Sweet Wife So Charming: CEO: Hold Back Your Heart-Chapter 45: College
Julian Sinclair escorted her back to the bedroom, but Moira Young held him back, not letting him leave.
"Uncle, you’re not going to the office again, are you?"
"No." Julian Sinclair replied, giving her a reassuring look, "If you don’t want me to go, I won’t go."
"Moira." Only then did Moira Young feel relieved and let go of his hand.
Julian Sinclair was about to leave but suddenly stopped, turning back to look at Moira Young.
"Moira, if one day you found out who your biological father was, would you go look for him?"
Moira Young didn’t hesitate, worriedly looking at his head, "I have no father, you’re everything to me. Uncle, did you hit your head or something?"
Julian Sinclair looked away, "Sleep now, goodnight."
Moira Young watched his departing figure, puzzled, feeling that something was off and the question was odd.
But she was too lazy to think more about it and soon fell into a deep sleep.
Meanwhile, Julian Sinclair’s bedroom was filled with a stifling atmosphere, and he spent a sleepless night.
The next morning.
Moira Young had been quite absent-minded these past few days, not paying attention to the date. It was only when she received a phone call from Carter Porter during breakfast with Julian Sinclair that she realized today was the day the exam results were released.
Carter Porter never really performed well academically; he claimed the college entrance exam was meaningless to him because his mother would do whatever it took to get him into Arden University.
After hanging up, Moira Young suddenly felt tense.
Julian Sinclair noticed the change and asked with concern, "What’s wrong?"
"Uncle, the results are out. I’m afraid to check..." Moira Young recalled how Thea Thorne messed up during the exams and already predicted her scores would definitely not reach Arden University’s threshold.
Julian Sinclair gave Mrs. Miller a look, and she understood.
"Let’s eat first." Julian Sinclair’s voice was somewhat hoarse due to lack of rest.
Moira Young, feeling conflicted, grabbed a slice of bread and stuffed it into her mouth, her mind filled with the image of going to a lesser university and leaving the city; the more she thought about it, the more upset she became.
"Master, I’ve checked the results." Mrs. Miller’s face was beaming.
Moira Young panicked, dropping the bread onto the table, momentarily not daring to breathe out loud.
"How was it?" Julian Sinclair asked.
"Congratulations, Miss Young. Based on previous years’ thresholds for Arden University, you’ve made the cut."
Moira Young’s heart instantly bloomed with joy; although she found it hard to believe, if Mrs. Miller said it was true, then it was wonderful!
"Did I surpass the threshold by much?" Moira Young looked at Mrs. Miller with eager anticipation.
Mrs. Miller hesitated, "Right on the line."
Moira Young froze, the joy vanishing immediately. Barely on the line meant not making it into Arden University...
She felt like crying all of a sudden, and just at this moment, she received a call from an unknown number.
"Moira Young? How did you do? Is it B University or Arden University?" A voice full of schadenfreude came from the other end. Moira Young didn’t initially recognize who it was, but from the tone, she quickly guessed it was Thea Thorne.
How did Thea Thorne get her phone number?
"I’m not familiar with you, don’t call me again." Moira Young didn’t want to waste words with her, hung up straight away; especially at this critical moment, hearing her voice made her inexplicably irritable.
Seeing Moira Young’s mood was continuously low, Julian Sinclair comforted her, "Do you trust Uncle or not? I said you can get in, you’ll get in."
"Yes, Miss Young, you’ll definitely get in." Mrs. Miller also comforted her.
Moira Young knew Julian Sinclair had influence, but she didn’t know his reach extended to affecting college admissions.
"Moira, be good, eat." Julian Sinclair called Mrs. Miller over, "The milk’s cold, bring a hot cup."
"With me here, there’s nothing you want but can’t have." Julian Sinclair’s words were seemingly light but carried a strong resolve.
With those words, Moira Young truly didn’t worry about anything anymore.
