My Fiancé's Scandals Never End, So I Married His Uncle Instead-Chapter 102: Smashing Someone
The photo had clearly been taken surreptitiously.
Even from a great distance, you could vaguely make out that the girl in it was stunningly beautiful, with captivating bone structure.
Second Young Master Sutton stared for a long time before sighing and muttering to himself,
"The Sterlings really hit the genetic jackpot. Kian Sterling has the face of a heartbreaker, and his sister is every bit his equal..."
The Lowell Family’s laboratory.
After three straight days of working overtime, Celia Sterling finally concocted a satisfying final product. The amber-gold perfume looked magnificent in its crystal bottle. Celia spritzed some on her wrist, then gently placed it under Kian Sterling’s nose and asked softly,
"Brother, what do you think?"
Kian Sterling lowered his head slightly and sniffed her wrist, his voice low and sensual. "Smells nice."
"I used cherry, rose, and blackcurrant as the base notes. It’s sweet but not cloying, and perfect for this season." Celia tugged at his sleeve. "Brother, can you take me to Stillwater Cemetery later? And get a bouquet of flowers."
"You’re going to Stillwater Cemetery?" Adeline Lowell, who had just come in to check on their progress, happened to overhear.
Celia glanced at Kian Sterling, unsure if she should say anything.
Kian Sterling responded to Adeline Lowell impassively, "The Sterlings received a great deal of kindness from Teacher Sylvia Lowell. As the general manager of the Delia Caine brand, it’s only right that Cece should go pay her respects."
Adeline Lowell’s gaze toward Celia softened. "I haven’t been to see my older sister in a long time. It’s rare for you to be so thoughtful, Miss Sterling. Shall we go together?"
Stillwater Cemetery.
Only a few days had passed, but this was Celia’s second time here.
She placed the flowers in front of the gravestone, took out the perfume, and respectfully set it right in the middle of the bouquet. Just like last time, she knelt and bowed three times, then muttered softly to herself for a while before obediently standing up.
Kian Sterling stood beside her, silently keeping her company.
Not far behind them, Adeline Lowell also bent down to lay a bouquet of flowers. Her eyes fell on Celia’s knees, which were covered in dust and slightly red from kneeling. A flicker of emotion crossed her face. Her fondness for this girl, to whom she already felt an inexplicable sense of familiarity, grew even stronger.
’A semi-disciple who has only seen my sister’s manuscripts is this respectful of her teacher,’ she thought. ’In contrast, that Summer Sutton, who stayed with the Lowell Family for a few days before leaving in a hurry... During her time here, she offered all sorts of superficial sweet talk and flattery to my mother and me, but she never once asked a single thing about her own mother. She’s worse than an outsider...’
As dusk fell, the group finally left the cemetery.
Adeline Lowell’s politeness toward Celia had initially stemmed from Kian Sterling’s two business deals with Silas Norwood, but now she genuinely liked the girl from the bottom of her heart. Instead of returning to the Lowell Family estate, she took Celia’s hand and said warmly,
"Let me take you back to your hotel. We can talk about The Perfumery Circle on the way. I’ve been so busy with business these past few years that I’ve gotten a little rusty with making perfumes, but my eye for it is still sharp. Perhaps I can help you avoid a few detours on your path as a Perfumer."
Celia’s eyes lit up slightly.
Kian Sterling watched the girl’s eager expression, his own features softening as he remained silent.
Port Sovereign International Grand Hotel.
Outside the elevators to the presidential suite.
Flanked by two assistants, Second Young Master Sutton had been waiting for nearly two hours when he finally saw the elevator move. This floor was Kian Sterling’s exclusive private area, with no other guests besides him. Second Young Master Sutton straightened his clothes, took an exquisite wine box from an assistant, cleared his throat, and arranged his face into a warm smile.
The elevator doors opened, but it wasn’t Kian Sterling who stepped out. It was Adeline Lowell and Celia Sterling.
After a moment of surprise, Second Young Master Sutton showed no sign of disappointment. He eagerly stepped forward, his tone exceedingly polite.
"I’ve long heard that Miss Sterling is one of Metropia’s most famous beauties. Seeing you today, I can confirm the rumors are true."
Celia warily took two steps back, but in the next moment, Adeline Lowell moved to stand in front of her. "Why is a dog from the Sutton Family barking over here instead of staying in its own kennel?"
Adeline Lowell, being powerful enough to rule the Lowell Family, was a ruthless woman. Back when her older sister, Sylvia Lowell, had her accident, Adeline had stormed the Sutton Family estate with bodyguards and had Kenneth Sutton’s leg broken. This led to years of feuding between the Suttons and the Lowells. It was only in recent years, with the Suttons mired in internal strife and the Lowells facing a lack of new talent, that things had quieted down. Second Young Master Sutton was genuinely intimidated by the head of the Lowell Family, and he let out a nervous chuckle.
"Well, I didn’t expect to see you here, President Lowell. A pleasure, a pleasure."
With a cold expression, Adeline Lowell couldn’t even be bothered to speak to him and started to lead Celia toward the suite.
Having waited for so long, Second Young Master Sutton was naturally unwilling to leave empty-handed. He blocked Celia’s path with what he thought was an elegant gesture, putting on the air of a young master from a prestigious family.
"Miss Sterling, I heard your brother enjoys fine wine. I specially prepared this ’45 Pinot Noir for the Ninth Master. It’s nothing expensive, just something for him to enjoy in the evening."
As he spoke, he produced another exquisitely wrapped box. "I also heard you were here, Miss Sterling, so I prepared a little trinket for you. Please, take it and have some fun with it."
Celia glanced at the items: a bottle of red wine worth over two million and a set of pricey jewelry. The man kept mentioning Kian Sterling, clearly using these gifts as a way to curry favor.
"My brother has plenty of wine, and I have plenty of jewelry," Celia refused coolly. "This is our private time. It would be best if you didn’t stand here loitering. My brother has a short temper and hates being disturbed."
"The Ninth Master is a busy man, so it’s fine if I don’t see him." Second Young Master Sutton’s gaze burned as it fixed on her. "Portellis is right next door. The night view is great, and there are plenty of luxury shops. I wonder if I might have the honor of inviting you out, Miss Sterling? I’ll cover all your expenses for the night."
For some reason, Celia felt a natural revulsion toward the cruel, ungrateful face before her, and her usual composure vanished. "My brother doesn’t let me play with ugly people."
With that, she turned and walked away with Adeline Lowell, not bothering to look at the man’s frozen expression.
After they had taken a few steps, Adeline Lowell said with a grim face, "Miss Sterling, stay far away from that man in the future. He’s bad news."
Celia hummed in agreement and asked casually, "Who is he?"
"A bastard from the Sutton Family."
"The Sutton Family?" Celia didn’t immediately register it. "Which Sutton Family?"
Adeline Lowell was clearly unwilling to dwell on the past. Her tone was flat. "Your teacher’s ex-husband’s family. He’s the illegitimate son of that beast and a nanny. Let’s go inside first. I’ll have my bodyguards come up and take care of him shortly."
Celia suddenly stopped in her tracks.
Then, she turned and walked back.
Adeline Lowell was stunned. "Miss Sterling?"
Celia was already back in front of Second Young Master Sutton, her almond-shaped eyes fixed silently on him.
A smile returned to Second Young Master Sutton’s face. "So, you’re willing to grace me with your presence after all, Miss Sterling?"
"What did you say just now?" Celia asked softly.
Second Young Master Sutton pointed to the wine and jewelry. "I said I wanted to give you a little trinket, Miss Sterling."
"No, the line after that." Celia slowly picked up the bottle of red wine from its box and examined it in her hands.
Seeing that she was willing to accept his gift, a look of delight spread across his face. "If you’d be willing to go out with me, Miss Sterling..."
Before he could finish, Celia lifted the wine bottle and smashed it violently against his shoulder!
"CRASH!" The sound of the bottle shattering, accompanied by Second Young Master Sutton’s bloodcurdling scream and a heavy, dull snap of bone obscured by the cry, echoed through the hotel corridor.
At that exact moment, the elevator doors opened again, and Kian Sterling stepped out with several bodyguards. 𝙛𝓻𝒆𝓮𝒘𝙚𝙗𝒏𝙤𝙫𝓮𝒍.𝓬𝒐𝙢
"You bit—" Second Young Master Sutton’s vicious curse was cut short by another scream as the broken bottle slammed into him again. In the instant his vision went black from the pain, Celia, her eyes red-rimmed, threw herself into Kian Sterling’s arms.
She didn’t forget to launch a preemptive strike, her voice full of anger and grievance. "Brother, this bastard was bullying me!"
