Chapter 970: THE FINAL BATTLE (36)

Iris’s first thought was to get her babies to the safety, they needed to get out of the building, just in case it collapsed and harmed all of them.

Hanna and Aliana held each baby and followed the alpha and the luna out of the building, the rest came with them too. Abby held her own baby with Cedric stayed close to her.

In no time, they managed to go out of the building, but people were bustling on the street, they were trying to get away from this continent, as they fought to get into the ships, especially when the guard in the watch tower informed them that the red smoke was spotted. It would spread in this area within a day.

By morning the next day, this pack would have been destroyed. They would die if they stayed, but if they moved to the south, they would die eventually too, since there was no way for them to escape this continent.

Their only chance to survive was to board on the ship. This was the only harbor, if this harbor was covered by the poisonous miasma, it would be the end of them.

The babies were crying because of the loud noises around them and they could feel the distressful of the situation they were currently in.

"Iris, there is no other choice," Cane said. He didn’t need to elaborate for Iris to know what he meant.

Letto was one of the pillars and they needed to kill him to stop the poisonous miasma from spreading further.

"There is no point of killing him, Cane. We still have not yet figured out the last pillar," Iris retorted. She still felt so heavy if she had to kill Letto when that young man adjusted so well with the other people and the girls liked him.

He was the only man that the girls trusted to be around them and she knew that Letto was not evil, he only joined the wrong people.

"It will slow down the poisonous miasma," Cane stated the truth.

The poisonous miasma didn’t spread faster than usual and the fissures on the ground didn’t appear as often because they had killed two of the pillars, if those two were still alive, this place would have been a graveyard long ago.

Iris bit her tongue, she didn’t want to be irrational, but right now what her mind and heart said were not in synch.

The other warriors opened the path for them, while the babies were having the the utmost protection, as they headed toward the pack house, where Will and Redmond had been waiting for them.

The earthquake had stopped and thankfully, there was no building that collapsed.

Behind Redmond, Iris could see Sofia with her two children, Rye and Lucia must have been more than a year old and they looked so adorable. Rye actually took after Sofia, he was a beautiful little one, while Lucia only knew Sofia as her mother and apparently Sofia had accepted her, thinking of her as her own.

She was no longer staring at Cane with infatuation, she looked polite and lowered her head when the alpha and the luna walked in front of her.

"We have prepared everything and moved to the south immediately," Cezi reported to Cane.

They chose to buy some time in order to think a way out of this situation, thus they needed to avoid the poisonous miasma for the meantime.

"There will be a long entourage if we took everyone with us," Redmond chimed in. They moved to the strategy room. There were so many people in the pack house, especially children and elderly, with their pace, they would slow them down. "Are you sure we need to bring them all?"

"We will bring them all," Iris said firmly, leaving no room for negotiation and Redmond didn’t say anything anymore about it.

Suddenly, they heard a loud footstep and a little bit commotion, but they knew who it could be. Lil Thing could sense Iris’s presence, it galloped toward her, but it only nudged her hand for a while, before it took interest to the babies on Hanna and Aliana’s arms.

The white bear circled the two of them, sniffing curiously.

"Let Lil Thing saw the babies," Iris said. Her eyes turned gentle. She remembered what she saw before. She saw her babies and Lil Thing together. This bear would love the babies too.

More so, she saw her babies was a few years older, which meant, this couldn’t be the end of them. there was still a way to escape the situation, they just not yet figured it out.

"Do you want to see them?" Hanna said with a smile, she lowered her body, so Lil Thing could sniff the baby. Aliana did the same too.

With Lil Thing was around and a few warriors with them, Iris and Cane continued to walk toward the strategy room, to discuss this matter more thoroughly.

"You look gorgeous after giving birth!" Ethan greeted her, it seemed, no matter what happened out there, it couldn’t upset him when he found Aliana was safe and sound. He became his cheerful himself and even hugged Iris tightly before Cane glared him down.

Iris chuckled to see the interaction between Cane and Ethan.

Aside from the gamma, Jace was also there, so did Iris’s protectors, aside from Zale. Abby joined them too after she asked Arella to look after Bielle. Redmond and Derick were there as well.

They discussed this matter for a while, before they came to a conclusion that they had to kill Letto. If by killing him meant they could prolong their time until they could find the last pillar, it would be worth it, but Iris was hesitated. She didn’t want to kill him.

"You only need to turn blind eyes," Redmond said. He was practical and didn’t think there was something wrong if they wanted to kill Letto for the greater good. They were talking about the safety of the remaining shifters in this continent.

The population of shifters must have dwindled significantly now.

"If you don’t want to do it, you don’t need to be presence," Redmond added.

Iris and Abby were the only people, who were against it, while the men chose to be efficient with their option and time. They used their logic only while shutting down their emotions.

"Call Letto here," Iris said, she could feel the air magic stone sang against her touch.

While they wait for Letto to come, silent engulfed the room, they didn’t say anything, but then someone knocked on the door, not to bring Letto, but to report an urgent matter to them.

Pax entered the room and informed them what was going on right now in the harbor.

"There is something strange happened at the harbor, the water suddenly drained away, showing the ocean floor, reefs and fish like a very low, low tide." Pax gave them a brief detail about and how panic people were because the ships couldn’t dock and people attempted to walk on the ocean floor in attempt to get to the ships.

"The water suddenly drained away?" Lou furrowed his brows. "What now?"
