Chapter 57: Ranaya [2]

[Ranaya]

Description: [One of the Thirteen Abandoned Children of the Demon God, who was eternally banished from the Spirit World upon Her transgression in the Glorious Star, resulting in the deaths of numerous deities that consequently set back the ascension of evil personification.]

Age: [?]

Race: [Fallen]

- Fallen species naturally possess the Trait of Anti-Divinity—only pure divine power can pierce through any entity with this characteristic.

Talent: [Whispering Spheres], [Sealed], [Sealed], [Sealed], [Sealed], [Sealed], [Sealed], [Sealed], [Sealed], [Sealed].

[Passage from Ancient Revelation]

- A being of evil cursed even by Her own Father, the Demon God. Suspected of having ’stolen’ a [Page of Eternal Truth] from the Original Record.

- She is a fallen deity who had lost Her original sovereignty, and was eventually sealed by the Founding Hero around two thousand years ago in the name of the Goddess of Light during the Divine Crusade that tipped the endless invasion of the demonkind in favor of humanity.

- She is almost human. But as old as time, because of Her origin, Ranaya was and would always remain a formidable entity against the power of divinity.

- Weakness: Wavering Heart

Alana Sol Astraea, the most likely to become the True Hero in the next three months, was momentarily taken aback by the information her brain absorbed—or to say, forcefully received through mysterious means.

The masculine voice that echoed in her head lingered. However, as much as she wanted to respond internally, the current situation prevented her from even attempting it.

The hand of Ranaya emerged from the repulsive, sizzling, dark crimson magic circle of ancient times, grasping Seraphmire’s blade as the divinity from it collided with the Demon God’s abandoned child’s anti-divinity.

Her hand resembled that of blood and obsidian; it did not in any way look similar to a human’s.

Crimson lines streaked from her palm to the emerging arm, as though they were intricately engraved tattoos that defined Her very own existence.

The combination of Her dark hand and those ruby-hued lines echoed a menacing presence.

If not for the fact that She was almost human and lost the status of a glorified deity, then the present True Hero Candidate and the future Space-Time Archmage would have their existence utterly obliterated by Ranaya’s presence alone.

How could a human stand in front of a personified god?

[Do not let Ranaya come into this world!]

Similar to the impact of the spell she cast as she initially arrived in this place, the entire Ranaya Island trembled. Alana, gripping Seraphmire, screamed to Maya, who seemed not used to being in this kind of situation yet.

After all, even if the major characters possessed tremendous power and godly potential, they still were inexperienced students in the early parts of the story—and were prone to mental instability in front of unknown dangers.

It’s also the reason why Lugh managed to overwhelm the Golden Crown’s de facto master in negotiations.

It’s also the reason why the brother of the late True Hero, though he could have the conviction to slay everything that threatens humanity, could be irrationally emotional.

That’s why, in the same way, Maya, despite her vast knowledge in magic and skills, was momentarily frozen at the sight of a [Fallen].

The major characters lacked life-and-death experience. But through this, they would eventually overcome their weaknesses and reach their peak.

"Save everyone on the island, Maya! Go!"

"Ah-huh...? They’re inside the dungeons! I cannot interfere with it!"

Dungeons, by nature, were doorways to other dimensions.

Theologically, they were ’fragmented worlds’ of the past whose ruling gods and goddesses perished, leaving everybody in that plane to become mindless monsters.

"You can do it! I-I need everyone to leave the island!"

"What do you mean? It’s a dungeon!" Maya argued.

"No... It’s a space, and that’s your specialty, isn’t it?"

It was an insane, irrational trust coming from Alana, who believed Maya’s potential to manipulate the dimension behind the existing dungeons on this island.

"Damn it!" Maya cursed.

Looking at Alana, who was struggling to hold off Ranaya, whose hand and arm continued to reach the surface, she realized that it was only a matter of time before everything irreversibly went south.

"Hold it. Hold whatever that bastard is!" Maya, floating in the air as the surroundings were gradually collapsing into destruction, pulled her giant witch’s hat atop her head, fully revealing her cascading long obsidian hair.

In the next moment, as though the abyss of the witch’s hat contained infinite space, she inserted her hand into it and retrieved something—a staff with its tip resembling a small pair of wings and a slumbering eye, which respectively symbolized freedom from time and omniscience.

It was a weapon gifted to her by the Infinitum’s Tower Master, who had gone into war against the Demon King alongside the former True Hero, whose sister was currently holding off an entity that should never step foot on this continent.

Throwing the witch’s hat as it landed on her head, Maya, tightly gripping the staff known as the [Frozen Eye] with her two hands, quickly utilized one of her [Talents].

It was not magic, not even close.

Talent: [Door and Tear]

"Brace yourself, Alana!" Maya warned.

It was at that moment that the surroundings intensely vibrated.

No, it was not an earthquake. Not this time.

It was as though the fabric of Space-Time was tearing itself apart, causing some of the objects nearby to be gradually erased—or transported to another dimension.

"I can’t manipulate the dungeons! But I will forcibly get them out of there! Buy more time!"

"Stop talking! Just do it! ****!"

Maya didn’t know whether she heard the True Hero Candidate had just unusually spouted profanity. In any way, Maya tore the doorways of the other dimensions her heterochromic eyes saw, causing her vision to be in this continent... to the world beyond.

It was an experience of ecstasy.

"Found them."

’But where’s the entire Class Mu? Damn it! Seriously!’

However, sensing that Alana was barely holding on, Maya abandoned the thought of finding them and proceeded with transporting the students—both first and second year—as the spaces surrounding them were torn apart, revealing resplendent gateways to safety.

Before anyone could react to seeing the unknown, Maya screamed,

"DON’T MAKE ME REPEAT MYSELF! WE ARE ALL GOING TO DIE, GO INSIDE THE TEARS YOU SEE IN SPACE! NOW!"

Even without her physical presence, the seriousness in her voice, the opposite of Maya’s playful nature, snapped the students’ potential doubts without question, causing them to quickly jump through the tears in space, leading them far from the island.

Before that, she also provided one last instruction. freewēbnoveℓ.com

"REPORT TO THE ACADEMY AND THE CHURCHES ABOUT WHAT’S HAPPENING IN THIS DAMN ISLAND!"

Letting out a deep breath, as she finished using such a taxing [Talent], Maya’s soul exhausted itself, causing her to faint.

However, before she lost consciousness, her witch’s hat opened its mouth and absorbed her body to safety and recovery.

"Do what you gotta do..."

*

Alana was not aware of everything about Maya, especially the witch’s hat that seemed to act as a living artifact during emergencies.

It disappeared from her sight, as if it had its own space tailored only for its owner.

Trusting that it was not some double-edged artifact that could harm its owner, Alana focused on what was in front of her.

Ranaya’s shoulder was now protruding along with her arm and hand. What’s more, her other hand also began to reach for the surface—something that must not and never happen based on the commanding voice that warned her with urgency.

That’s why...

[Talent: Blade of Apocalypse]

It was one of her [Talents] specialized in [Annihilation] of the demonkind. However, if there’s one thing that caused her to hesitate at this moment was her brother’s words—

"Use it... only if there’s truly no choice."

’No... This is wrong.’ Surmising that it was not the correct answer, as the sun-crimson aura into Seraphmire gradually vanished, Alana tried the one she used against Maya during their first unwelcome encounter.

[Talent: Severer of #######!]

This time around, Seraphmire’s existence began to be coated with a dark, white, and greyish aura, overriding its own divinity and creating its own element.

However...

[Attempt, failed!]

[You cannot override the concept you cannot understand.]

"Wh-what?"

It was at that moment of carelessness that Ranaya’s half-body was fully revealed, causing a head below to emerge.

Vantablack hair that absorbed the light everywhere and blood-red eyes that contained deep emotions, whose existence began to be obscured by dark fog. Before Alana could react, she heard a voice that could tear through one’s soul.

"My beloved spheres..."

At that moment, the hovering spheres of the Labyrinth of Atlan Sphere exploded, as if they were excited due to the arrival of their master. Moreover, these spherical objects that were shattered revealed grotesque monstrosities.

Or at least they tried to break what was containing them.

"Do you have a habit of ignoring what’s in front of you?"

’I have no choice...’ Alana muttered.

"Ranaya. Please go back to your sleep."

The fact that it was only sealed by the Founding Hero meant that She could not be killed... or that the means to do so was unknown.

[Blade of Apocalypse]

The twin-headed scythe, as Ranaya’s grip loosened due to her emerging presence, exploded with crimson sun aura, heating everything in the surroundings.

"You. Your smell. I remember."

Finally recognizing her presence, Ranaya spoke some riddles.

But to prevent Her entire existence from reaching the surface, Alana jumped upward, gaining momentum, as everything in the island began to melt, even the water surrounding it to boil...

Then...

Whoosh!

Rnggg!

A noise indescribable, as though something scratched the void, fleetingly echoed. A line then tore through Seraphmire’s way, cleaving and cleaving to the end.

Without delay...

BOOM!

Ranaya... the summoning magic circle... and the entire island was cut into oblivion.

At the end of all that, Ranaya smiled before speaking in a language that humans could understand...

"Descendants of Astraea..."
