The Alpha: Claiming His Enemy's Daughter-Chapter 961: THE FINAL BATTLE (27)
Chapter 961: THE FINAL BATTLE (27)
As a replacement for a horse, Lil Thing was the one that pulled the carriage, where Iris was sleeping soundly. The carriage was so small, so it was only enough for her alone.
She didn’t wake up until the next day.
Tonight, they had to travel far to get something to eat, since everything was destroyed by the backlash or the monsters, until they entered the Cassius mountain at night that they could find a few deer.
Cane was guarding the carriage for a whole night and day in his beast form. He would wake up even for a small noise, though they took turn to stand guard, but the alpha seemingly woke up for the whole night.
"Stop it!" Zale said, as he rushed away from Lou, but he didn’t forget to bring his deer meat with him.
"What happened?" Cedric asked, he brought his meat and sat down on the spot where Zale was sitting a moment ago, frowning when Lou was laughing mirthfully.
"I told him what I was doing to Kellan’s head." Lou bit his meat happily. He looked a little bit pale because he pushed himself too far when he used his power to torture Kellan. But, he was happy nonetheless. It was very worth it.
Cedric frowned. "What did you do?"
Wickedness flashed in his eyes when he gestured for Cedric to get closer to him, as he told him every detail of what he had done to Kellan’s head.
"Stop it!" Cedric pulled away from him. Lou had not yet told him half of the story, but the poor knight felt like his stomach had churned. "I don’t want to know the detail. You are insane."
Lou shrugged his shoulder nonchalantly. "Well. He deserved that and more."
"What is it? What is it?" Ethan joined them and sat down next to the merchant. "What are you talking about?"
"Do you want to know?" Lou smiled harmlessly.
"What?"
"What I have done to Kellan."
"Of course! Tell me!"
Seeing the gamma was being beguiled easily, Cedric left the two of them and approached Letto. He was talking to one of the little girls, but she immediately ran back to the other little girls when she saw Cedric approached them.
"She is not used to be with the stranger," Letto said, as if he excused the little girl’s behavior.
Cedric stared at him for a while. Cane had told the four of them about who Letto was and what they needed to do to him. He didn’t feel right to kill this innocent young man, especially when he didn’t look like he had any evil intention toward them.
"Is there something that you wanted to talk about?" Letto asked because Cedric didn’t say anything.
They didn’t execute Letto immediately because all of them were spent after purging Decratic’s body, none of them would be able to handle the backlash. If they had to do it, they had to wait until they recovered first and their best shot was Lou.
The merchant would be the executioner.
"Your master is dead, how do you feel about it?" Cedric gestured for Letto to sit down next to him and watched how Ethan cursed at Lou and rushed to throw up, just like Zale did.
Letto sat down next to Cedric and contemplated. He chose his words carefully. "I know he is bad. But, he is not always bad too."
Cedric didn’t say anything and let Letto talked.
The young man told him about the story of how he met with Dexter. How he followed him and dedicated his life for him, but deep down, he knew his master was doing something bad, but life didn’t give him an easy choice.
"I am sad he died, but I know that for the better," he said in small voice, he lowered his head to hide his tears. Despite everything, he thought of Dexter as a father figure. It was not easy for him.
Cedric patted his shoulder. It would be harder for them now.
The next day, they departed early in the morning and on their way to Golden Light pack, they realized; because Decratic’s backlash didn’t reach this area, thus the spread of the poisonous miasma was still happening and monsters still emerged from the fissures.
Ethan’s eyes became so dark, as he urged them to move faster.
They thought the backlash would eradicate all the poisonous miasma, but they were so wrong about it and now dreadful thought came into his mind. Things could go very wrong and Aliana also the other could be in a great danger now.
Later that evening, Iris finally woke up. She looked around her groggily and found herself was in this tiny carriage, which made her startled and immediately rushed out of there.
Her first instinct was to flee, thankfully, Cane was there and he caught her in time before she stumbled.
"C- Cane?" Iris startled when she saw her mate. He looked haggard, but fine and when she looked around, she saw familiar faces around her, which made her teared up. "Cane!"
Iris hugged Cane tightly and all of them stopped whatever they were doing when they saw Iris had regained her consciousness.
"Welcome back, luna," Cezi said, smiling softly at her.
"Iris!" Lou screeched, he opened his arms widely. "I missed you so much! Come here! Hug me!"
Cane didn’t need to deal with the crazy merchant when Zale kicked his leg. "Have some decency, will you?"
All of them greeted the luna warmly to see her awake and fine.
The children immediately rushed toward her, crying and hugging her, which made Cane had to back off and let Iris was being monopolized by these little girls.
And then after dinner, Lou finally got a chance to get closer to Iris because he needed to check on her, since there was no healer and he was the only one that could do that.
"You are fine!" Lou said happily.
"What about the babies?" Iris put her hand over her stomach. She could see her little wolves were sleeping around her feet and knew they were fine, but an extra reassurance wouldn’t hurt.
"Well, they are fine too, as strong as horses."
Iris pursed her lips. "They are wolves."
Lou shrugged his shoulders, didn’t want to dwell with it.
"Tell me what happened."
Lou immediately jumped into this opportunity to have a long talk with Iris, he would tell her all the detail and even the unimportant one, but Cane cut him off before he could say anything.
"That’s enough for today. You need to rest. We will go early in the morning," Cane said and when Iris didn’t want to go, he carried her back to the carriage. "I will tell you what happened tomorrow, now you need to rest."
"I have been sleeping for hours, Cane," Iris protested when Cane put her inside the carriage.
"Sleep, love, please. Just take a rest." Cane kissed her lips, but Iris pulled him inside the carriage.
"Why don’t you accompany me until I fell asleep?" Iris clung onto him.
"The carriage is very small for the two of us." Cane nibbled on her lips when he said this.
"Excuse me, but there are children here," Lou reminded them.
