Chapter 79: Chapter 79: Apology

Wu Yue’s face darkened...

’Qingcao, you little devil! Are you seriously calling me sick in the head?!’

"Yue, are you home?" The two were teasing each other when Cao Yuan’s voice suddenly called from outside.

Wu Yue and Qingcao exchanged a look, their expressions a bit odd, but they went to open the door anyway.

Cao Yuan’s eyes were red and swollen. Mu Jing stood behind her, a guilty look on her face. The normally cheerful young female now looked listless and rather pitiful.

Qingcao glared at the two of them and snorted. "What do you want? You’re not here to cause more trouble for Yue, are you?"

Cao Yuan’s eyes instantly welled up with tears, and the guilt in Mu Jing’s gaze deepened.

"We came to apologize to Yue."

Cao Yuan pulled Mu Jing out from behind her. "We just came from the witch’s. The witch said there was no poisonous grass among the wild vegetables, so the problem is with my mother’s health."

Mu Jing stepped forward, looking at Wu Yue guiltily. "Cao Yuan’s mother is my mother’s younger sister, which is why my mother was so frantic. She wanted to come and apologize to you herself."

"But Cao Yuan’s mother is very unwell, so my mother stayed behind to take care of her."

As she spoke, she took out a brown Beast Skin from behind her back and offered it to Wu Yue. "My mother said that since you’re new to the tribe and don’t have any family, you probably don’t have a Beast Skin."

"This is one of the best Beast Skins our family has, and it doesn’t have any holes. My mother told me to bring it to you and hopes that you’ll accept it."

Wu Yue chuckled softly and took the Beast Skin from her hand. "I’ll accept the Beast Skin. We’re good friends, so it’s all fine now that the misunderstanding is cleared up."

With that, she gestured for Qingcao to step aside and let them in, then looked at Cao Yuan and Mu Jing. "Come on in and sit down."

Wu Yue’s house wasn’t small. With only a grass bed and a bamboo bag of food inside, it looked quite spacious and clean.

The two young females gasped in amazement.

Cao Yuan and Mu Jing were simple-hearted young women. After the four of them chatted for a while in the house, their friendship was restored.

Wu Yue’s forgiving nature once again won over the two young females, and they liked being around her even more.

That afternoon, she used the leftover Beast Oil to make some wild vegetable patties. Because they were pan-fried, they had a rich, meaty aroma. The outer layer of vegetables was fragrant and crispy—absolutely delicious.

She brought them out and gave one to each of them. Cao Yuan and Mu Jing ate until their mouths were slick with oil.

Their eyes sparkled. "Yue, you’re incredible! How did you make something so delicious?"

Wu Yue smiled and handed them each another one. "The method is actually very simple. Even Qingcao has learned how. If you have time, bring a piece of fatty meat to my house, and I’ll teach you."

The two of them nodded enthusiastically.

"Cao Yuan, how is your mother doing?"

Wu Yue said, looking at the chubby-faced young female whose brows were still furrowed with a hint of worry even as she laughed and joked.

Cao Yuan sighed. "After my mother ate, she kept saying her stomach hurt. But when we took her to see the witch, the witch didn’t have any medicinal herbs that could cure her."

"Even with witch power, she could only slightly lessen the pain."

Mu Jing, who was standing to the side, nodded. "Grandma looks like she’s in a lot of pain."

Wu Yue frowned. ’Could it be some kind of stomach disease?’

’This is a real problem. I don’t know anything about medicinal herbs, so it’s not like I can prescribe medicine to cure her.’

’Am I going to have to resort to that classic, useless advice: "Just drink more hot water"...’

"Grandma ate two bitter-vegetable balls and the wild-vegetable patties we traded from you, Yue. She ate some meat, too. We don’t know why she suddenly started crying out in pain."

Mu Jing frowned.
