Sweet Wife So Charming: CEO: Hold Back Your Heart-Chapter 407: Frozen Out
Moira Young smiled politely, opening her mouth to speak: "I apologize for the trouble my situation has caused you all, and for involving others as well. I want to say sorry to everyone first."
After saying that, she gently bent her body.
"Next, I’d like to clarify the matter concerning my cosmetic surgery." As she spoke, the projector beside her showed the photos confirming Moira Young’s hospital visit.
"After the accident before, the doctor did indeed recommend cosmetic surgery; however, I really like my appearance and still insisted on not agreeing. It took a long time to recover." Remembering the time with Julian Sinclair back then, she smiled faintly and continued.
"Everything is documented. I’m not someone who lies."
"Regarding the second matter, about me being adopted." After a pause, she opened her mouth to say, "My adoptive mother is indeed known by everyone as a bar hostess."
As soon as she finished speaking, there was an uproar.
"To me, her profession doesn’t matter. I only know she is my mother, and she worked tirelessly to raise me, never complained a single word for a better education and environment for me."
Moira Young lowered her eyes and smiled softly.
"I think, in most people’s eyes, this profession is contemptible. But how many are forced into this line of work? I’m not asking you to sympathize; I just want you to think from the perspective of being a mother or a child. If someone insults your mother this way, what would you feel?"
After taking a deep breath, she continued: "Whether as an actress or any other identity, I have no regrets about being the daughter of a bar hostess. Instead, I’m grateful; if it weren’t for my mother, I might have starved to death on the streets and wouldn’t be here explaining this to you."
The camera shifted back to Moira Young, who, with a smile and a slight choke in her voice, said to the camera: "Mom, I’m sorry; it’s my fault for not protecting you properly." Pressing her lips together, holding back the tears that wanted to fall, "Mom, I love you. I’m honored to be your daughter."
After speaking, she looked towards the reporters opposite her.
"I’ve explained these two rumors clearly; I hope everyone won’t hurt my family anymore."
For a long time, no one spoke on the stage. Watching the live broadcast, many netizens recalled their own mothers and guilt caused tears to fall.
"Moira, wuwuwu, stay strong."
"Mom is awesome too."
"Sure enough, you can’t follow the trend blindly."
"Open your eyes wide and look closely; this is our Moira, the goddess I like, Moira Young."
"Moira, I remembered my mother, wuwu."
"It’s been a long time since I went home."
"The person upstairs, take me along."
"If someone attacked my family like this, I’d definitely be furious on the spot."
"I’d directly swing a stick at them."
...
Lawyer Reynolds saw the opportunity and stepped forward to take the microphone.
"Hello friends from the media and reporters, I am Miss Young’s lawyer. We have issued lawyer’s letters to the influencers slandering Miss Young, and I hereby sternly declare that slanderers will not be tolerated."
Joe saw the process was complete, stood up, and took two people down from the stage.
The seated reporters exchanged glances, unable to react, truly surprised at Moira Young’s audacity.
Online, praises were overwhelming as the public perception seemed to be improving.
Moira Young turned to Lawyer Reynolds to express gratitude.
"It’s only right."
Smiling, Lawyer Reynolds left first.
"Moira, that’s great, that’s great."
Joe happily hugged her, and after the embrace, they returned to the apartment.
"What, you say they still won’t let Moira attend, why."
In the evening, Joe had just returned to his apartment and received the phone call, shouting angrily.
"Moira Young has already cleared things up; what more does the company want."
"Joe, I can’t decide this; you need to talk to Lee."
Before Joe could speak again, the call was abruptly hung up.
Fuming with rage, Joe went directly to Lee’s home.
"Why are you here now," Lee looked at Joe with confusion.
"Why do you think I’m here, Lee? What does the company want?" Joe was so angry his face turned red.
Ignoring the furious Joe, Lee turned and went inside.
"You know, the company thinks Moira is causing too much trouble and has decided to shelve her for a while." Lee poured a glass of water and handed it to Joe, speaking reluctantly.
"Why, isn’t this the perfect time?" Joe couldn’t understand, "Moira’s troubles are solved; why is the company still holding on? This clearly isn’t Moira’s fault; what do they want!?"
Lee took a sip of coffee, slowly raised his eyes, and lightly admonished, "What do you know."
"Why wouldn’t I understand, the internet is full of positive comments now; Moira cleared her name, yet she’s just going to be shelved? It’s too unfair."
The two argued until Lee said offhandedly, "What can I do? It’s an order from above. Are you brave enough to disobey? If I continue dealing with Moira’s matters, they’ll not only ban her but also me!"
Upon hearing this, Joe instantly hushed and exchanged a look with Lee, both sighing as they sat on the sofa.
Yes, they both wanted to help Moira Young, but alas, they were just employees without any decision-making power.
Lee cast his eyes slightly downward, showing helplessness in his demeanor.
After a while, Joe stood up angrily.
"Anyway, I don’t care, Moira Young has been so good, never made a mistake, why does she have to accept such results and injustice? I want to help her!" After speaking, he headed for the door in a huff.
"Where are you going?" Lee swiftly pulled him back.
Joe turned back: "Lee, don’t interfere."
"Joe, don’t mess around at this critical moment."
"You know it’s a critical moment, so we should strive for Moira Young’s best interests," Joe said with some grievance, "The company is too inhumane; I definitely won’t let this slide."
With a forceful struggle, Joe quickly opened Lee’s door and ran out.
"Hey, Joe, don’t mess around." Lee couldn’t stop him, and he faded out of sight.
Frowning as he closed the door, Lee made a call to his inside sources at the company.
"Keep an eye on Joe these days. If anything seems off, hold him back."
"Yes, Lee."
The next day, Joe tidied up and headed to the company.
"Joe, why are you here?"
Louis, having received Lee’s call beforehand, smiled awkwardly while sticking close to Joe, staying vigilant.
"What are you doing, Louis, don’t block my way."
"Hey, it’s been a couple of days without seeing you, I really missed you. Why don’t we grab a coffee?"
Joe glared at him and continued to walk ahead.
"Coffee? Make sure your excuse matches the time; it’s early morning, who’s going to stick around for coffee with you."
Louis awkwardly scratched his head, seeing they were getting closer to the manager’s office, he quickly blocked Joe, pleading sincerely: "Joe, can we not cause a scene? The company’s decision stands; do you think causing a fuss will retract Moira Young’s shelving decision?"
