Lewd King's Bucket List-Chapter 66: Class
Se’van retained a pleasant look as she waited for the motley crew to finally settle down. Then she continued her lecture.
"Class is both a measure of an Aspect’s power and potential Aether capacity. There are seven levels we use to classify each group; however, there is still a hierarchy within each group. Even if two are of the same Class, their abilities may not be equal. Of course, such cases are hard to judge because of their subjective nature."
Se’van paused for a second, slowly marching back and forth at the front of the room.
"For Flesh Constructs, these seven levels are: Orthodox, Prime, Absolute, Paragon, Consecrated, Seraph, Virtue."
She stopped in front of Runa’s desk, who was front and center.
"Aether Constructs follow the same protocol, but under different titles: Aberrant, Mutant, Monster, Wretch, Anathema, Demon, Vice. Questions?"
Runa tilted her head slightly, then asked:
"What Class are you?"
The jester laughed.
"Oh! How bold!"
Ixion added:
"Truly! How audacious of my star maid!"
The parrot chirped:
"Fuck you!"
The cat looked back toward the two.
"Huh?"
Se’van waved her hand again, the after-trail still in effect.
"It’s usually seen as improper to ask one’s Class. Sadly, that practice came about to protect oneself." Sevan cast a sidelong glance at her king. "Never know who or where your enemies may be."
Se’van turned and walked back behind the lectern, displaying her ability by leaving colorful afterimages in her wake.
"But, since everyone in this room already knows, save for you, I see no point in hiding mine. My Class is Paragon."
Runa’s eyes widened slightly.
"So, you’re quite strong?"
Se’van chuckled lightly.
"Paragons are known to be quite strong, but compared to the average fighter, I’d be quite weak for my Class. In terms of raw power."
Se’van finally stopped holding back her Aspect, letting it bloom.
A myriad of colors burst, blinding the room. After the light settled, three Se’van’s remained.
The three emerald-eyed beauties talked at once, their voices coming from all directions.
"One’s Aspect, main ability, typically caters to utility, combat, or support."
Then, two of them went quiet as they walked to different parts of the room, each leaving colorful afterimages. One in the middle of the desks and the remaining two on either side.
A smile crept on Ixion’s face.
’Her power is so beautiful!’
The one on the left spoke.
"Mine allows me to create clones of myself. Though these clones are illusions, not physical ones . That doesn’t mean they’re anywhere close to useless, however. Not only can they confuse."
The one on the right continued:
"They can explode at my will, blinding and burning those within my radius. And each can use the Trait I’ve displayed, further adding to the confusion."
The one in the middle stopped next to Runa, put a hand on her shoulder, and said:
"My Aspect may not increase my physical power at all, but its utility makes up for it."
Runa looked back at her. As she did, a fourth Se’van, the original one, undid her Trait [Cloak of Light] and put her hand on Runa’s other shoulder.
"You can’t defend against what you can’t see coming."
Runa shivered as the purple-haired woman laughed, recalling her clones. She began walking back to the front of the room while casting a glance over her shoulder at Runa.
"Any more questions?"
The spooked cat shook her head.
Ixion once again knew exactly what she was thinking...
’She finally thought she’d found someone normal! Not wickedly powerful or wickedly weird. Ha! Se’van is anything but! She’s weirder than me!’
And she was quite useful back when she was a Royal Assassin.
Se’van stood behind the lectern again and continued:
"Next is Rank..."
Se’van’s expression tightened for a moment.
"Rank is much more important than Class in terms of power. It is the path of power that all those who’ve awakened their Aspect follow. The seven Ranks are: Nascent, Emergent, Bloomed, Elevated, Boundless, Numinous, Empyreal."
Se’van smiled as she fished her hand into a hidden pocket of her dress and pulled out a stone.
"To advance in Rank one needs to saturate their Aether Core. Your Soul Scripture dictates the amount you’ll need."
Se’van unceremoniously tossed the stone to Runa. Runa easily caught it and overlooked the iridescent shard.
Something all merchants were quite familiar with, as it was a high-demand product, so Se’van didn’t need to explain such a thing.
"Once they saturate it, they need to find a greater harmony between soul and body. Aside from a tether to the world. While it may sound nonsensical, that’s because each person’s path is unique. So, I cannot describe one correct way. Finding your path is up to you."
She pointed to the shard.
"Merely wish to absorb it and crush it."
Runa hesitated for a moment, then did as told.
As her fingers tightened around the crystal, it mushed like a clump of wet sand being broken. The cat’s green eyes widened slightly as she watched the glowing particles seep into her skin.
That small portion of Aether was flowing through her veins.
Se’van let off a quiet clap, then said:
"See? Easy. And now, having felt Aether, it would be best for us to move on to reading Soul Scripture."
Se’van began explaining how to read the flow of Aether.
By meditating and focusing on your Aether Core. Then, eventually, you’d be able to sense the liquid-like substance as it flowed through your body like blood.
Once becoming aware. The next step was learning to control and direct that Aether.
Finally, once one was able to move their Aether around their body at will, they had to close their eyes, make a clump flow through their brain, then carry that same clump to the back of their eyelids.
There, words would imprint themselves in her mind, explaining her ability. Each with a description.
Although she was more proficient at controlling her Aether, Runa’s Soul Scripture would be quite fragmented.
Not to mention that it would take several weeks for her to learn how to sense and control Aether.
Thankfully, she’d have daily lessons with Se’van, starting tomorrow.
Lessons that Ixion and the others had been ’banned’ from attending, so they didn’t distract her.
