep, Iris posted another message on her socials.
[Iris
Some people are far too shameless. I am being so patient, giving them time to come back and apologize to me, but they refuse to even acknowledge me. If this continues, I will be forced to take action.]
And that...caused a huge wave of comments and shares as well. Things were getting heated now.
