Chapter 290: Chapter 290: Making Amends

Seeing Moira Young’s strong reaction, Anna became increasingly sure that she had broken up with Julian Sinclair.

The jealousy of women can be severe. Though Anna didn’t say it out loud, she secretly desired to connect with someone as influential as Julian Sinclair.

Previously, when Julian was with Moira Young, Anna didn’t dare to think too much. But now that they’ve split up, doesn’t that mean her opportunity has arrived?

Thinking of this, Anna’s smile almost spread to the back of her ears.

"What are you smiling about?" Moira, noticing Anna’s barely concealed grin, couldn’t help but ask, "Did something happy come to mind?"

Anna’s smile instantly froze on her lips. She coughed lightly to ease the awkwardness: "No, nothing. I was just thinking how smoothly this film is being shot, it might wrap up early." 𝕗𝚛𝚎𝚎𝐰𝗲𝗯𝗻𝚘𝚟𝚎𝗹.𝕔𝐨𝕞

"Is that so?" Moira nodded thoughtfully, not probing further.

"The next scene is mine, I’ll go prepare. Let’s chat later." Anna, fearful of Moira uncovering anything, quickly stood up and left.

Moira glanced at the script; it seemed her scenes wouldn’t be needed for the afternoon. Staying on set felt meaningless, so she decided to head back to the hotel.

Joe saw her leaving, quickly packed up, and followed her.

Back at the hotel, Moira freshened up and lay on the bed. She hadn’t rested well at night for the past two days, so it was a good chance to catch a nap.

In the afternoon, there was a knock at the hotel room door.

Joe peered through the peephole and saw Julian Sinclair’s face, hurriedly opening the door.

"President Sinclair, you’re back." She had thought Julian Sinclair had really abandoned Moira Young, but after just two days, he was back!

This was undoubtedly good news for Joe.

As long as Moira got along well on set, no one would look down on her.

Seeing Julian, Joe nearly burst into laughter. She quickly welcomed him in and made him a cup of coffee.

"Where’s Moira?" Julian rubbed his slightly aching temples gently.

"Moira hasn’t slept well these past two days, so she’s catching up on sleep in the bedroom. Should I call her?" As Joe spoke, she was about to call Moira.

Unexpectedly, Julian said, "No need, let her rest well."

"Oh, okay." Joe opened her mouth, then obediently nodded.

Julian could roughly guess why Moira hadn’t been sleeping well these past few days. Thinking of this made him feel even more agitated.

Before Moira woke up, he called Mrs. Miller over, planning to make a lot of her favorite dishes to apologize while she was still sleeping.

Mrs. Miller was fond of Moira Young and didn’t hesitate for a moment to get a taxi to the hotel when Julian asked her to cook for Moira.

She knew Moira’s tastes well and in just two hours, prepared a feast of delicious dishes for her.

Joe looked at the table full of food, drooling: "Mrs. Miller, your cooking is amazing!"

"You’re pretty good too." Mrs. Miller sincerely praised, "If it weren’t for you helping, I couldn’t have cooked this quickly. Nowadays, there aren’t many girls who can cook well."

"Hehe." Joe felt a bit embarrassed by the compliment, a blush appearing on her face. She squeezed her fingers and smiled, responding, "Our family’s conditions aren’t good, my parents need to farm, so I’ve always been the one cooking."

"No wonder your skills are so good." Mrs. Miller understood.

Joe modestly waved her hand: "Not at all, my skills still can’t compare to yours, Mrs. Miller. I must learn more from you to cook for Moira."

Seeing Joe so diligent and eager to learn, with her heart set on Moira, Mrs. Miller felt very positively about her and readily agreed: "Sure, if you want to learn, I’ll teach you."

"Thank you, Mrs. Miller!" Joe giggled.

"No need to thank me; this is what I should do." Mrs. Miller smiled kindly, indicating Joe shouldn’t thank her.

Julian sat in the living room reading a book, not daring to disturb Moira.

But his eyes would occasionally drift towards the bedroom, noticing Moira lying in bed almost motionless, with no sign of waking, he’d turn his gaze back to his book.

Soon all the dishes were done, Mrs. Miller wiped her hands on her apron and looked up, asking Joe: "How long has the young lady been sleeping?"

Joe looked at her watch: "Should be five hours."

"That long? She should get up now, or she won’t sleep at night." Mrs. Miller said, ready to wake Moira.

"But Moira hasn’t really slept these past nights. Should we let her sleep a bit longer?" Joe, feeling a bit sorry for Moira lying on the bed, thought it best not to disturb her.

Mrs. Miller, confused: "Why’s that? Is she unwell? Should we see a doctor?"

"It’s probably nothing, maybe the stress from filming is causing insomnia." Joe dryly laughed twice, then looked at Julian, noticing clearly how his body stiffened.

Mrs. Miller sighed: "Why does the young lady endure this suffering when she could stay at home?"

Joe smiled but didn’t respond further.

"Young Master, why don’t we persuade the young lady to go home? Seeing her eat poorly and sleep badly here, I’m really worried." Mrs. Miller’s eyes were full of concern, afraid Moira wasn’t having a good time.

Julian didn’t respond, seemingly glued to the book in his hands, ignoring the voices around him.

As for Joe, she wanted to explain to Mrs. Miller but didn’t know how to start.

Couldn’t she say it was because of Julian that Moira couldn’t eat or sleep well? If she said that, wouldn’t Julian silence her?

"What about the dishes then?" With no response from the two, Mrs. Miller was left staring at the full table of dishes, worried, "If the young lady doesn’t wake up soon, they’ll go cold and won’t taste good."

Perhaps their voices were too loud, disturbing Moira’s rest. Through the open door, they could see her clearly turning over.

"Is she awake?" Joe murmured.

Mrs. Miller curiously glanced over, discovered no movement after Moira turned, and shook her head: "Seems not."

Just when they thought Moira would turn over and continue sleeping, they heard her mumbling, "What are you guys saying? So noisy."

The young lady is awake." Mrs. Miller exclaimed, taking steps to reach Moira with a pleased smile, "You’re finally awake, young lady, or this food I’ve prepared would have gone to waste."

Waking up groggily and seeing Mrs. Miller, Moira thought for a moment she was hallucinating.

Until Mrs. Miller held her swaying self steady, did Moira realize she wasn’t dreaming.
