Sweet Wife So Charming: CEO: Hold Back Your Heart-Chapter 294: Bungee Jumping
"Uncle, can you stop being angry with me over Aiden? There’s truly nothing between us, I genuinely just see him as an elder."
Julian Sinclair remained silent, making Moira Young think he didn’t believe her words, so she explained once more.
However, the next second, she was embraced by Julian, and his gentle voice whispered in her ear, "Silly girl, I believe you."
"Really?" Moira blinked her big eyes in delight.
"Mm." Though he didn’t express too much emotion, that single word was enough to convey everything.
Speaking out, Moira immediately felt a weight lifted off her shoulders, even the air around seemed much fresher.
Julian spent two days in the hospital before he was discharged.
The first thing he did after leaving was to call Adrian Grant.
Adrian knew he couldn’t escape, so he directly went over to apologize with humility.
"Julian, I admit I was wrong about this matter. That Vivian Grant has been dealt with, and I promise you won’t see her ever again in your lifetime, how about that?"
Adrian looked at Julian with a flattering expression, practically groveling.
Before Julian could speak, Moira interjected, "Brother Adrian, next time, can you choose your companions better? We and Uncle had it pretty rough this time."
"It wasn’t that bad, right?" Adrian mumbled softly, "Nothing major happened in the end, did it?"
"Oh? So you’d prefer something did happen?" Julian looked at him ominously.
The sharp gaze, devoid of warmth, made Adrian’s handsome face turn pale as he quickly waved his hands, "I didn’t mean it that way, don’t misunderstand, don’t misunderstand."
Adrian sighed deeply, "Moira, Brother Adrian was just being foolish for a moment; can’t you forgive me?" Seeing Moira’s stern face, he hurriedly continued to placate, "Moira, how about Brother Adrian gives you a gift as an apology?"
Moira wanted to maintain her aloof demeanor, but her curiosity got the better of her, "What kind of apology gift?"
Seeing a chance, Adrian eagerly pursued, "Moira, you haven’t been on a proper overseas trip, have you?"
"Seems like it..." Moira recalled, noting that her past trips to Vesperia were always for business with Julian, not for fun.
Adrian continued to entice, "Don’t you want to relax and go on a nice vacation with your Uncle?"
Just as Moira was about to speak, Julian’s cold voice interrupted, "Haven’t you traveled abroad enough over the years? If this is your form of apology, it’s unnecessary."
However, Julian didn’t notice how Moira’s brightened eyes quickly dimmed after he spoke.
Just because he didn’t notice doesn’t mean Adrian didn’t either.
Adrian knew well enough that to earn Julian’s forgiveness, Moira was key. Once Moira was on their side, winning over Julian would be a breeze.
"Whether you want to go or not is secondary; what’s important is whether our little Moira wants to go, right, Moira?" Adrian gave Moira a gentle pat on the shoulder, clearly seeing her nod slightly.
Julian smirked with a sarcastic laugh, "Our Moira isn’t so shallow; such mundane pursuits wouldn’t interest her."
"Aren’t you going to ask for Moira’s opinion?" Adrian’s mouth twitched.
"Moira, do you want to go..."
"Yes!"
Before Julian could finish, Moira was nodding rapidly, her eyes wide with eagerness, faster than a pecking chick.
...
The atmosphere grew extremely awkward.
Julian hadn’t expected Moira to be so interested and was momentarily at a loss for words.
Seeing him remain silent, Moira mistook it for disapproval, and gazed at him with pleading eyes, speaking in a soft, kitten-like voice, "Uncle, we can’t go?"
Facing such a mournful tactic, Julian surrendered.
He turned to Adrian, helplessly saying, "Make the arrangements. Give me two days to wrap up my work."
"Don’t worry, I’ll ensure you have a great time," Adrian winked handsomely at him, then made a cheer-up gesture to Moira, "Moira, be ready, we depart in three days at the latest."
Moira nodded firmly, "Understood, I’ll go request leave right now."
Seeing Moira’s high spirits, Julian could only smile wryly; since she wanted to have fun, he’d take her out to have a proper good time.
To accompany Moira well, Julian wrapped up all the work he could in the next two days and postponed anything he couldn’t finish.
In the following days, he wanted to be fully focused on spending time with Moira.
Three days later, Julian and Moira, along with their party, set off from home, arriving after a lengthy flight, in a small country where it was spring all year round.
Y Country wasn’t large, about the size of a province back home, yet the scenery was delightful, an ideal vacation spot.
The day Moira arrived in Y Country, Adrian immediately took her to try the local specialties. At first, she wasn’t used to the cuisine, but after a couple of meals, she found it increasingly delicious.
The first step in traveling is making a good plan.
But that’s for ordinary people; for someone like Julian, who could spend tens of thousands on a meal without a care, a mixed-up itinerary didn’t matter.
Thus, wherever they fancied, they went, whatever they wanted to do, they did it.
And so, that day, Moira found herself standing at Y Country’s tallest bungee jumping site.
Typically, bungee jumps reach a few hundred meters at most, but here it was an astonishing two thousand meters.
Two thousand meters didn’t sound like much, but looking down, Moira’s legs grew weak.
She glanced at Julian beside her, nervously swallowing, "Uncle, aren’t you scared?"
"Are you scared? If you are, we can go back." 𝓯𝓻𝒆𝙚𝒘𝓮𝙗𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝒍.𝙘𝓸𝙢
Moira shook her head, "We’re here already; it’d be a waste not to jump once."
"Alright then, let’s jump." Julian said, leaping forward with her in his arms.
He knew that the longer they hesitated, the stronger the fear would become.
As they fell, Moira’s heart leapt into her throat, wind roared in her ears, her face turned pale, and she held onto him even tighter. In this weightless moment, she couldn’t tell if it was fear that dominated her, or some other emotion.
If, if the rope were to snap now, perhaps she wouldn’t be all that scared.
After all, she was with this man.
Thinking this, her eyes grew misty.
Julian, on the other hand, stayed silent, his large hands gripping Moira’s slender waist, wanting to provide her some sense of security. Seeing Moira’s eyes tightly shut, he spoke at her ear, "Moira, open your eyes and look, isn’t the canyon beautiful?" Julian encouraged.
Yet Moira stubbornly kept her eyes shut, shaking her head intensely.
Seeing she wouldn’t be persuaded, Julian didn’t push her further.
They swayed in the air for a while before finally landing in the boat prepared by the staff.
Soon after, they were transported back to shore.
