The Ace Sniper Wife-Chapter 267: Episode 034 Fear of Fighting Against Groups (4)
Nigel Ferguson had been overexcited just now, his mind entirely consumed by his brush with death the day before. However, now that things were nearly resolved, he reminded himself that Yvonne Watson, who always accompanied Flossie Wright, was nowhere to be seen, which was quite peculiar.
Hadn’t she confessed her feelings to him via text message just two days ago?
Pausing her steps for a moment, Flossie swiveled her head slightly to speak bluntly, "The message was sent wrongly. She won’t be coming anymore."
With her words said, Flossie no longer lingered and walked out of the Vegetable Market, along the path that had led her there.
There was no need for her to cover for Yvonne Watson. As opposed to Yvonne’s timid, hesitant nature, Flossie preferred the impulsive, courageous character of Nigel who had the courage to face his own feelings and fight for love head-on.
Love was not enough to destroy a person. On the other hand, if Yvonne continued to lie, it would be enough to drive Nigel mad.
Without a doubt, upon hearing Flossie’s words, Nigel was frozen on the spot, with a shocked expression as if something inside him had completely crumbled.
He had been under the impression that his persistence was finally paying off, that he was finally being reciprocated...
But, the message was sent wrongly?
Moreover, the person that he had been longing for wouldn’t appear anymore in the future.
Like a man struck by a thunderbolt, in this early morning, his good mood was shattered in an instant.
"Young master Nigel, are you buying it or not?"
Unaware of when it happened, the thought of the vegetable vendor beside him snapped him back to reality.
He stared blankly ahead, only then realizing what he should do next. After giving it some thought, he nodded stiffly, beginning to purchase food for Flossie mechanically. However, the sullen and depressed aura he emitted from start to finish frightened the vendors, making them feel like he could topple their stalls at any moment.
...
Even though someone was helping out with the purchases, training still continued.
Nathan Foster was harshly criticized by the Brigadier the whole night and recorded a demerit. But with Glenn Hutchinson intervening, and Flossie being generous, the Brigadier did not revoke his Instructor’s post in the end, even though punishment was unavoidable.
Life seemed to be getting back on track. The intensity of the new recruit training increased significantly, leaving no one with leisure thoughts to bother about the two troublemakers in the squad, let alone stir up trouble with them. They could hardly spare the time to sleep, let alone care about others.
In the meantime, Agnes Parker’s squad received special attention from Nathan Foster.
Rumor has it that the squad was caught selling steamed buns illicitly in the dormitory by the Inspector. Originally, the Inspector didn’t take it very seriously, but they confessed everything about stealing food from the kitchen out of guilt.
The incident was blown out of proportion. The Inspector certainly couldn’t handle it single-handedly, thus informing Nathan Foster to take care of it. At that moment, Nathan had just been harshly scolded by the Brigadier and was in a terrible mood. This incident was just the icing on the cake, and he instantly berated the squad on the spot.
Given the current situation, Nathan couldn’t explicitly punish them, making their squad an object of his focused attention. Whenever there was rigorous training, their squad was always forced to go first.
And, everyone in that squad believed that Flossie was a whistleblower, causing their illicit activities to be exposed. Therefore, they blamed Flossie for everything, leaving her to take the fall unreasonably. Moreover, wherever she went, she would be met with their scrutinizing gaze. If it wasn’t for Flossie’s strong mental fortitude, ignoring them completely, anyone else being glared at so intensely would start a fight!
