Sweet Wife So Charming: CEO: Hold Back Your Heart-Chapter 329: Aggrieved
"Annie, are you just going to accept being wronged like this?" someone shouted.
Annie’s expression remained unchanged: "I’m not wronged, I said at the press conference that this was a misunderstanding."
"If it’s a misunderstanding, why is Moira Young still unwilling to come forward? Isn’t this guilt?" The media holding the microphone were aggressive.
Annie explained patiently to each one, and within minutes, most of the crowd had dispersed.
Only then did she turn around and say to a few artists not far away, "It’s okay now, you can go."
Although those artists weren’t particularly famous, they weren’t exactly unknown, at least better than Annie before.
And everyone knows the entertainment industry’s depths.
Everyone witnessed Moira Young’s character, and naturally wouldn’t change their impression because of this matter; rather, it’s Annie...
People were unimpressed by her hypocritical behavior but didn’t show it openly, only responding perfunctorily, "Thanks, but we have an important gig, please don’t block the way."
Annie awkwardly smiled and moved aside, saying nothing more.
Not far away, Joe almost couldn’t help but laugh, it seemed everyone’s eyes were still sharp.
If Annie thought this was enough to earn a good reputation, she’d be sorely mistaken.
Thinking this, Joe quickened his pace, slipping out before Annie could notice and catching a ride away.
Julian Sinclair looked gloomily at the files in front of him, his long fingers unconsciously tapping on the white paper, with an unclear meaning.
These days, he felt a subtle resistance while handling PR for this situation, as if someone was deliberately guiding and fueling the flames from behind.
He had already investigated Annie’s background long ago, it was impossible for her to have that kind of capability, so clearly, someone was using her to manipulate the situation from the shadows.
Sure enough......
Looking at the name on the file, Julian Sinclair’s thin lips suddenly curved into a cold smile as he dialed that number.
Soon, a casual voice came from the other end, "President Sinclair, it’s been a while, are you contacting me because you missed me?"
Though he said this, his tone had no warmth at all, vaguely hinting at sarcasm.
Julian Sinclair, however, seemed not to notice the underlying meaning, his tone indifferent, "Zayne Sinclair, your reach is quite long."
"What reach?" Zayne feigned innocence, "Julian, what are you talking about? I don’t understand a thing."
Though Zayne was Julian’s cousin, their relationship had always been bitter, and with the competition for Sinclair Group’s inheritance, if it were ancient times competing for the throne, it would undoubtedly be life or death.
Zayne chose this time to suddenly act against Moira Young, his intentions were clear.
Other matters might not concern Julian, but Moira Young was the one he cherished deeply...
His sharp brows furrowed suddenly, losing patience for idle chit-chat, he got straight to the point, "Stop this now."
"Why should I?" Zayne refused to back down, fearless, "Aren’t you very capable, Julian? Just a minor media storm, it should be child’s play for you. What? Are you scared now?"
If he had no skills, this matter would continue indefinitely; he had no intention of stopping.
Slightly turning the pen in his hand, Zayne felt triumphant, though the next moment his smile froze uncontrollably as he stood up.
"Gambling debts, women. I have evidence of both. If you don’t want them exposed, stop this." Julian’s voice was cold.
Zayne gritted his teeth, suppressing his anger, "You can’t provoke me, I haven’t done anything, so I have nothing to fear."
Julian ran out of patience, bluntly said, "Secrets only remain if nothing is done. You know I don’t do anything without certainty."
The other side fell silent for a while before speaking, "Fine, but you better keep your promise."
Zayne was indeed wary, knowing his cousin’s methods. If his gambling and womanizing got exposed, with those old-timers in the family, he’d lose a lot of support.
He couldn’t take that risk.
Reluctantly hanging up, Zayne gave off irritable instructions.
Julian’s expression eased slightly. He turned to leave the study and saw the sleepy-eyed Moira Young approaching, her face still marked from sleep.
Seeing him, Moira’s eyes brightened, though she quickly recalled the trouble she’d caused him, her face fell, "Uncle."
She quickly ran over and rushed into Julian’s arms, feeling assured.
In recent days, Moira’s emotions have been unstable. If Julian weren’t there setting aside work to be with her, she’d have definitely lost her composure.
Luckily, Uncle was there.
Moira pursed her red lips and then lifted her small face to ask, "Did you have breakfast?"
"I did." Julian stroked her head gently, "Do you want to go out?"
"I don’t want to go out."
Hearing this, Moira’s eyes showed obvious resistance.
Things had reached this point, she feared she’d actually get pelted with rotten eggs going out now.
While she couldn’t help much now, neither did she want to burden Julian further.
Moira tried to smile lightly, but worry lingered between her eyebrows.
Julian’s heart suddenly felt like it was being pricked, a dense aching, he said softly, "It’s alright, it will be over soon."
Over soon? What does that mean?
Moira blinked her clear eyes, thinking about it and then asking.
Julian feigned mystery, keeping his lips sealed, teasing Moira’s curiosity.
Until that afternoon, the false rumors of Moira bullying seniors and buying online trolls to clear her name took a sharp turn, catching the public off-guard.
Turns out it was all Annie’s self-directed drama, aiming to spark and reclaim her peak fame.
Those who had cursed her most vehemently started swallowing their words and switching sides.
Unaware spectators left comments again, but all turned into words of comfort.
Looking at the refreshing comment section, Moira asked, her eyes sparkling, "Uncle, is this what you meant by it will be over soon?"
She was bubbling with happiness inside, invigorated, her brows and eyes lively.
Indeed, with Uncle around, everything gets resolved easily.
Now Moira even felt Julian’s omnipotence.
Throughout her life, all her troubles had been solved by Julian, no matter what mistakes she made, he always had a solution.
This man is a god!
But seeing the faint dark circles under Julian’s eyes, Moira felt a twinge of pain, "Uncle, you’ve been busy for days, let’s postpone going out, you should rest first."
After some thought, Julian softly agreed, "Mhm," his handsome face filled with fondness.
Indeed, he was too tired recently, needing proper rest. Looking at Moira’s sweet smile, he contentedly curled his lips, nestled into the large bed, soon easing up and falling into a deep sleep.
Moira carefully covered him with a blanket, switched his phone to silent mode, ignoring the overzealous fans’ private messages.
Human nature is so complex, it’s terrifyingly unpredictable.
.......
Inside the apartment.
Annie was hurriedly stuffing clothes into her suitcase, her beautiful face full of panic.
She expected the truth might be exposed but didn’t anticipate it happening so quickly.
The team that supported her seemed to lose all fighting spirit, collapsing without a chance to retaliate.
It seemed the only option was to go abroad temporarily to avoid the storm.
With essentials and passport packed, Annie lowered her hat and opened the door, only to step back startled by the people outside.
Several police officers presented their badges, formally saying, "Ms. Adler, you’re suspected of malicious defamation, please come with us."
Heart tightening, Annie forced a smile, softly saying, "Officers, you must be mistaken, I’ve not committed malicious defamation."
The female officer presenting the badge didn’t flinch, "Ms. Adler, please cooperate with our work. The truth isn’t determined by a few words, but we currently have sufficient evidence to arrest Ms. Adler, please come with us."
"Alright." Annie’s suitcase fell to the ground with a thud, she resignedly closed her eyes, "Officers, I’ll go with you, but before that, can I make a call?"
