The Art of Pursuing: The Unyielding Ex-wife-Chapter 330: I think her previous life must have been very happy
"Good idea."
Throughout the meal, the two of them chatted intermittently. Xu Yisen briefly introduced the project he was going to sign in France and how much profit it could bring to Fanshu Group in the future.
Munni, on the other hand, told Xu Yisen about the operational status of the restaurant that had just reopened.
After dinner, Xu Yisen wanted to spend more time with Munni, but Munni urged him to return to his room and rest early.
Because he was exhausted, Xu Yisen’s body really felt weary. After bending down to plant a kiss on Munni’s forehead, he bid her goodnight and returned to his room to freshen up and rest.
Having slept for an entire afternoon, Munni didn’t feel sleepy at all. After Xu Yisen left, she returned to her room, sat on the sofa chair by the window, and stared blankly at the bustling foreign city outside.
The hotel she was staying at was near Central Park, and even though it was late at night, there were streams of cars coming and going below.
She didn’t know how long she had been sitting there in a daze. When she came back to her senses, she suddenly realized that she seemed to have not contacted Zhang Chufeng.
Because she’d been sitting in the same position for a long time, Munni’s legs felt a bit numb. She slowly stood up from the sofa chair, walked to the bed, and picked up her phone, which she had just tossed on the bed.
The phone screen displayed an unread text message from Zhang Chufeng... [If convenient, please come to see me tomorrow morning. Here’s the address...]
[Okay, see you tomorrow morning.]
After replying to Zhang Chufeng’s text message, Munni went to the bathroom to freshen up before climbing into bed to sleep.
...
Zhang Chufeng arranged to meet Munni at the villa where Zhao Yaru lived before she passed away.
Xu Yisen originally wanted to accompany Munni, but knowing he still had some matters to deal with, Munni insisted he and Tang Haoliang remain at the hotel, saying she’d just take a taxi by herself.
Xu Yisen reluctantly let her go on her own but instructed her to call him immediately if anything happened; he would rush to her side right away.
Munni hailed a taxi at the hotel entrance. After waving goodbye to Xu Yisen, who saw her off, she opened the car door and got in.
The taxi driver was an extremely enthusiastic middle-aged man. After Munni told him the destination, the driver chuckled with a rich voice, teasingly saying, "Oh, that’s an area where the wealthy gather. Do you know someone living there?"
Munni replied politely in fluent English, "My mother used to live there."
"Did she move from that wealthy area to somewhere else?"
Munni turned her gaze out the window, softly answered, "She just passed away."
At a red light, the driver braked and looked at Munni’s reflection in the rearview mirror, apologetically saying, "I’m sorry to hear that. I didn’t mean to bring up something sad for you." 𝙛𝓻𝒆𝒆𝒘𝙚𝓫𝙣𝙤𝒗𝙚𝓵.𝙘𝙤𝙢
Munni withdrew her gaze, looked at the driver, and shook her head, "It’s okay."
"I imagine she led a happy life, having such a beautiful and kind daughter like you."
Munni shook her head with a bitter smile, "She divorced my father and abandoned me when I was little."
The traffic light ahead turned from red to green. The driver focused his attention forward and pressed the gas pedal to continue driving.
After a few seconds of silence, he slowly said, "Sweetheart, I’m very sorry for what you went through. I know no amount of comforting words can heal the hurt in your heart. But, I wish you a beautiful life, because a kind woman like you deserves a beautiful life."
