Sweet Wife So Charming: CEO: Hold Back Your Heart-Chapter 79: Dangerous Situation
The Sinclair family.
Since Julian Sinclair returned from that small company, he had been sitting coldly on the sofa, ignoring Mrs. Miller who had called several times to come eat.
It was already past one o’clock, yet he showed no intention of going to sleep.
The old butler, unable to hold out due to his age, stood behind Julian Sinclair, yawning several times and almost falling asleep while standing.
Julian Sinclair suddenly stood up from the sofa, his finely arched eyebrows furrowed, and with a deep voice said, "Go to Arden University."
The butler was startled by the abrupt sound, his mind muddled for a long time before he managed to get his thoughts back on track.
"Sir, it’s so late, what are you going to Arden University for? Miss must have already gone to bed."
The butler truly didn’t know the reason, Julian Sinclair was behaving oddly today.
"I’m worried." Julian Sinclair couldn’t shake off a feeling of unease, though he didn’t know why; it was just his intuition.
The butler knew he couldn’t persuade him otherwise, so he simply prepared to call the driver, but Julian Sinclair sat in the driver’s seat himself.
"Sir, this late at night, you—"
"You go rest." Julian Sinclair glanced at the butler, knowing he was tired and didn’t want him to follow.
The butler was even more worried, "Sir, this isn’t right, driving alone this late is really not safe!"
Julian Sinclair, losing patience, shot him a cold glare, indicating for him to get out of the car without further delay.
The butler, full of concern, was forced by Julian Sinclair’s gaze to step out of the car, helplessly watching as Julian Sinclair’s car sped away.
——
Near Arden University.
Moira Young dragged her unwell body through two streets, yet still couldn’t find the pharmacy. She was on the verge of giving up when she noticed a lit shop at the corner, rekindling her hope—it had to be the pharmacy.
She approached and found the pharmacy’s doors wide open, but secured with a chained lock inside; the pharmacist seemed to be asleep.
Moira Young knocked on the glass door, but there was no response from inside.
"Is anyone there?" she called out, only to be met with silence.
"Is anyone there—" Moira Young raised her voice.
At that moment, a door to a small storage room opened, and out walked a man in a white coat, wearing a mask, "What do you want?"
"I think I have a fever, want to buy some medicine." Moira Young was somewhat afraid of the man, unsure why.
The man didn’t respond at first but after glancing at Moira Young a few times, he went over, removed the chain, and let Moira Young enter.
"Where’s the medicine for fever and cold?" With shelves filled with rows of medication, Moira Young didn’t know where to start.
The man hesitated, seemingly unfamiliar with the place, then pointed to the left with a poor attitude, "Find it yourself."
Moira Young dared not ask more, she searched herself, took a long time to find it, and then went to pay.
"Hmm! Oomph—!" Suddenly!
There was a muffled hum from someone urgent, coming from that storage room, Moira Young was startled and glanced over there, thinking she might have misheard.
"What are you looking at! Take your medicine and get out!" The man in the white coat seemed irritated, and wouldn’t even take Moira Young’s money as he rushed her out.
"Oomph—!" That sound again!
Moira Young held her breath, acknowledging something was definitely wrong! Recalling how the man seemed off from the start, not knowing the layout of the drugs nor how to charge!
The real pharmacist had to be the one making noise! He must be tied up!
Moira Young’s first instinct was to escape and seek help, but the man noticed her realization and wouldn’t let her leave!
He narrowed his eyes, and at the moment Moira Young was about to step out, he stealthily grabbed her neck from behind, covered her mouth, and dragged her into the small storage room!
Moira Young watched in horror; inside the storage room, a man was tied up, battered and bloody, with limbs bound, and a thick gag in his mouth.
The masked man’s strength was immense, Moira Young’s struggles futile against his sweat-slicked, suffocating grip—a sensation driving her towards madness!
Moira Young had never endured touch from anyone aside from Julian Sinclair, let alone someone pressed so tight against her now! Her pores shrank instantly as if a swarm of ants crawled over her, her body feeling utterly miserable.
The man stuffed her mouth with a cloth and tied her hands and feet, verifying she couldn’t move before standing up.
Moira Young couldn’t make sense of it—was this a robbery or a kidnapping?
If it was robbery, why not just take the money and leave? If it was kidnapping, then for what purpose?
The masked man stopped looking at Moira Young, picked up a thick bat from the side, and walked towards the real pharmacist.
"Oomph! Oomph!" The pharmacist’s eyes, filled with terror and hopelessness as if looking at the devil, watching his impending fate.
Moira Young stood frozen, the memory of being kidnapped over two years ago with Heath Sterling suddenly resurfacing—hauntingly vivid as a nightmare refusing to fade.
"Bang!" A loud noise!
The masked man slammed the thick bat into the pharmacist’s leg!
Moira Young’s heart skipped a beat! Her pupils instantly contracted! Her nerves suddenly snapped!
Over two years ago, Heath Sterling had his leg broken while saving her from assailants, and witnessing this scene suffocated her.
Though unrelated to her, the man was a living soul too... 𝗳𝚛𝗲𝕖𝚠𝚎𝚋𝗻𝗼𝕧𝗲𝐥.𝚌𝚘𝐦
Struck repeatedly with the brutal bat, the gory image made Moira Young tightly shut her eyes, turning her face away, lacking any courage to see more.
The pharmacist, unconscious from the beating, no longer groaned in pain. Yet Moira Young could distinctly hear the sound of the bat hitting the pharmacist’s body.
Terrifying and piercing, like a call from hell.
Time ticked by, and Moira Young, her body tense, gradually numbed and lost sensation.
Her cheeks flushed and burning, her mind dizzy with shock, almost passing out.
"Thud—" A noise of the bat dropping startled Moira Young, opening her eyes to find the masked man seemingly exhausted, breathing heavily, and the pharmacist, apart from a not-too-bloody head, had other parts turning unbearably gruesome.
Feeling nauseous, Moira Young vomited.
The masked man ignored Moira Young, taking a bottle of unknown liquid from a box nearby, opened it, and poured it on the pharmacist’s face without hesitation.
The splashed pharmacist came to, barely holding on to his life.
The masked man pulled out the cloth from the pharmacist’s mouth and said, "What you look like now, the woman will look the same in an hour."
"You... let me go... I won’t... won’t find her again..." The pharmacist, almost lacking strength to speak, sounded as if near death.
The masked man chuckled coldly, then retrieved a can of unknown liquid from a black bag in the corner, which Moira Young assumed would be splashed on the pharmacist again, but it wasn’t.
He deliberately poured the liquid around the pharmacist in a circle without gaps, and on the surrounding boxes. Being a storage room, it was filled with boxes.
Moira Young lost her sense of smell, unable to identify the scent, only knowing it was foul.
The masked man, pouring the last bit of liquid, remembered Moira Young was still there, approaching her.
Moira’s fears surged, she instinctively widened her eyes, scooting backward, accidentally crashing into the rack, pain spreading from her shoulder!
"What bad luck, you just had to get involved." The masked man poured the remaining liquid in half a circle around Moira, having little left.
"Please... let me go... I beg you..." The pharmacist constantly pleaded, using all his strength. Moira Young sensed he was at death’s door; listening only made her feel she was nearing her end too.
