Tale of the Red Dragon Without Dragon's Might-Chapter 17 - Scrap
Chapter 17: Chapter 17 Scrap
"Why did you steal my things?"
Hearing Mother Dragon's words suddenly, Leon was indeed stunned, but soon realized there must be a reason behind it.
It must be that damned Salovis framing him after stealing things.
Thinking further, it was likely that Salovis couldn't resist stealing Mother Dragon's Gold Coin, and for a Dragon, especially a Red Dragon who values their treasure more than anything, even their own children are not an exception.
This is the trust of a brother towards his sister.
"I didn't steal your things," Leon said, looking straight at Mother Dragon, standing upright and fearless.
Something seemed off. Following Mother Dragon's gaze, he suddenly realized that she was looking at the trophies he had just gathered and instantly understood why she had said that... He had wronged his sister.
"These are my trophies," Leon said, gazing down at the items he just sorted out.
He wasn't a real Dragon; he didn't actually care about those things; what he cared about was — I can give them to you, but you cannot take them by force.
"This is my territory, everything within this land is mine," Mother Dragon circled around, slowly landed on the ground, her massive body skewing the large trees and crushing the small ones.
Her head moved close to Leon, hot breath from her nostrils touching the face of the baby dragon as she continued, "Including you... you are mine too."
Leon tightly pursed his lips, expressionless.
"A little bug makes you so hurt, are you really my offspring?" Mother Dragon continued.
Leon really wanted to explain that he was just a few months old baby dragon and his opponent was an experienced Ranger; his victory was all thanks to Golden Finger, otherwise, Salovis would have been gone by now.
Leon had thought of bringing up Edwin to taunt Mother Dragon, asking why such a mighty figure stumbled so badly with Edwin.
Although he still didn't know what had happened, he heard from Salovis that Mother Dragon would wake up in the middle of the night, roaring Edwin's name repeatedly.
"To hit a person, don't hit the face," bringing up Edwin was absolutely off-limits, and Leon was very clear about that.
"When you leave my territory, when you leave my protection, then you can think properly about accumulating wealth," Mother Dragon reached out her claw, focusing on a dagger among the trophies, "Ha, there's even a Magic Weapon, worth a few coins."
Mother Dragon grabbed Leon's packed trophies contentedly, pushed with her legs, then flapped her wings lightly and easily flew away, adding, "And don't forget you still owe me a million Gold Coin."
A million Gold Coin, you really dare to say, selling you wouldn't even fetch that much. Leon thought to himself that an 800-year-old Ancient Dragon might have ten or eight treasure spots, all worth maybe two hundred thousand together, and even if the treasury expanded after becoming an Ancient Dragon, it might eventually reach a million.
Thinking this, Leon spat in frustration as he watched Mother Dragon's fading silhouette.
Feeling upset, Leon swung his sword through the air several times, looked at the sword, sighed in relief that it wasn't gathered with the other trophies, so it wasn't stolen by Mother Dragon... This sword was soul-bound to him, even if taken by Mother Dragon, it wouldn't matter as it would return with a flick of his hand.
Leon truly vented his feelings, feeling much lighter, and then slowly returned to the den.
Waking up, Leon suddenly worried about the safety of his nest, recalling what had happened before sleep. He had been lucky before, but now it proved that even the Mother Dragon's territory was not safe.
But then again, he was just a baby dragon, with a height at the shoulder not even reaching a Human's thigh, and the nest he dug was not accessible to humans unless they crawled in like a dog, but what fighting capability would remain then? He felt relieved in an instant.
Maybe as compensation for a day's misfortune, in the afternoon when he went out to hunt, Leon luckily spotted a wild boar, immobilized it from a distance with an immobilization spell, then pounced and bit through the boar's spine to finish it off.
The boar wasn't large; large boars often weighed hundreds of kilograms and weren't easy to deal with without experience, but it was enough for him to eat for two days. The only worry was whether the hot weather would spoil it quickly.

Just as he dragged the boar back to the nest, Leon saw Dragon Sister.
"How did you know I hadn't eaten yet?" Salovis joyfully pounced on Leon's prey, ready to relish it.
"How do you always arrive at such coincidental times?" Leon roared, pressing on the boar's belly, "This is mine."
"Don't be so stingy." Dragon Sister said, "I want to eat it anyway."
Although Dragon Sister was disrespectful and had a terrible temper, she was after all his little sister. Leon really couldn't bring himself to fall out over a little bit of food, so he let her have her way. Today truly seemed cursed by their mischievous mother and daughter duo.
Dragon Sister's appetite was not small; she ate a lot of the boar Leon brought back. Thankfully, he didn't have to worry about the meat spoiling, as it would definitely be finished by tomorrow.
It's worth mentioning that before eating the boar, Dragon Sister liked to cook it with her Flame Breath, which made Leon somewhat jealous since he still couldn't use Flame Breath. The grass is always greener on the other side.
"I heard from Mother that you were attacked?" Salovis announced, her tongue licking meat scraps from her lips.
"Yes."
"I heard Mother saved you."
"Shameless." Leon said bluntly, "Both she and you are."
"You're saying Mother is shameless? I'm going to tell Mother."
"Go ahead. You shameful tattletale."
"What exactly happened?" Salovis eyed the wounds on Leon's body, suddenly flashing a mouth full of sharp white teeth, "You're no match for me now."
"You're welcome to try."
The two baby dragons didn't end up fighting, and after eating her fill, Dragon Sister left. Leon was left to ponder who his attacker might have been—whether a normal adventurer or a specialized Dragon Slayer targeting him and Salovis.
Meanwhile, he started to consider one thing—if Mother Dragon could no longer protect him, perhaps it would be better to leave? But then again, where could he go?
From that day on, Leon became much more alert, always paying attention to his surroundings, looking around warily even when eating, avoiding idling outside, and faithfully staying inside his cave.
As a Red Dragon with a long life ahead, he had plenty of time. He could survive the vulnerable baby dragon and young dragon phases... it wouldn't be too late to adventure once he was a young dragon capable of protecting himself.
Little did he know, today's events were just the beginning, the storm was just arriving, and he was right at its center.
