Taming the Hybrid Mate: Desired by Five Alphas-Chapter 220: Dramatic Liara
Andria’s POV
"Enough," the security guard voiced out firmly, inducing a suffocating moment of silence.
Liara and I matched our glare as if it were a glaring battle.
And the moment the security guard stepped out, and the door clicked shut behind him, that silence shattered like thin glass.
Liara scoffed loudly. "Look at them. Ashwood’s golden pets are thinking they’re too good to sit at a detention table. Welcome to our world."
This wasn’t the cultured sweet Liara, not too long ago, acting like she was born a rogue and owned the world of social misfits.
Felicia folded her arms with a slow, mocking smirk. "Maybe they thought they would get special treatment. Again."
I felt Allison stiffen beside me. Becca inhaled sharply like she was about to say something reckless.
I grabbed her wrist under the table. "Don’t, not yet. They are trying to make you overreact," I whispered to her.
Liara leaned forward, eyes glittering with venom. "Relax, Becca. We don’t bite... unless your friend Aria here asks for it.
You see, she isn’t my friend anymore, and neither are you. You...her... you both chose Allison over me, so I’ll always choose anything in conflict with you two."
I met her gaze, refusing to look away. I wasn’t one to back away.
"You talk too much, Liara, and that’s very surprising, especially since after Jackson," I said quietly.
Her smile twitched. "And you think too highly of yourself."
Allison scraped her chair back sharply. The legs screeched on the floor.
She stood slowly and deliberately until she was toe-to-toe with Liara.
"Oh, I didn’t think highly of myself before," Allison said, voice soft and edged like a freshly sharpened blade. "But compared to you? I’m royalty."
Liara rose immediately, almost knocking her own chair down.
The air between them crackled with tension.
Becca shot up too, flicking her hair back with unnecessary drama.
"Royalty? Please. You don’t just get up and claim royalty. I’m the only daughter my father had, and, as I recall, he is the Alpha king.
Your dad is just in charge of a stronghold in the kingdom that my father rules. But I’ll give it to you, you are part nobility, but don’t compare yourself to me, silly," Liara replied, rolling her eyes.
"And to you, Becca, you are a low-life wolf with nothing to write home about."
Felicia laughed. "She doesn’t have an ego. Just an inflated reputation built on Aria’s scraps."
Becca’s chair flew backwards as she lunged forward, planting herself right in front of Felicia.
"Oh, say it again," Becca hissed. "I dare you. Open that mouth again, Felicia. Let me give you a reason to be in detention permanently."
Felicia stepped closer. "You? Touch me? Becca, be serious. The only thing you’ve ever fought is your own appetite. Even as you stand before me, you know how scared you are inside."
Becca’s jaw dropped. "Excuse me...?"
"Enough," I muttered, standing too. My pulse throbbed in my temples. "Everyone shut up. I mean, look around, we are in detention, and here we are starting more trouble."
But they didn’t even hear me.
Allison and Liara were nose-to-nose.
Becca and Felicia were practically breathing into each other’s faces.
Liara pushed Allison lightly, daring her to touch her. But Allison didn’t move.
She smiled, staring down at Liara, and it dawned on me that she was slightly taller than Liara.
"Oh, I’ve been waiting," Allison whispered. "Please...Please give me a reason to slap off that royalty smirk from your face.
I don’t know how a princess acts too low for her status, hanging around with a rogue who claims to be her mate. The sooner you open your eyes and find out that you are living a lie, the better for you."
Liara’s nostrils flared. "Oh, come off it, you jealous fake ex."
"Oh, really?" Allison murmured.
Felicia shoved Becca with her shoulder. Becca pushed back twice as hard.
"Touch me again," Becca warned, voice shaking. "One more time."
Felicia took a threatening step closer. "Or what?"
Becca didn’t move; she stood firm, facing Felicia. For once, she didn’t look dramatic or goofy; she looked ready to fight.
"Try me," she whispered.
I stepped between them before someone got slammed into a wall.
"Enough!" I snapped, louder this time. "All of you, you haven’t been listening to me."
They ignored me.
Liara rolled her eyes. "Look at you, Aria, acting like a leader. Cute."
"It’s called discipline," I shot back. "Something you clearly lack."
Felicia laughed humorlessly. "Oh, please. Discipline, but here you are, in detention, a place for the indisciplined.
"Say that again," I said slowly.
Felicia shrugged. "Which part? The one about your lack of leadership or the part where..."
"Well, just shut up, because it’s just nonsense that you are about to spew, since you know nothing but what you are told. I can’t be bantering with a brainwashed." I cut in.
Allison exhaled shakily. "If the guard comes back and sees us like this, we’re done. So I suggest we stay in our lane since we don’t like each other."
There was a deafening silence, and everyone stared each other down.
Liara smirked. "Oh, look, the self-appointed commander has spoken. I wonder when she became the security guards’ spokesperson"
Allison didn’t even look at her. "Liara, just shut up. I wonder if you could give things a break. You used to be chill, but now, you are a bundle of disgusting chaos."
Liara’s smirk fell.
Felicia scoffed and turned away, flicking her hair like a petulant princess.
Becca muttered, "Stupid troll."
Felicia snapped back. "Starved puppy."
Becca shouted, "Say that again! SAY IT!"
Felicia grabbed the edge of the table. "Starved...Puppy."
Becca slammed her palms onto the table so hard the plates rattled.
That was it. Everyone erupted again.
"All of you are insufferable..." I growled.
"Talk to yourself," Felicia shot back.
"Keep my name out of your rotten mouth!" Becca snarled.
Liara pointed at me. "It’s always her! Aria is the common denominator."
"Oh, please," I snapped.
"You think you are untouchable."
"You talk too much, Liara," Allison intervened.
"I will break your face," Felicia shouted at Becca.
"And I’ll ruin your life. A life you don’t even have yet, fighting a battle that’s not yours, now look where it landed you." Becca yelled back.
"You couldn’t ruin a nap," Felicia scoffed.
"A nap is more precious than you are," Becca shrieked.
"You’re all loud," I muttered.
"YOU TOO!" Becca and Allison yelled at me at the same time. I threw my hands in the air, knowing that I might have crossed a boundary.
Before I could respond, the cafeteria door slammed open.
We all froze mid-argument.
The guard stood there, stunned, face reddening with anger.
"What in the world do you all think you are doing?!"
Becca jerked her hand away from Felicia’s shirt. Liara and Allison stepped apart.
Felicia tilted her chin like she hadn’t been mid-brawl.
The guard inhaled like he was about to give us a scolding lecture, but then footsteps echoed behind him.
I knew those footsteps so well. The aura that came with it, the mate bond pulling me, and my heart slamming against my chest.
I bit my lips, and just then, Sir Kaelric walked in.
The temperature in the room dropped instantly.
Liara stiffened like she had been drenched in frost, suddenly wearing the mask of a wounded princess, a damsel in disguise.
I never knew Liara could act so well, pulling out different roles for different situations.
Felicia’s eyes widened, fear slicing through her mask of arrogance.
Becca blinked, a slight look of relief grazing her features. Allison didn’t appear as if she had noticed anyone had stepped in, except for the fact that she was quiet.
I was breathing hard, getting my mind prepared for questions and lectures. His scent filled my nostrils, tugging at my core.
I missed him, although I knew this wasn’t the time to think about that.
His eyes swept across the room sharply, nodding his head slowly, as he scanned every detail in the room: the overturned chair, displaced plates, every one of us, one after the other.
Then slowly, his gaze settled on me. My heartbeat jolted, and I found myself shifting my gaze from him.
He walked closer to me, pulled my face to face him, studied my gaze for a while, and then pulled off his hands, crossing his arms.
"Well," he said, his voice calm, but there was a hint of irritation and suppressed anger in it. "It appears I arrived at the perfect time."
Liara swallowed hard, giving off puppy eyes. In contrast, Felicia looked like she was about to pass urine on herself.
Becca pulled her shoulders back, adjusting herself slowly, and trying to look more composed in comparison to how she looked a few minutes ago. Allison raised a brow lazily.
Kaelric had that effect on students, and no one wanted to be on his bad side, not even Liara, his cousin.
Kaelric stepped further into the room.
"Let’s see," he murmured, eyes narrowing just slightly. "Who wants to explain why detention turned into a battlefield?"
His gaze landed squarely on me again.
