Gale realized it was too late to tell him the truth when the Guardians began to arrive faster than they anticipated. Indeed they had got scared and curious by his invitation as it had never happened before.

"They are here". Gale went to inform him.

"All of them?" Alpha Mitch asked.

"Except Agatha" Gale muttered heavily. If Agatha arrives, it’s only a matter of minutes before the truth reveals itself.

"We will give her ten more minutes".

" I have something to say Alpha" Gale began deciding to own up to his action.

The deal was done and dealing with the consequences is all that’s left.

"What?" Alpha Mitch queried and slowly appraised him with a frown.

His gaze made Gale nervous and he took a step back.

"Why aren’t you talking? You did something that could get you killed?" Alpha Mitch asked passively but the lack of response from him made him look up with a cocked brow.

"I...I did it" He said with a little stutter.

Alpha Mitch remained silent but now gave all his attention to him. Wordlessly urging him on.

"I had the Omega taken away," he confessed remorsefully.

"What are you talking about?"

"I asked Agatha to keep the Omega away from you for a while because I thought that was for the best. You collapse that day and also never do anything but talk about him and cater for him.

You needed a mate not a liability" Gale explained and with each word, Alpha Mitch’s gaze darkened.

"Is that all?" He asked slowly.

His voice came out like a growl and rumbled through the space between them.

Gale looked at his clenched fist and knew this decision might really cost him his life.

"Why didn’t you tell me when I searched endlessly?" Alpha Mitch asked in a dangerously calm tone.

He slowly rose out of his seat and approached Gale. And Gale was trying everything in his power to appear composed.

"I married him because you chose him, I got closer to him because you suggested it. I am trying to treat him better because the pack demands it.

How dare you then take him away? Who is the Alpha here Gale? YOU or ME?!" Alpha Mitch roared, making him fall to his knee. The Alpha’s fury was in no way what he could withstand.

He bowed his head as the Alpha got closer to him.

"After that I spent hours trying to uncover what really happened and you still didn’t tell me until now?" Alpha Mitch squinted as he became blinded by the anger but was trying to keep his temper at bay.

Slapping him hard across the face, Gale flew to the door as the hit was unexpected. He hit the door and fell to the ground but he did not make any attempt to stand from the ground.

"Not in a thousand years would I have expected this from you!". Alpha Mitch spat and headed towards the door but on the other end of the door.

Tristan stood with tears in his eyes, he had heard everything.

Mariah stood beside and was also as surprised as the Omega.

Tristan’s heart shattered into a million pieces.

Nothing was real, everything he did was for one reason or another.

Tristan thought as his heart struggled to keep up with the strangling pain that struck him.

He was beginning to think the Alpha genuinely liked him but just like any other Alphas he had done all that just because of some gain.

He hadn’t got closer to him because he wanted to but because of the pack.

"Let’s go" Mariah whispered after a long bang sounded on the door from within.

She was trembling with anger and regretted asking him to come with her to ask for his permission to go out together.

They had just taken a step back when the door opened to reveal Alpha Mitch.

His eyes widened as he came face to face with him.

"What are you doing here?" He asked looking at them for an answer but Tristan let out a choked sob before he ran off.

"Don’t go after him Mitch!" Mariah yelled and pulled him back.

"You deceived him?

You did everything you do because of the pack not because you like him?

Why?" Mariah asked, not mincing words.

"You heard all that?"

"We heard you bellowed in there!

You asshole!" She screamed and went in the direction Tristan had gone.

Tristan got to the room and locked the door after him.

He slid down to the floor and broke into tears. He hugged his arms around his knees and silently sobbed.

After spending almost an hour in that same position, he had exhausted his tears but the pain in his heart was still excruciating.

Mariah had come every ten minutes to knock on the door but he could not pull himself up to unlock it.

His heart tugged painfully as Alpha Mitch’s words replayed in his head.

He had thought he was lucky to get to be with the most amazing Alpha but all he was all lies and he became just a liability.

He cried himself to sleep and lay on his side on the ground by the door. Hours passed and he finally woke up but couldn’t stand up.

His whole body was hot and he was shivering.

A knock started sounding on the door and Tristan dragged himself away from the door.

He wished he could stop the pains in his heart but that’s one of his nature. Too much emotion to do him any good.

"Tristan please open the door" Mariah pleaded outside the door as she knelt beside it.

"It’s just me here and I need to make sure you are fine. You need to answer me please".

Beside Mariah, Alpha Mitch stood with a frown on his face.

He was starting to grow angry at the tantrum.

He had said those words because they were true but so were also his feelings.

"Go and get me a spare key for this door" He ordered Tristan’s maid that stood with them and she hurried off.

"If you do not open this door now, I would open it myself" Alpha Mitch spoke to the door and Tristan stiffened as he heard from inside the room.

Ignoring him, Tristan stood up and went into the closet to hide from him. If he was revealing his true colours now, he doesn’t want to face it just yet.

"Alpha, she has arrived." Someone came to inform him suddenly. Distracting him from Tristan.
