Chapter 88: Chapter 88: Accident

"No... no need! I can’t drive!" Moira Young was so scared she quickly waved her hand. She didn’t need those cars at all; they were of no use to her.

Just as she spoke, Moira Young saw someone walking behind Heath Sterling. The sinister look in his eyes made Moira shiver, and she had a vague feeling that this person was no good.

"Young Master Sterling, long time no see!" The man patted Heath Sterling’s shoulder, a smile on his lips.

"Yo! Cyril! Long time no see!" Heath Sterling turned around to shake hands.

"And who is this?" Cyril looked at Moira Young, not recognizing her.

"A friend, a friend..." Heath Sterling intentionally said it very subtly. He thought others would understand what he meant, but Cyril didn’t seem to get it.

"Young Master Sterling has such a beautiful friend. Why not introduce her to everyone? If you keep it a secret, people might think she’s your girlfriend!" Cyril shouted, and everyone gathered around, especially those who were in the bar earlier; they couldn’t wait to take a few more glances at Moira Young.

"Come on, introduce her. There are so many single guys here, all eagerly waiting!"

Moira Young’s beautiful brows furrowed slightly. She hated this kind of situation the most. Why couldn’t everyone have a good conversation in their circle of friends? Why did they have to bring her into it? It was none of their business.

"Young Master Sterling, why don’t we make the prize of this race a date with this pretty lady! What do you all think?" With more people, voices became more jumbled, and everyone started to chime in.

Heath Sterling’s face turned a bit unpleasant. He took a step forward to block Moira Young, full of disdain, "A woman of mine, even if I gave her to you, who would dare to ask her out?"

"Didn’t you just say she was a friend! How did she suddenly become your woman! Young Master Sterling! That’s too domineering! Are you giving us a chance at all!"

Moira Young didn’t want to listen to these annoying words for another second. She quietly tugged on Heath Sterling’s sleeve and whispered, "Let’s go."

"It’s fine." Heath Sterling held her hand back, thinking she was scared.

Moira Young instinctively pulled her hand free. She really didn’t want to stay in this situation where everyone was staring at her. If Heath Sterling wouldn’t take her away, she would leave on her own.

Carter Porter was still in the car napping. Moira Young walked through the crowd with an expressionless face and got into the car, sitting next to Carter Porter.

Heath Sterling was momentarily stunned and suddenly felt his hand was empty, without any warmth.

"Young Master Sterling! Embarrassed now, aren’t you?"

"Hahaha!"

The guy called Cyril sneered and then twirled his car key with one hand, the other in his pocket, as he got into his own car.

Heath Sterling’s face twitched, and he cursed Cyril under his breath. Nobody knew what kind of tricks these people had up their sleeves, but they were definitely up to no good.

Heath Sterling got into the car and saw Moira Young had moved from the passenger seat to the back, sitting with Carter Porter. He felt a surge of jealousy. He was already unhappy with the crowd earlier, and now he was particularly enraged.

"Wake the hell up!" Heath Sterling growled at Carter Porter, "Did I bring you here to sleep?"

Carter Porter didn’t react much, but Moira Young was startled and couldn’t help but ask, "What are you doing?"

Heath Sterling’s breathing gradually turned a bit heavy. He turned his body around and gripped the steering wheel tightly, "The race is about to start. If he’s asleep like this, who’ll take care of him later?"

"I’ll watch him, don’t worry about the race."

"You’ll watch him? What’s your relationship with him that you’ll watch him?"

Moira Young looked at Heath Sterling puzzled, her tone cold, "Heath Sterling, are you out of your mind?"

Heath Sterling’s nerves tightened. From Moira Young’s eyes, he realized he had overreacted again. It didn’t matter with others, but the person in front of him was Moira Young...

"I’m sorry." Heath Sterling tried to calm his emotions, "I was worried you’d be tired."

Moira Young didn’t take his anger to heart, just said lightly, "Don’t always throw tantrums like a kid."

As soon as Heath Sterling heard her say he was like a kid, he couldn’t sit still!

"Yes! I throw tantrums like a kid! But that Julian Sinclair is a mature and stable man! He just—"

"Have you said enough?" Moira Young’s cold eyes stared at him intensely, devoid of any emotion.

Heath Sterling was taken aback by this gaze and cursed under his breath, clenching his hand into a fist and using all his strength to slam it against the steering wheel!

The horn honked, and everyone looked over.

"Heath Sterling, aren’t you childish?" Moira Young was truly angry now.

"Moira Young, you can say anything about me, but you can’t say I’m like a child or childish!" Heath Sterling’s eyes were red. He cared the most about Moira Young’s heart having Julian Sinclair, and that Julian Sinclair being a god-like perfect figure.

All his efforts were to one day stand alongside or even surpass Julian Sinclair! That way, he’d feel like he truly deserved Moira Young.

Moira Young stopped talking. She didn’t understand why Heath Sterling was like this.

Logically speaking, shouldn’t she be the one who’s mad?

The whistle for entering the arena blew. Moira Young looked out the window. Everyone except the participants got out of their cars, so she opened the door and helped Carter Porter out.

"Focus on the race, don’t get distracted." After saying that, Moira Young closed the car door. She was a bit worried about Heath Sterling. After all, the track here was just city streets, not a professional circuit. If someone suddenly jumped out, and Heath Sterling got distracted, wouldn’t it be dangerous?

Upon hearing that Moira Young was still concerned about him, Heath Sterling’s anger dissipated significantly. One moment he was so angry he wanted to turn around and leave, not compete; the next, he forgot everything and, before entering the arena, specifically opened the window to take a few more looks at Moira Young.

Heath Sterling also regretted what he said earlier, knowing full well that Moira Young cared the most about that person’s name, yet he was still foolish enough to mention it. He really didn’t understand why he did.

He had finally gotten a bit closer to Moira Young and couldn’t afford any more mistakes.

"Moira—wait for me!" Heath Sterling immediately put on a smile, "Think about which car you want; I’ll win and let you choose!"

With that, the countdown began. There were so many cars and no designated track, all bunched together. Moira Young felt it was really unsafe.

She sat on a nearby chair, waking Carter Porter, thinking having an awake person nearby would provide a bit more sense of security.

The whistle for the race blew, and Heath Sterling shot out first. Everyone started cheering. The big screen showed footage taken by drones. Moira Young watched anxiously, her palms sweating.

Time passed minute by minute, and the race seemed normal, with no apparent danger. Heath Sterling’s driving skills were at a national level, so there shouldn’t be any problems.

Except—

A black-and-red car suddenly burst onto the big screen, seemingly trying to squeeze Heath Sterling out.

Moira Young quickly pulled Carter Porter to look at the big screen, "Isn’t Heath Sterling in danger?"

Carter Porter shook his head, becoming a bit more clear-headed, and reassured, "No, you know Heath Sterling’s skills, he—"

"Ah—!"

"Oh my god, something happened!"

Suddenly! The crowd started screaming in panic, everyone showing frantic expressions, and they immediately dispersed, afraid of being implicated.

Moira Young and Carter Porter watched the big screen, faces pale. The black-and-red car was intentionally or unintentionally squeezing Heath Sterling’s car while overtaking. As a result, Heath Sterling’s car scraped against the nearby lampposts multiple times. Because of the high speed, the car door actually caught fire!
