Chapter 408: Chapter 408: Resolve

Joe stopped and said firmly, "No matter what the outcome, I have to give it a try."

"You little brat, why can’t you understand, do you have to lose your job for this? Moira Young is a mess right now, others are staying away, but you insist on getting involved," seeing Joe about to argue, Louis stopped him. "I know, I know, you’re her assistant, but assistants come and go and artists are temporary. Without Moira Young, you can still work elsewhere. If you continue like this..."

"Miller, don’t say any more, I understand all of this, but I just feel Moira shouldn’t suffer such injustice. As her assistant, I should be thinking of her at this time, people have to hold onto something, even if it means being fired, I’ll accept it."

Just as he finished speaking, the manager came out of the office, and Joe quickly went to meet him.

"Manager, manager, please reconsider the company’s decision regarding Moira. Moira has already shifted public opinion, and the outside reputation is all good now. Please reconsider."

The manager raised an eyebrow and looked at Joe out of the corner of his eye.

"You’re Moira Young’s assistant."

Joe nodded, his face full of smiles.

The manager snorted coldly, "Even your boss Lee doesn’t dare say anything, and here you are, just an assistant, with courage."

"Manager, please reconsider, Moira has a lot of potential and can definitely bring great value to the company."

"The decision was made collectively, it wasn’t just up to me. You should hurry up and deliver the message to Moira Young."

Just as the manager was about to pass by Joe, unexpectedly, Joe grabbed the manager’s clothes.

"Manager, don’t go, I haven’t finished, please really reconsider, Moira really has potential; directors who have worked with her say she’s very adaptable, especially Director Marcus Mercer, he..."

"Let go of me, let go, call security, where is security? What are you all doing here? Get him off me!"

The manager shouted while pulling at Joe’s tightly gripped hands on his clothes.

The secretary and Louis quickly stepped in to pull Joe away, but he stubbornly held on, muttering about all the contributions Moira Young had made to the company since her debut.

The struggle went on for one or two minutes before security arrived.

"Quickly, throw this crazy woman out."

A crowd of onlookers gathered to watch the spectacle.

Joe, unable to resist, was dragged away by security, with Louis following out of concern.

"Manager, please reconsider, this really isn’t fair to Moira."

Those nearby watched Joe being dragged away still screaming; some covered their mouths in shock, others looked on with envy, not expecting Moira Young to have such a devoted assistant.

At the front entrance, with a cry, Joe was thrown to the ground.

"Ow, ow, it hurts." Joe sat up halfway, rubbing her backside.

Louis hurried over to help: "See, I told you, now look at you, hurt yourself, didn’t you?"

Joe, full of anger, pushed away Louis’s hand: "Miller, stop with the sarcastic remarks, will you?"

"Okay, okay, I won’t say anything, is that enough?"

"Waa, what’s Moira going to do now?" Thinking about Moira’s situation made Joe even more upset.

Louis rolled his eyes helplessly.

"Miss, please use your brain a little, worry about yourself first, I reckon your job might be over."

No sooner had he finished, Joe burst into tears.

"Sister, sister, enough, I’m not taking this anymore, Mr. Lee, you really are something." Murmuring this, Louis continued, "Does it still hurt? Come on, I’ll take you for coffee."

Joe pouted, this time not arguing, and rubbed her sore backside as she leaned on Louis’s arm, heading to the coffee shop.

"Slow down, my butt hurts."

"Okay, okay, we’ll take it slow."

Meanwhile, in one of the company’s offices.

"Haha, Lee heard everything."

Lee sat on the sofa, expressionless, looking at the executive across from him.

"As for Moira Young, there’s nothing we can do. Even if your assistant caused a scene, even if you plead, it won’t help. If there’s nothing else, get back to work. You manage more than just Moira Young, as an agent, you must adapt to the situation."

Listening to the executive’s greasy tone, Lee’s expression grew darker.

He had come today to advocate for Moira Young, bringing up well-known directors who had planned to collaborate with her, but this bald executive still wouldn’t budge, even showing him a video of Joe’s hysteria.

"Manager, Moira really has..."

"Gary, time’s up, I have other matters, secretary, see him out." The executive directly called his secretary in through an intercom.

Lee pursed his lips, stood with a frown, silently looked at the person across for a moment, placed the prepared file about Moira Young on the executive’s desk, and then turned to leave.

The door closed with a click, as if barring any entry of hope.

"Hmph." The executive picked up the file from the desk and tossed it into the trash bin, "Foolish."

Joe’s affair made such a racket that Moira Young eventually learned about it from other people’s mouth in the company.

"Hey, where are you now?"

Joe glanced at Louis, chuckling awkwardly: "I’m at..."

Moira’s voice was calm: "It doesn’t matter where you are, come to my house right now and bring Lee with you."

Joe was about to speak when Moira abruptly hung up.

"What to do, Moira knows."

Louis shrugged: "This would’ve come out eventually. The three of you might as well sit and discuss. The main thing is to encourage Moira to lighten up."

Joe sighed, considering the situation, and realized there was no other choice. She picked up her phone, called Lee, and parted ways with Louis.

Half an hour later, the three of them sat separately on Moira Young’s living room sofa.

"Can someone explain to me what exactly is going on?" Moira Young crossed her arms, glaring at the two people sitting opposite with downcast eyes. 𝑓𝘳𝑒𝑒𝓌𝘦𝘣𝘯ℴ𝑣𝘦𝑙.𝘤𝑜𝑚

The two exchanged glances, neither willing to speak first.

"Is it so difficult?" Moira’s voice was cold.

Lee sighed, raising his head.

"Moira, here’s the thing, the company decided... decided to let you rest for a while."

"Lee, just say it outright." Moira furrowed her brows, speaking flippantly.

Seeing Lee hesitating, Joe took the initiative: "Moira, the company wants to freeze you. I caused a scene at the company today because of this, I think it’s so unfair to you. Why? What is the company trying to do? None of this is your fault." As she spoke, a hint of tears crept into her voice.

Moira remained calm; she’d already suspected the cause when she saw company employees’ WeChat moments. Her emotions weren’t as turbulent now, for no company decision could deter her passion for acting.
