The Alpha: Claiming His Enemy's Daughter-Chapter 1011: SIDE STORY (LOU): A MISSING PIECE
Chapter 1011: SIDE STORY (LOU): A MISSING PIECE
After being kicked out from his own property, Lou intended to go to Iris, but at this hour, she most likely be with Cane and tended to him. He wanted to go to Redmond, but he didn’t want to see a child and that redhead warrior had a little girl.
In the end, he went to Ethan’s place, but the gamma was away and there was only Aliana.
"What are you doing here?" Aliana crossed her arms in front of her chest. She judged him. "You look so awful."
"Nala just kicked me out."
"I am going to do the same."
Lou grumbled. "At the very least, let me in."
"No. My mate is not here. I don’t want there is a rumor about it."
Both of them made a look when they imagined there was such nasty rumor about them. That was very terrifying, more than anything that they had ever heard.
"Go back to your home, Lou."
Lou had a lot of properties, countless houses, more than he needed, but he didn’t have a home. A place that he could call home did not exist.
"I don’t have a place anywhere, Aliana." Lou rubbed his face roughly, he stared at the vast night sky. He didn’t even know what he wanted now.
He was interested in Iris and seeing her would always excite him, but this feeling wouldn’t go anywhere. He didn’t think it would go somewhere either.
"I don’t talk about place, Lou, sometime home is not always about a house, but someone that we are comfortable with."
Aliana had heard what happened between him and Nala and she understood why this merchant looked like a headless chicken, but Lou was very stubborn to admit it, it was hard for him to accept something that he was not familiar with.
Aliana felt bad for Lou, but that feeling changed in a blink of an eye with his respond.
Lou frowned. "Don’t talk to me with gentle tone. You gave me goosebumps." He shuddered. "Being that kind doesn’t suit you."
The sympathy that Aliana felt for him disappeared, evaporated into thin air. "Go away, Lou! Nala was right to kick you out! Scram!"
"Hey! I am going, I am going!" Lou grumbled and then walked away.
"I will let Ethan know that you come over," Aliana said before she closed the door and she indeed sent Ethan to Lou when the gamma just returned.
"What did you do to my mate?" Ethan kicked Lou’s back, as he sulked near the river. It was not that hard to find him, because his scent engraved in his mind. That was an annoying fact for him.
"I didn’t do anything!" Lou rubbed his back and caught the thing that Ethan tossed to him. It was a waterskin, but both of them knew what was inside. Lou indeed needed a little bit alcohol in his system.
"You came with your morose look on your face."
"Is that even a crime?" Lou gulped down the alcohol. "The city is still lively."
"Tomorrow is the coronation."
Both of them fell silent, as they immersed into the festivities. Those dark days during the war and the slavery seemed like a long dream, the memories during that time had started fading away, it replaced by good ones, though sometime it would come to hunt them in their nightmares, but it was not often.
"So, you are leaving?"
"Yes."
Ethan nodded. "Please, take a good care of them."
"What do you mean? They should be the one, who took a good care of me, because I am willing to go with them."
Ethan scoffed in disdain. Lou didn’t change at all. He still wanted to beat him up sometime. "And you are going to leave Nala and your baby behind?"
With that question, Lou actually fell silent.
"How is it to have a child?"
"You need to ask Redmond about that." Ethan gulped down his drink and Lou didn’t talk about that again.
Actually, there was not much that the two of them were talking about, they didn’t even touch the main topic about why Lou was restless.
But when the sky started to turn brighter, Ethan stood up and stretched his body. "You should have taken Nala with you and raised your baby together."
"No. I will not do that."
Ethan shrugged his shoulders. "You are going to regret that." He looked at his old friend. "If you could handle the problem in this kingdom and help to build it, handling a child will not that hard."
"This kingdom doesn’t poop and pee."
"Right, but surely this kingdom has some shit."
After that, Ethan went away. Because of this merchant, he had to stay all night and now, he had to take care of the coronation without a blink of sleep at all.
Meanwhile, Lou stayed in the same place until it was time for Zander to be crowned, only then he appeared after he cleaned himself up.
The coronation itself went very well, Cane was in his good day and they were having their festivities, but once the night came, Cane and Iris would leave to Chrystal Moon pack, as they would leave with the earliest ship.
Lou had packed everything, but he still felt there was something missing. He checked again and again, but he was certain there was nothing that he missed, but why he felt like he had forgotten something important?
He knew what he missed, he simply didn’t want to admit that.
However, when it was actually his time to leave, he didn’t go immediately to their meeting point, he only sent someone to tell them that he would go to the harbor with a portal.
Iris didn’t want to use the portal, because she wanted to enjoy their journey to the harbor. They didn’t know when they would return, or if they would have a chance to comeback at all, thus she wanted to cherish the moment.
And this time, Lou used a portal to appear in Nala’s bedroom. She was sleeping. He stared at her for a while, thinking of what to do.
It seemed, his mind worked harder than usual.
==============================
After the festivities, Nala was very tired, this pregnancy was rather hard on her, because she constantly felt exhausted and sleepy. More so, she was alone. She didn’t really have friend, only a few people that she used to talk here and there, thus she endured everything alone.
However, when she woke up, she felt there was something different. There was something not right. She felt like the bed was swayed.
"Hm?" Nala felt the motion for a moment, thinking that she was still sleeping and this was a dream, but it felt very real. She could hear someone talked in the distance.
Despite still sleepy, Nala forced herself to open her eyes and she screeched when she saw this was not the room she stayed in.
"What happened?!" Lou barged in when he heard Nala was screaming. "What is it?"
"Huh?" Nala furrowed her brows. Her thought of being kidnapped disappeared. The sight of him was enough to give her a sense of relief and safety. "Where am I?"
"In a ship."
"What? Ship?" Nala felt like her brain didn’t work properly. "How can I be in a ship?"
"I took you here with a portal when you were sleeping."
Lou didn’t think straight. He knew that he had to make a decision. He had to leave, but he couldn’t shake this missing feeling, as if he forgot something, thus he carried her here, thinking that she was the missing ’thing’. He was right though.
"Did you just kidnap me?!" Nala was in disbelieve. She wanted to go with him, but not in this way!
"How can I kidnap you when you are mine to begin with?" Lou looked at Nala innocently. "Don’t have a strange idea." He flicked her forehead. "What I meant is; you are mine, just like the property in the capital city, the ship that I owned, also..."
Lou didn’t get to finish his sentence when Nala threw a pillow at him.
"Hey! Is the pregnancy turned you into a violent person?"
"Go to hell, Lou!"
"I am going to take you with me if I have to go there."
Nala was speechless. She didn’t know what to do with this merchant. But then she gasped sharply and placed her hand on her stomach.
"What is it? What happened?" Lou approached Nala. "There is no healer here, don’t get sick. Oh, there is Iris though..."
Nala ignored him, as she caressed her belly.
"What is it?" Lou asked again, impatient.
"I think the baby is kicking me," Nala said, unsure because it happened so fast.
"Are you sure that thing is moving? Not you who is hungry?"
Nala glared at him. "Stop calling the baby with that ’thing’! This is our child!"
"Okay! Okay..." Lou raised both of his arms, but then Nala made that face again. "What is it? That... the baby kicked you again?"
"Do you want to feel it?"
Lou looked hesitated. He was still hesitated to grasp the concept that he was going to be a father, but Nala took the initiative to take his hand and place it over her belly.
"Can you feel that?" Nala was excited. She didn’t imagine she would feel the first movement of her baby with Lou by her side.
Lou widened his eyes. "Should I kick the baby back?"
"Lou!" Nala got the pillow and started hitting him.
"I am just joking! I am just joking! Stop hitting me!"
