Surviving in the Beast World with a System-Chapter 156: Flying Eagle Tribe Beastmen
"ROAR!"
"SCREECH!"
The quiet of the forest was suddenly shattered by a series of beastly roars, startling everyone—from Yuan Lang, who was single-handedly trouncing Teng Qian up ahead, to Teng Qian himself, and even the Snow Tiger Beastmen watching the spectacle from behind the trees and Wu Yue and the others in the cave.
Yuan Lang’s sharp features were hidden in the darkness, but his low, magnetic voice calmed the other beastmen. "Teng Qian, you and a few others stay here and protect the young female. The rest of you, come with me to investigate."
The beastmen sprang into action at his words. Wu Yue, wrapped in a snow-white Beast Skin, stood at the entrance of the cave. "Be careful."
The beastmen all flashed brilliant smiles, then turned and followed Yuan Lang toward the source of the sounds.
The young female might not have recognized the sounds, but the beastmen did. The cry that followed the first roar was unmistakably the call of a Flying Eagle Beastman.
Although the tribes of the Polar Forest often had minor conflicts, Fierce Beasts were the common enemy of all beastmen who lived there.
Especially in recent years, as the weather had grown harsher, the conditions became ideal for Fierce Beasts to multiply. Their growing numbers had started to threaten the very survival of the beastmen.
Because of this, the tribes had a mutual agreement: during the hunting season in the Polar Forest, if any tribe was attacked by Fierce Beasts, the others were to unite with them and fight back together.
"Yuan Lang, the tremors are getting stronger! The fight is just ahead."
The beastmen’s expressions turned grim. Compared to the Land Beastmen, the Flying Eagle Tribe had the highest survival rate during hunts in the Polar Forest.
This was because they could take to the sky when faced with danger, and flying Fierce Beasts were rare.
Especially on the outskirts of this deep forest, the chances of encountering a flying Fierce Beast were practically nil.
Besides, that first roar hadn’t sounded like a flying beast at all.
THUD! The sound of another heavy impact echoed, mingled with the furious roar of a beastman.
The heavy form skidded across the ground, and just as it was about to slam into a large tree, a figure shot out from the shadows and caught it.
The beastman who was caught coughed up several mouthfuls of blood, and the heavy stench of it instantly filled the air.
By now, the Snow Tiger Beastmen could finally see the battlefield ahead clearly. They were facing a pack of Single-horned Wolves.
The onlookers couldn’t help but look sympathetically at the Flying Eagle Beastmen on the field. Single-horned Wolves were considered a particularly shameless kind of Fierce Beast.
Their Talent Skill enabled them to shoot flames from their horns, and the fire had an incredibly long range.
One of the Snow Tiger Tribe’s own warriors had been injured by these same Single-horned Wolves just two days ago.
Furthermore, these Single-horned Wolves excelled at ambushes.
Judging by the miserable state of the Flying Eagle Beastmen, who looked like a flock of scorched chickens, it was obvious they’d been ambushed by this shameless pack of Single-horned Wolves.
"Leave one person to protect him. The rest of you, with me. Don’t engage them head-on. As soon as you see a chance, we retreat."
Yuan Lang knew full well that in terms of numbers, they were no match for the wolf pack.
But there was one silver lining... it took time for the Single-horned Wolves to activate their Talent Skill.
The Snow Tiger Beastmen split into two groups. One ran interference from the rear, while the other took advantage of the opening to rescue the now-feeble Flying Eagle Beastmen.
Just then, a Snow Tiger Beastman came sprinting over from the distance. "Yuan Lang, they’re here!"
Upon hearing this, a cunning smile touched Yuan Lang’s lips. He instantly transformed into his beast form. "ROAR!"
’Men, prepare to retreat.’
