Chapter 86: Chapter 86: Home

Arden University, girls’ dormitory.

When Moira Young opened the door and walked in, she only saw Lisa Webb, whom she didn’t like much lately, so she didn’t greet her.

When Moira Young previously came to school from the Porter family, her things were packed in a single bag. She didn’t have much stuff, so packing was quick.

"You... are leaving?" Lisa Webb turned her head slightly, pushed up her glasses, and asked cautiously.

Moira Young didn’t stop her actions or give a response.

Lisa Webb didn’t say anything else and continued making notes with her pen.

Just as Moira was about to finish packing, Thea Thorne and Paige Quinn came back, carrying several shopping bags. It was obvious they’d been shopping. Paige’s family couldn’t afford all those brand-name items, so it clearly was Thea who paid.

Moira Young suddenly felt like sighing; she smiled slightly. Thea talked about Paige like that, yet Paige was willing to reconcile over a few clothes and cosmetics.

"Where are you going?" Thea put down the bags. "Where did you go yesterday? I heard you just came back in Heath Sterling’s car. What were you doing? Were you with him last night?"

Moira Young put the last few books into the bag without even looking up.

"I’m asking you! Were you with Heath Sterling last night?" Thea was furious. She hated Moira’s detached, aloof attitude the most!

Thea took a step forward and kicked the chair beside Moira, looking fierce and angry. "Are you using your illness as an excuse to gain Heath Sterling’s sympathy and then seduce him? Were you together last night?"

Moira closed the bag and then stood up with an indifferent expression, looking at Thea calmly, "I was with him last night."

Thea was breathing heavily, her eyes red with anger, and she asked through gritted teeth, "What did you do last night?"

Moira was about to say they did nothing, but then she decided to put it differently.

"Isn’t it obvious?"

Thea lost her balance for a moment, catching herself on the ladder of the bed, her chest rising and falling, an indicator of her anger.

She glared fiercely at Moira for a long time without speaking.

"Of course it’s obvious!" Heath Sterling’s voice came from behind the door. He grinned mischievously, poking his head in. "Girls’ dormitory, no entry without permission. May I come in?"

"Please come in!" Paige Quinn’s eyes lit up as she looked at Heath.

"Alright then!" Heath nimbly twisted his body and squeezed in through the door gap.

"How did you get in?" Moira looked at Heath in surprise. The dorm aunt was so strict; even Fiona Rhodes couldn’t get in, so how did he manage?

"There’s no wall that doesn’t have a crack. If I want something, nothing is impossible for me!" Heath said smugly, giving Moira a playful wink. "Enough joking. Have you packed your stuff yet? I’ll help you carry it down."

"All set." Moira pointed to the bag by her feet.

"That’s all?" Heath craned his neck, barely suppressing a laugh, but then he realized why Moira had so few belongings and immediately became serious.

"Alright, I’ll carry it down." Heath was about to pick up the bag on the ground.

"Heath!" Thea stepped forward and kicked the bag, her eyes almost welling up with tears. "How could you two!"

Heath was bewildered. "What?"

"I’m going to tell Aunt Sterling that you and Moira Young spent the night outside! Aunt Sterling hates Moira the most; she’ll definitely be angry!" Thea pouted, ready to take out her phone to call.

"Don’t you dare!" Heath snatched the phone from her hand, speaking in a low, stern voice, "Don’t go too far! Or I won’t be polite!"

"Then tell me, where are you two going?" Thea asked defiantly, her voice almost breaking into a sob.

"None of your business," Heath said disdainfully, tossing the phone back at her. "If you dare to speak ill of Moira to my mom again, I won’t let you off!"

With that, he grabbed the bag, pulled Moira along, and walked out.

Just as they got out the door, they heard the sound of Thea smashing things inside.

Moira’s body stiffened, and Heath felt her reaction, so he slid his hand from her wrist to her hand, holding it tightly.

At first, Moira resisted. She couldn’t stand being touched, but she kept convincing herself that since she chose this path, she had to learn to adapt.

When Heath saw Moira stop struggling after a few attempts, he slowly began to smile, feeling a mix of pride, satisfaction, and unmistakable joy.

At that moment, he clearly felt he was one step closer to Moira.

They got into the car, where Carter Porter was still sitting.

When he saw Heath and Moira coming out, he immediately got out of the car to stop Moira, "Moira, don’t forget you promised to come home for dinner."

"I remember. Is it tonight?"

"Yes, it’s Saturday today. My mom said the meal is almost ready, so we should hurry back."

Moira nodded. Heath placed the bag in the car, then came over to take Moira’s hand, saying, "I’m going too!"

Carter looked in disbelief at their joined hands, stunned, looking back and forth between Moira and Heath, almost stammering, "Are you... together?"

"Isn’t it obvious?" Heath deliberately stretched the last word, looking at Moira when he said it, purposely for her to hear.

Moira, of course, knew what he was referring to and her face flushed red.

Earlier, in the dorm, when she answered Thea, she used this phrase, even though they hadn’t done anything. Yet, it clearly implied they did something.

"Alright then..." Carter gave Moira a strange look. "Are you really together?"

Moira turned her head away, got into the car, and didn’t give a direct answer.

Heath shrugged, raised an eyebrow, "See, we really are together."

"You don’t drive tonight, I’ll drive. After dinner, I’ll take you to a racing event, a friendly match. You’ve always wanted to see one, right?" Heath nudged Carter to signal him inside, "What are you standing there gaping for?"

Carter, lost in thought, said nothing from the time he got in the car until they reached home.

Moira kept trying to reason with herself, staying silent too.

On the other hand, Heath couldn’t keep quiet, especially now that Moira accepted him. He was too happy, talking non-stop the entire way.

When they reached the Porter family home, Carter’s mom came out to greet them, smiling as she approached, but her face darkened as she turned away.

She hadn’t expected Heath to come along, since she always felt he was a bad influence.

"Hello, Aunt," Heath greeted with a smile. He knew Carter’s mom didn’t like him, but he was determined to stay by Moira’s side, not wanting to be apart for even a second.

"Hello, Aunt," Moira also called out.

Carter’s mom took Moira straight to the dining table and sat her down, "Good girl, sit down quickly."

Seeing this, Heath immediately sat down beside Moira. Although Carter’s mom had manners, she couldn’t say anything to Heath, but she gave Carter a reproachful look.

Carter sheepishly sat down next to Heath.
