Sweet Wife So Charming: CEO: Hold Back Your Heart-Chapter 330: Difficulties
However, seeing the greenish-blue hue beneath Julian Sinclair’s eyes, Moira Young felt a slight twinge in her heart: "Uncle, you’ve been busy for many days. Let’s talk about going out to play later. You should get some sleep first."
Julian Sinclair thought it over several times and finally let out a gentle "Mm," his handsome face full of indulgence.
Indeed, he was very tired recently and needed a good rest. Looking at Moira Young’s sweet smile, he contentedly curled his thin lips and snuggled into the big bed. Soon, his body relaxed, and he fell into a deep sleep.
Moira Young carefully covered him with a blanket, set his phone to silent, and ignored the fans who were bombarding her with messages.
Human nature is just so complex, its unpredictability is frightening.
.......
Inside the apartment.
Annie was hurriedly stuffing clothes into a suitcase, her beautiful face full of panic.
She had thought of the possibility that the matter would be exposed, but she hadn’t expected it to happen so quickly.
The team that had been helping her seemed to have lost its fighting strength all at once, collapsing with no ability to counterattack.
It seems that the current best plan is to escape abroad for a while.
After placing everyday items and her passport properly, Annie lowered her hat, opened the door, and was startled by the people at the doorway, causing her to step back.
The people, looking like police officers, showed their credentials and said officially, "Ms. Adler, you are suspected of malicious defamation. Please come with us."
Annie’s heart tightened, and she forced a smile, speaking softly: "Officer, you must have the wrong person. I didn’t maliciously defame anyone."
The female officer showing the credentials kept her gaze steady: "Ms. Adler, please cooperate with our work. The truth of the matter is not determined by a few words, but we now have ample evidence to arrest you. Please come with us."
"Alright." With a thud, Annie’s suitcase fell to the ground, making a dull sound. She resignedly closed her eyes, "Officer, I will go with you, but can I make a phone call first?"
"Make it quick." The officer urged.
Annie was indeed fast; within two minutes she ended the call and left with the police.
Since Annie was already taken away, Moira Young, as the defamed person, naturally received a notice to go to the police station for a statement.
"Thank you for your cooperation, Ms. Young. That’s all." The policeman responsible for taking her statement smiled warmly, closing his notebook.
Throughout this matter, Moira Young had always been the victim. Her coming in for questioning was merely to obtain more comprehensive evidence. Once the evidence was gathered, she could leave freely.
He spoke while opening the tightly closed door.
Moira Young pressed her lips and didn’t leave immediately. Instead, she asked bashfully: "May I go see Annie?"
Before giving her statement, Moira Young knew Annie had also been brought in. However, their treatments were quite different.
Annie was detained in the police station for malicious defamation, whereas Moira was there to assist in evidence gathering.
Therefore, Moira wanted to understand why Annie’s attitude suddenly changed, despite the concern she saw in her eyes.
With a bit of hope, Moira Young heard the policeman’s hearty laugh: "You may, but don’t stay too long. There is surveillance inside; if anything seems off, you can call us at any time."
"No problem." Moira Young agreed readily.
The policeman led her a few steps to the detention room: "This is it."
"Thank you." Moira Young politely expressed her gratitude before pushing the door open to enter. Annie, dressed in a skirt, was quietly sitting on a chair, her beautiful face showing signs of weariness.
Seeing Moira Young, Annie smiled gently, extra calm: "You’re here?"
Moira Young’s expression was complex, finding the person in front of her both unfamiliar and familiar.
The Annie she remembered was a very confident person; why had she turned into this?
As if seeing her confusion, Annie tugged her lips into a smile and whispered: "I’m sorry, Moira, this whole thing is my fault. No matter what kind words I say now, I cannot make up for the harm I’ve done to you, but I still wish to ask: Will you forgive me?"
She carefully lowered herself, humbling her stance significantly.
By now, nearly everything had settled, and Annie knew that no matter how many reasons or excuses she concocted, or how many schemes she played, it would be to no avail.
She resigned herself.
Annie lowered her head bitterly, while Moira Young remained unmoved, feeling a sense of absurdity.
She examined Annie closely for a moment, couldn’t help but voice her doubt: "Why did you do it? I don’t believe I ever did anything to wrong you?" 𝚏𝗿𝗲𝐞𝐰𝚎𝕓𝐧𝚘𝘃𝗲𝐥.𝐜𝚘𝕞
"No, you didn’t." Annie shook her head, if Moira Young had done something against her, she wouldn’t have hesitated as she did.
Annie glanced up at the surveillance camera in the corner and deliberately moved to a spot outside its view, then, lowering her voice, said: "I’m sorry, my parents’ lives and careers are controlled by him. I couldn’t not do it."
If only she had told Moira Young directly about it back then, perhaps, relying on Julian Sinclair’s influence, everything could have been smoothed over.
But alas, there is no cure for regret in this world.
Seeing her in such a state, Moira Young paused momentarily before turning her head, saying: "I understand; I can forgive you. But from now on, there will be no connection between us."
Moira Young had always been clear about love and hatred. Though she had a good temper, it didn’t mean she would let others trample over her.
Although Annie had her troubles, they weren’t an excuse for doing wrong.
After saying her piece, Moira Young was ready to leave when she heard the soft sound of knees hitting the ground behind her.
Annie’s voice was even softer: "Moira, Zayne Sinclair holds leverage against President Sinclair, and he’s formed an alliance with Fiona Rhodes."
Moira Young paused her steps but did not turn back: "How do you know?"
"I unintentionally overheard Fiona talking on the phone with her father." Annie’s lips moved, her expression mournful, eyes full of deep regret she couldn’t dispel.
She paused before continuing: "Be careful and be prepared. Do whatever you can to avoid falling into any trap."
Annie seemed increasingly humble now, hard to spot any of her past spiritedness.
Moira Young unconsciously pursed her lips, gave a nod, and replied: "Understood. Please stand up; it’s not good to be seen like this."
As soon as the words fell, she hurriedly walked out, leaving Annie sobbing alone on the ground.
Only once she was out of the police station did Moira Young feel somewhat relieved, her mood lifting slightly. But recalling Annie’s words made her frown like a distressed little bundle.
Julian Sinclair, waiting outside, noticed this. His handsome face turned cold, and he asked in a cool voice: "What happened? Did they give you a hard time?"
Julian Sinclair’s immense power and influence were enough to make some commands at such a small police station.
