System Awakening Era: I Have 10x Skill Effects-Chapter 9: Rare-Tier Airdrop Chest
Not wanting to waste the opportunity, he quickly ran away from the riverside, following the direction where the golden airdrop chest was descending.
Items with Rare-Tier belonged to the category of good items, higher in quality than low, common, or medium.
However, Rare was still the lowest tier among good items such as high, epic, and legendary.
Other survivors might not realize the value of rare-tier items, but because the airdrop chest was glowing gold, everyone would assume it was better than the other airdrops that had fallen today.
Aamon stepped into a narrow street, the place where the rare-tier airdrop chest was likely to have landed.
The closer Aamon got to the location, the slower his steps became. 𝓯𝙧𝙚𝒆𝙬𝙚𝒃𝙣𝙤𝒗𝓮𝓵.𝙘𝙤𝙢
BLAST!
He faintly heard an explosion from the location ahead. Aamon suspected it came from a battle between survivors, since level 1 monsters couldn’t possibly create an explosion that loud.
Aamon entered a four-story building, climbed up to the rooftop, and watched the battle clearly.
The airdrop chest had already landed.
However, several survivors were fighting each other to seize the item. There were ten survivors in total, representing three different groups in the city.
Haven Faction, Black Shade, and the Elite Members of the Army.
It seemed the three factions were truly hostile toward one another.
Haven was fighting Black Shade, while the Army Elite members were fighting both of them.
Even so, neither faction was willing to cooperate against the elite members.
Aamon remained on the rooftop, observing the battle.
He didn’t want to interfere directly.
It would be better if he attacked whoever managed to obtain the airdrop item.
Explosions of magic kept erupting in the area, sending thick smoke into the sky, causing vibrations across the surroundings and spreading the sound of blasts everywhere.
"The airdrop is over there!"
Aamon turned around, looking toward the small street where Lucy and her Haven team were rushing in to help.
They were determined to seize the golden airdrop and prevent Black Shade from obtaining it.
The battle became even fiercer. Aamon began to watch how Lucy fought using her magic staff.
The golden glow from the airdrop suddenly disappeared, leaving the chest in its normal form.
Aamon’s focus sharpened. One of the elite members had managed to touch the chest and take all the items.
"Chase them! Get that item for the boss!" someone from Black Shade shouted.
Their attention locked onto the five elite members.
Those five quickly ran away from the area, and Aamon began moving as well, quietly tailing them.
Fortunately for Aamon, the Haven faction held back the Black Shade members so they couldn’t continue chasing the elites.
For Haven, letting the elite members take the item was far better than letting Black Shade have it.
The five elites glanced back and noticed Black Shade was no longer chasing them. Their pace slowed, though they remained cautious of the worst possibilities.
From inside a narrow alley, Aamon watched them with a sharp and serious gaze.
The Rare item they had obtained had to become his, no matter the risk.
It was the only way for Aamon to grow stronger quickly.
He summoned his sword and rushed out of the alley, surprising the five elite members.
What shocked them even more was that Aamon attacked them while wearing an elite uniform.
SLASH!
Aamon swung his sword, successfully injuring a woman holding a magic staff.
They gasped. Their formation broke apart, panic beginning to spread among them.
"YOU TRAITOR!" one of them shouted.
[Sword Skill: 1000 Swords Movement]
Blue light erupted from Aamon’s body and sword. His skill domain instantly activated, slowing the enemy’s attack movements in Aamon’s perception.
The young man took advantage of it and launched his assault.
His sword swung and stabbed into their bodies while their movements slowed, making it difficult for them to dodge his attacks.
Blood splattered and pooled across the ground.
Three of the five members were already wounded and collapsed weakly on the ground, powerless.
Aamon wasn’t finished.
He still had six more hits to deliver.
His sprint accelerated, his sword swings becoming stronger. None of the elite members managed to hold out.
When the tenth hit landed, blue light flared from the wounds on their bodies, triggering delayed small explosions.
BLAST!
The explosions erupted, worsening their injuries and causing them to lose massive amounts of blood.
None of them could stand anymore to fight Aamon.
"You... why are you attacking us?!"
"I need the item you took," Aamon replied indifferently.
"Just for an item... you killed us."
One by one, the five elite members died with pale faces.
A panel appeared in front of Aamon, displaying several items from their inventories that he could take.
[Congratulations! You obtained items]
[20x Monster Core || 10x Blue Sapphire || 7x Red Sapphire || 15x HP Potions || 1x Helmet Cloth (Low) || 1x Pants Cloth (Low) || 1x Rare Skill Scroll || 1x Rare-Tier Pet]
[+84 EXP || +240 Contribution Points || +240 Coins]
[Congratulations! You have leveled up]
[Name: Aamon Viremont]
[Level: 1 → 2]
[EXP: 559/1000]
[Class: None]
[Contribution Points: 440]
[Attribute Points: 10]
The level increase happened when Aamon killed them.
The EXP was obtained thanks to 10% of the enemy’s total EXP. If the total was only 84 from five people, it clearly proved their EXP was still low.
But setting that aside, leveling up meant he gained attribute points.
Those points could be allocated to increase his basic attributes.
Two items from that airdrop were a Rare-Tier Skill Scroll and a Rare-Tier Pet.
Aamon realized something.
The rare-tier skill might be usable immediately, but not the pet. To unlock the pet menu option, Aamon needed to reach at least level 10.
"Do you want to die?! Don’t block our way!"
"We won’t let you take that item from the elite members!"
He turned his head and clearly heard the shouting from the two factions earlier.
Aamon couldn’t let anyone see him at the murder scene. The Haven faction might come to hate him later.
Aamon slipped back into the alley and forced his way into an empty house.
There were no monsters inside—perfect for hiding.
He climbed to the second floor, entered a room, and closed the window curtains.
"At least I’m safe here. They won’t chase me."
