Sweet Wife So Charming: CEO: Hold Back Your Heart-Chapter 303: Letting Go
Fiona Rhodes had been searching for a long time but still found nothing.
Did he really not have amnesia? Or was it all just a lie? Fiona Rhodes fell into deep thought, her fingers tapping lightly on the table as her gaze swept across the study, hoping to find some clues.
Just as she was about to reach for the bookshelf, her phone suddenly rang.
The ringtone wasn’t very loud, but in the stillness of the night, it seemed exceptionally piercing.
Startled, she quickly ended the call.
After hanging up, she listened carefully and found no other disturbances, finally letting out a heavy sigh of relief.
Calming herself, she slowly stood up from the desk and walked towards Julian Sinclair’s bookshelf.
The shelves were packed with various books and quite a few folders. She frowned and began searching through them.
But after searching for quite a while, she still found nothing. Just as she was about to give up, her eyes landed on a beautifully crafted small wooden box.
Her eyes flickered, and she instinctively took it down from the shelf.
The little wooden box was exquisitely made, with a delicate yet unique lock hanging on it.
"How do I open this?" Fiona Rhodes murmured to herself, suddenly recalling the golden key she found earlier in Julian Sinclair’s desk drawer.
Could that be the key to the lock?
Without wasting time, she quickly found the small golden key and inserted it into the lock, giving it a gentle twist.
With a click, the golden lock opened.
She beamed with joy, eagerly opening the small box, her eyes immediately drawn to a folded note.
Upon unfolding it, the first few conspicuous red words sent her into ecstasy.
It was Julian Sinclair’s medical record.
She quickly ran to the window, using the moonlight to read the content clearly.
It stated that Julian Sinclair indeed suffered from temporary amnesia, and the possibility of his memory recovering was unknown.
A slow smile spread across Fiona Rhodes’s face, full of glee: heaven never disappoints the determined, she finally found a clue.
She quickly stuffed the medical record into her pocket, restored everything to its original state, and then quietly slipped out of the study, returning to her room.
Once back, she locked herself in the bathroom and directly called her father.
When her father answered, he sounded quite displeased: "Why didn’t you answer when I called earlier?"
"Dear Daddy, guess what I found?" Fiona Rhodes laughed triumphantly.
Her father’s curiosity was piqued by her words: "What made you so happy?"
"Dad, I’m at Julian’s house now, and I can confirm Julian does have amnesia." Fiona Rhodes said, widening her smile, "Do you think if I threaten him with this, he’ll come back to me?"
She believed Julian Sinclair had no choice.
Either she would expose his amnesia to the world, or he would have to make her the Sinclair family’s young mistress. Anyone would choose the latter, right?
But before Fiona Rhodes could finish her dream, her father’s authoritative voice came through the phone: "Come back immediately."
"Come back? Why?" Fiona Rhodes didn’t understand, "I have evidence of his amnesia now. I don’t believe he’ll push me away. Becoming the Sinclair family’s young mistress would be a huge benefit for our family, Dad."
"Julian Sinclair doesn’t have feelings for you, even if you tried everything, he wouldn’t change his mind. Give up on it."
Fiona’s father sighed deeply: "I’ll have your brother book you a ticket, and you must return to me early tomorrow."
"No!" Fiona Rhodes shook her head desperately, "I’m determined to marry him, no matter what. I have to try. Julian does like me; otherwise, he wouldn’t have indulged me for so many years."
"Wake up. He was just using you all along, treating you like a pawn in his game from the beginning. Don’t be foolish, my silly girl." Fiona’s father shook his head in frustration.
As the saying goes, the bystander sees it clearly. As a father, he saw it all too clearly. Julian Sinclair never loved Fiona Rhodes from the start; he just used the Rhodes family’s influence to establish his footing within the Sinclair family.
Now that he’s stabilized, he no longer needs Fiona Rhodes and coldly pushed her aside.
These things Fiona’s father saw clearly, but he didn’t want to be too direct for fear of hurting Fiona Rhodes.
But now, seeing her so obstinate, he had no choice but to shatter her dream.
"Impossible!" Fiona Rhodes immediately refuted him, "Julian loves me; he was always good to me, checking in on me, caring for me, protecting me..."
"Do you know why you haven’t been getting any job offers?" Fiona’s father didn’t want to argue anymore; he wanted to show Fiona Rhodes that Julian Sinclair was not the right man for her through facts. 𝘧𝓇𝑒𝑒𝑤ℯ𝑏𝓃𝘰𝑣ℯ𝘭.𝘤ℴ𝘮
Fiona Rhodes was stunned for a moment, then instinctively asked: "Why."
"Julian Sinclair has already ordered the entire entertainment industry to blacklist you domestically. Even if you stay, you can’t achieve anything."
Despite his firmness, Fiona’s father continued, "He’s been so ruthless to you. Do you really think you can threaten him? What sort of person is Julian Sinclair? He would stop at nothing for the Sinclair family inheritance. Just as he used you, he can destroy you."
"That can’t be true." Fiona Rhodes shook her head vigorously, "I don’t believe Julian would be so heartless. We grew up together; he couldn’t do this to me."
"Silly girl, I’m your dad. Would I lie to you?" Fiona’s father said helplessly, "If you stay in the country, he definitely won’t show you any mercy."
Fiona Rhodes’s face turned slightly cold: "Is all of this true?"
"Do I need to say more about the truth? Haven’t you always known it? You just never wanted to admit it." Fiona Rhodes was never foolish. She understood things, but didn’t want to acknowledge them.
If this time she could let go of Julian Sinclair, she could still be saved.
If she couldn’t let go, then she would really be ruined by Julian Sinclair in this lifetime.
"Think carefully. If you clear your thoughts, come back on your own." Fiona’s father didn’t want to say more; some things she had to resolve herself, and once she figured it out, things would be better.
At dawn.
Having not slept all night, Fiona Rhodes with obvious dark circles under her eyes quietly left the Sinclair residence, taking advantage of Mrs. Miller not having woken up yet.
After over twenty hours of flying, Fiona Rhodes finally set foot on Vesperian soil.
She returned to the Rhodes family, filled with fury and despair.
News of Fiona Rhodes’s return quickly spread. Julian Sinclair’s father heard about it, and his face turned extremely sour.
He immediately called Julian Sinclair, but unfortunately, Julian Sinclair was on a flight back to the country, and the call couldn’t go through.
Fiona’s father understood once he learned Fiona had returned; she must have truly let go of Julian Sinclair.
