System: Master Your Life-Chapter 579 - 143: Chi Linyue and Ning Yuhuan’s First Encounter (Part 2)
Seeing Chi Linyue greet them.
Xu Lin pulled Ning Yuhuan and walked over.
Xu Lin could clearly feel Ning Yuhuan becoming a bit nervous.
"Don’t worry, just treat her like an older sister."
"Okay."
"What’s your name?"
As they approached Chi Linyue, the elder sister couldn’t help but ask.
Earlier, the distance made it hard for Chi Linyue to see clearly, but now with Ning Yuhuan up close, Chi Linyue found this girl truly stunning.
Innocent, pure, gentle, without scheming...
This was the impression Ning Yuhuan gave Chi Linyue.
Can one tell if a person is scheming? Of course. For those who’ve mingled well, the so-called experts, they encounter all kinds of people every day—good ones, bad ones, and everything in between. Just by the way you touch your nose, they can discern your character.
"Ning Yuhuan."
Ning Yuhuan felt a bit anxious. Chi Linyue gave her the impression of being exquisitely beautiful and very elegant. She had never been in contact with such a person before. After all, students stuck in the ivory tower of school, especially those from ordinary families, tend to lead routine lives post-graduation, reaching mid-level in society is already a commendable achievement. 𝚏𝗿𝗲𝐞𝚠𝕖𝐛𝗻𝗼𝐯𝕖𝚕.𝚌𝗼𝗺
Hence, the chances of them meeting truly exceptional people in their lifetime are slim.
To Ning Yuhuan, Chi Linyue seemed transcendent. Just one look at Chi Linyue and she knew this woman was extraordinary; her noble aura outshone every woman Ning Yuhuan had ever met.
Xu Lin, standing by, said, "The ’Yu’ as in pure and chaste, and ’Huan’ as in embracing the ancient and the present."
"The great writer speaks with idioms!"
"Overpraised."
Xu Lin chuckled.
"Then I’ll call you Hanhan from now on."
Chi Linyue pulled Ning Yuhuan aside.
At a square table, the two girls sat together, Xu Lin oppositely.
"Your boyfriend is my honorary brother, so you can call me sister."
Chi Linyue smiled lightly.
"Oh, okay, hello sister!"
Ning Yuhuan was still apprehensive, akin to meeting Xu Lin’s elders, so it would be strange not to be nervous.
"Tell sister, how did you meet my brother?"
"We met at the start of last semester, and I confessed to him afterward."
"You confessed first?"
"Yes, I was the one who confessed."
"Haha, so what about my brother? Did he agree then?"
"Uh, he agreed."
Chi Linyue glanced at Xu Lin, who was casually sipping tea across the table, and gave him a glare.
However, Chi Linyue glared because Xu Lin was so indiscriminate—when Ning Yuhuan confessed, he agreed without much thought, embodying an open-door policy.
Xu Lin shrugged, continued sipping tea silently, maintaining an air of nonchalance.
The two girls before him were both important to Xu Lin, yet he wasn’t worried about what Chi Linyue might say; besides, the elder sister wasn’t so petty.
Just then, the waiter arrived.
This place lacked convenient order-by-scan options; the waiter carried a thick menu for Xu Lin and others to flip through.
While Chi Linyue and Ning Yuhuan chatted, Xu Lin was responsible for ordering.
Xu Lin wasn’t fussy about ordering and quickly wrapped it up.
Five dishes and a soup; he also ordered the imported wild king crab he wanted.
After ordering, Xu Lin continued enjoying his tea, while Chi Linyue and Ning Yuhuan chatted opposite, mostly with Chi Linyue asking and Ning Yuhuan answering, akin to meeting parents for the first time.
As for Chi Linyue, the elder sister was also very smart.
There’s a saying, if you find yourself having a great conversation with someone far more accomplished than you, it’s not because you’re outstanding or overly emotive, it’s because the accomplished person is accommodating you.
The elder sister was just like that now.
The elder sister was understanding, and after chatting with Ning Yuhuan for a while, Chi Linyue realized this girl’s background wasn’t exceptional. There was a hint of insecurity in her bones; urban children usually wouldn’t be like this as their exposure from childhood typically broadens their vision, instilling more confidence.
Just as if you come from a big city, barring unusual circumstances such as physical handicaps or family changes like parental divorce, you are inherently confident. How could a child from a happy, stable economic family be insecure?
Ning Yuhuan was different.
Chi Linyue thought, this girl might be from the countryside, yet she didn’t bear the rural aura, akin to a noble flower rising from the muddy ground.
Her company had several rural-origin employees who seemed confident on the surface but still carried signs of discomfort, as their achievements weren’t enough to quell their inner emotions, at least until they matured further.
Understanding this, Chi Linyue knew how to communicate with Ning Yuhuan.
In a more formal way, Chi Linyue engaged Ning Yuhuan with a worldview and methodology that transcended class limitations, making the conversation comfortable for Ning Yuhuan, even if she wasn’t aware of it. She only felt at ease speaking with Chi Linyue.
Soon, the dishes arrived one after another.
The three of them ate for over an hour.
Later, Ning Yuhuan went to the restroom, leaving Chi Linyue and Xu Lin there.
